one of my favorite tropes of media is fate and when it comes to their lessons on how you deal with them
Game lore!
For the majority of the game modes, fate is manifesting the potential of the characters into a branch that is about to die. Being not technically any actual the variant of the people they are, the potential manifestations are able to reform after being destroyed.
The reason they are being summoned is because empowered people, getting into a fight is really, really good at producing chaos, which helps the branch heal and improves the chances of it surviving.
Any of the arcade type game modes are taking place during a branch collision. Creating chaos in this scenario helps prune The branches to not infect the rest of the reality tree.
The reason fate is playable during the coalescence game mode is because she's not affecting the trees from the higher dimension, fable, laura, and christine are
Because the playable characters are manifestations of what could happen, it's possible for there to be more than one of them.

Introducing "crazy" Dan wylderman.
Works on the walsh ranch. isn't employed there or get paid, and has been chased away with a broom like a raccoon on several occasions.
Lives... probably in a bush somewhere.
screams "cactus!" at people doesn't like, and gives cacti to people he does
doesn't have a job, and we think lives in the fields, we don't know why hair is green. It might be that way naturally
DO NOT refer to. Has no pronouns and will enforce this with succlients.
Gets along with one person, and that is the the other weirdo who lives in the woods.
doesn't have a birth certificate. Doesn't display traces of timeloss. Very well may have just started Existing at some point.
Plays plants versus zombies garden warfare 2. Plays cactus (duh) we have never seen him die. Only uses the drone for scouting
The empowering: michael's perspective
Which two (or more) of your OCs are sold as a set, do not separate?
@lovely-mosspatch
More PGI stuff!
The swordies don't really do anything by themselves, as they have one brain cell each that x2 for every other swordie they're doing things with.
Aka, individually, they are useless, all together? They have a total of a quarter of a brain
Which OC thinks they could get away with murder but definitely couldn't?
Which OC thinks they could get away with murder and absolutely could?
Which OC has gotten away with murder?
@lovely-mosspatch
Max thinks he could if he decided to, and in theory, he could. He knows exactly what he has to do, it's just that he won't do it correctly.
**** *** is such a ridiculous enigma that not even fate actually knows who they are. The omnipresent observer Who is the source of their power DOESN'T KNOW WHO THEY ARE. They are absolutely getting away with it
The order has a kill count in the quintriple digits, and an untrackable percentage of it is David.
Online superhero communities would have RANCID discourse.
"Is dating non-supers without disclosing your secret identity allowed?"
"Monetizing superhero activity is sellout shit, work a day job"
"If you prioritize flipping burgers over stopping a crisis for RENT you don't get to claim the hero label"
Guy who has been superheroing for three weeks and does not have enhanced senses: "I do not give a SHIT if you're 'burned out' or 'suffering panic attacks daily', if you CHOOSE to wear noise cancelling headphones just to avoid hearing about crises you could stop with your powers, you're no better than the villains. You hear about a fire, you fly over and stop it, no ifs or buts, I don't care what your therapist says."
Hero who's got PTSD from losing one of her closest friends: Please, please, PLEASE, if you're unpowered and trying to do hero work, be careful! Do NOT take unnecessary risks, do NOT expect to survive hits your empowered friends do, wear ALL the safety equipment you can.
Teenager who's literally invulnerable: Erm, gatekeeping much?
It's a growing problem. Fortunately the cult has some really good regulations for how to hero, and practices for people who are evil for attention.
Thank you Luman, your cult was really good at getting people adjusted to superpowers
so. in what world are they on the normal side of weird vs normal
curious to know what "less ambitious now" means
they look like they have low self esteem or underestimate themself a lot? not. necessarily in a low self-esteem way but in a like. "has met people way weirder than them so their perception is skewed" kind of way
i'm so amused by their lack of ambition compared to vincent lmao
Well outside of the powers, the only thing that really separates them from being just a guy is that they decided to live in an RV in the middle of the forest that gives people rashes.
They're immune to the trees that give people rashes though.
Just that. They've had forty years of traveling the world and seeing the sights, so they're fine to spend sometime back at home, working in the lumberyard.
It's not a lack of self esteem, they've just been humbled by trotting the globe. They've seen some wild things, they've done some wild things, but now it's time to rest.
Or it would be, if their nest hadn't been struck by lightning.
Hemlock live their life explosive already. They kind of want to take a break until they're ready to go again. Vincent was stuck. He's free now. Now it's his turn to live wild.
Their opposites with a common purpose. They want the same thing, but not at the same time. Dan has lived pretty wild and untamed, as much as he'd like to try cozy, he needs to be responsible now
Vincent has messed up. He's here to make amends.
The kids need someone to relate to. Vincent will teach them what is right, and dan will teach them how to do it. Neither could do it alone.
@lovely-mosspatch i got another one for you
how did i not notice this.
hi yes i love him
he's less funny than he thinks he is and he cannot get his shit together he's just like me fr
who is he?? is he like fate and the spellcaster (is that rifht sorry i'm so fucking tired while writinf this)
This is fable, he took over as guardian of reality when fate was "dead"
He is probably the only one that fully realizes his power, and he uses it to... rhettcon fantasy creatures into reality
He's didn't do a great job taking over, enough to stop reality from dying, but now the entire island of australia is united, giraffes exist, the mongoy doesn't and a bunch of other things got slightly messed up.
I say he's, because it was every version of him throughout the timeline basically reacting like the person driving down the freeway just fell unconscious. Yes, road safety laws have been ignored, but we're all alive now.
hello OC havers. play my game
@lovely-mosspatch
i'm charmed by his skewed sense of self and inability to change
please tell me more
why is he wearinf a paper bag on his head? why is he?
Mostly from the "refusal of the call" trope. He's doing what he thinks anyone who is given his powers would do...
He has very much opinion on people using their powers "wrong" (for evil / selfish reasons) Despite the fact that if he didn't feel compelled to help others when given the ability to, or given it three seconds of thought before drinking the space juice, or never encountered max and the spellcaster, or so many things, he would have carried on. He wouldn't have become the hero he is.
He never wanted to be this.
He wouldn't have been this.
But now that he is,
YOU'LL HAVE TO PRY THIS LIFE FROM HIS IRON FISTS.
It is the greatest mistake he has ever made.
That's not a paper bag over his head, that's his helmet sliding together to become a solid piece of voistelim.
They think they're a lot more stoic than they really are, and that's partially because of the feeling like this is what anyone should do.
Meanwhile, he's making ninety-tonne golf clubs to hit people with and uses telekinesis to make combat roller skates.
They know they're smart, they are just being humble.
The npc is again because they feel like they're doing what they should be
They don't think they're as strong as they are because a lot of the things that they know they can do they would never (the guy who can telepathically control knives gets faint at the sight of blood. He could also set off an atom bomb from his hands if he wanted to)
he's head empty drinking space juice /j
what is his power? why can he set off bombs from his hands?? (can not will)
He's the metal and magnets guy. He can create atomic detonations because he remembers basic science
