when night comes, falling asleep can be quite the struggle for sungha. his rest is never peaceful, memories of long nights simply tossing and turning in an attempt to close his eyes shut. melatonin gummies and sleeping pills became an integral part of his nightly routine, regardless of whether it should be or not. rarely does sungha spend his nights outside of his own room, where everything he needs is within an arms-length distance. it's even harder for him to rest in a space that isn't his own, evident in the field trip yeonhwa had him participate in recently. his sleep troubles isn't information many are privy to, and he doubts it's obvious to onlookers. there are many reasons why he chooses to live in his own apartment as opposed to the dorms â this is one of them.
the first time sungha finds himself sleeping in hyunwoo's dorm, he had been running a fever. his medical condition made it impossible for him to feel that, other than the dizzy spells he had been getting ever since he woke up. sungha can't feel physical pain, can't feel temperature â there's no way he could detect his fevers when they come, despite how easily they occur because he doesn't sweat, prone to overheating under the sun. hyunwoo could feel it though, with one touch to his forehead, his skin burning like it's on fire. maybe that's why his body could rest in a foreign space, already overheated and sick, simply waiting to knock out.
it could also be the activities that took place after â it does take a lot of energy too.
while sungha doesn't fall asleep that easily, whenever he visits hyunwoo's dorm, he doesn't reach out for his sleeping pills. it could be because hyunwoo would tire him out on the mattress, or something else.
sungha doesn't usually like the idea of breaching someone else's home either, picky with the places he'd set his foot in too. any hint of a mess or misalignment in his line of sight is quick to grate his brain to an unhealthy degree. hyunwoo's dorm is relatively clean though, neatly arranged even in accordance to sungha's high standards ( but it can always be better ). besides, the two of them have crossed a line beyond their usual limits, especially physically, so sungha doesn't see the point to keeping his distance anymore.
the clothes that he had worn the night before scattered across the ground, unusable in his eyes now. they're dirty, probably stained with hyunwoo's sweat too. after a shower â it's new as well, showering in someone else's room â he takes one of hyunwoo's sweaters to wear. albeit, the cleanest and newest one he can find, he wouldn't settle for anything less. it's not a matter of how close they've been, even though they've been fused together more than once, it's a matter of his own comfort and principles ( in other words, he's still a clean freak above all ).
sungha doesn't have a pressing schedule this morning that would require him to leave right away. he's careful, he knows when to spend the night and when not to â refusing to mess up the schedule he has carefully crafted in his head. still, once he's awake he can't go back to sleep, so he decides to busy himself. making coffee for himself, leaving one packet on the table just in case hyunwoo wants one too. ordering food, because it's almost time for breakfast and he doesn't want to stray from his designated breakfast time. as he waits, he cleans up the mess they made last night, picking up his own clothes as well as hyunwoo's.
he doesn't think about whether hyunwoo would come looking for him, but the boy will wake up eventually, so sungha puts out a glass of water on the table for when that happens. once the food arrives, he starts setting that up too â might as well, there's no reason why he needs to wait for hyunwoo to wake up to do so. apparently, hyunwoo rolls out of bed just then, greeting sungha with his arms around sungha's waist.
"you were clearly sleeping peacefully, it was better to leave you be." doing so also provided sungha with the opportunity to clean up without any sort of distractions from hyunwoo's end too, but he decides to keep that part to himself. "i would have told you if i had to leave," sungha replies. whether it's reassuring or not â it's the truth.
"nothing too fancy." sungha figured out how hyunwoo wouldn't want easy-to-make convenience store foods due to his tastes, even before hyunwoo told him. "i ordered tofu stew from nearby. i thought you might wake up a little later and i'd need to heat it up, but it's still hot right now if you want to eat first." noticing the hoarseness in hyunwoo's voice, he takes the glass of water originally reserved for hyunwoo and places it closer to him. "drink," he reminds simply.
he doesn't see anything out of the ordinary with what he's doing. it's not something sungha does for just anyone though. "i'm surprised. you believe in marriage?" it's not a pointed question, nor is it a dismissal of the idea, more like a playful response to hyunwoo's comment. "i'd hope that isn't how you'll propose though. you haven't even showered."
once hyunwoo lets go, sungha reaches for his cup of coffee across the table, taking a sip. he finally turns around to face the other, leaning back against the table, noticing the bedhair. "were you looking for me the moment you woke up?" he asks, smoothening the wild strands of hair with his gloved hand â he needed to wear it because of the plastic bag the food came delivered in, he had no idea where it's been. "you're so clingy. can't even handle me being gone for a few minutes? are you husband material, or a dog with separation anxiety?"
