Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,
(I am large, I contain multitudes.)
Walt Whitman - Song of Myself
Should I create another blog?
We all contain Multitudes. There are blogs I want to follow but I hesitate knowing that showing all of my interests may offend some.
I like dogs, and country homes, and science fiction (BSG, all ST), The Grateful Dead (and Company), and comics, and art and food and wine, and some European culture and philosophy and psychology, some Spiritual things, a lot of atheist and agnostic things, music, I own more than one handgun but believe they should be regulated as stringently as an automobile, I like to think about economics, I like whiskey and whisky and gin and a good bottle of Cotes du Rhone, I enjoy good poetry and writing in general and and and an... BUT, I also like both artistic and erotic nudes (clearly with my own certain proclivities - I like big butts I cannot lie), have a huge interest in sex and sexuality, consider myself mostly cishet but extremely LGBTQIA allied and have interests in BDSM mostly around power exchange.
Follow me and you get what you get. No one I know "in real life" (other than my adored and adoring partner) knows my blog exists. I like it that way.
Sometimes though, I fear to post or reblog all of what interests me for worry that some I want to follow may be offended and block me.
That's ok, (their prerogative - we all contain multitudes) but it still saddens me. It's my small (very small) insight to marginalized communities. A desire to share all of myself (my multitudes) and take in all that interests me (multitudes) but knowing that parts of me are so "unacceptable" to others that they don't even want the association of my being interested in the things that interest them saddens me. I would and do understand why someone may not want to follow me but the dissociation in this anonymous environment I just find strange and sad.
So I think I've decided. Just one blog. You get it all. Showing my "likes" as well but not my follows seems a reasonable compromise though.
My own song of myself.
