i feel like i should mention for the folks upset with me in my comments and inbox that i don’t hate noah wyle. i don’t know him! i’ve never met the guy, never spoken with him. the post above is incorrect according to commenters and that is my bad, HOWEVER!! i can’t exactly be blamed for thinking it to be in character for him when he has said and done very similar things in what seems to be complete seriousness. again, i don’t know him, so i obviously can’t ask about his intentions or anything. but the fact remains that to me (based on just how i’ve perceived him and reports from past coworkers of his), he COMES ACROSS as arrogant oftentimes. not a crime and definitely not uncommon! but yknow!

why do i never hear about people talking about the ethics of infants in acting? obviously, the exploitation and inability to consent, but there’s also the fact that they don’t know that they’re acting. if there’s a scene with a fight, and the baby starts crying in the background, that’s because they’re genuinely distressed by what’s happening, either because the cast used a trick to get them to cry for the scene (i.e. taking a toy away), or what’s happening in front of them. anyway, point is, they don’t know that what’s happening isn’t real. they just think they’re genuinely growing up in a hostile environment, and their development is going to be effected accordingly.

i am begging you, yes you, please stop teaching children that injuries are cool. if your kid gets a cut, please do not tell them that they’ll have a cool scar. if they break an arm or a leg, do not call their cast cool!! obviously, don’t say it’s fugly and awful either, because that’s an insecurity waiting to happen. but i think maintaining that injuries are not good is overall healthier than the other option, and we do NOT need more kids fantasizing about their own demise and pain we DONT
