this part broke me.
I’m convinced that I am loneliest when the moon is not visible, when one must depend on memory to experience what she knows. And how volatile the memory. I have an adaptation of the moon until the real thing comes back. It is no wonder I miss people easily, cling to them eagerly. Here you are sharp as ever. But once you go, I have to rebuild you from what I know. You learn over time how little you know, how little you can hold. You learn over time that it’s always better to hold on a little bit longer. So that the glow and the scent of what you love stays with you.
