I’ve seen the criticism that pjotv is erasing disability from its story when that?? is?? not??? true?? The showrunners are on record talking about how they added Chiron being disabled in his centaur form because they felt like it would be in poor taste to have him just be in a wheelchair to hide his horse legs and they’re going to explore how he was injured in later seasons. Walker talked about how portraying a kid with dyslexia like his brother is really important and he has multiple times talked about how Percy’s ADHD affects his actions. Percy, in literally the first episode of the entire show, thinks that something is wrong with his brain. Annabeth is clearly coded as autistic even more so in the show than in the books. One of Percy and Luke’s first interactions is Luke saying that ADHD and nightmares is common among demigods. A lot of the demigod extras on set are kids with ADHD! They hired Timothy Omundson to play Hephaestus because they wanted a disabled actor to play a disabled god. He literally talks about that at the PJO season 2 premiere. There’s been a lot of talk about how “stupid” some monsters are, but that’s pretty clearly deconstructed throughout the season. Like 🫩 guys the commentary is still very much there. They just didn’t say the r-slur.
