Nyo-ho! Fat GyJo Week is Approaching!
ā© What is Fat GyJo Week?
Fat GyJo week is a theme week (Feb 14 - Feb 20) for artists, writers, cosplayers, and any other creatives who would like to participate. It is a week to celebrate and make/share art of plus-sized depictions of Gyro Zeppeli and Johnny Joestar, and celebrate fat bodies in a time of rampant fatphobia.
ā© Why is Fat GyJo Week a āThing?ā
Fat GyJo week initially started out as a joke amongst friends about drawing fat Gyro on Fat Tuesday. It further spread to the idea of Fat GyJo February, which was then solidified into a theme week that would encapsulate Valentines Day, Fat Tuesday, and the Lunar New Year of the Horse! Fat GyJo week is a time to celebrate body positivity and fat liberation in fandom spaces in a time where fatphobia and thinness being seen as the default beauty standard is on the rise. It is a week where everyone can appreciate the art of headcanon, embrace bodily diversity, and have fun drawing silly cowboys!
ā© How Do I Participate?
The short answer is: you can participate in any way youād like! The long answer is: a set of prompts will be shared that you can work off of if youād like, interpreting them in any way you see fit.
