Sensory safe Bath Time with CG! 🧼🫧
This is in more of a storyline way, since it is more specific. I tried to do my best with this, and of course I hope it's delighted in! Always remember sensory issues are real and valid, do not feel bad for the simple fact you struggle.
A little one who struggles with shower time, feeling like they can't begin bathing at all. But, their CG knows, wanting to make it all the easier on a little one who struggles enough. "Tiny," the CG says. "Do you want to play duckies, with me?"
The offer makes it a little easier. The CG will let baby watch too; the water runs on half, so it isn't too loud. It fills the tub slowly, and while they do, tiny can get all the floaty toys they have, duckies to put in the tub, and make it such a nice scene! Many bubbles, or nice lit candles to make it feel nice, the scene it set.
"How about music?" The CG asks, and little one can choose, any fun song they love the absolute most. It's all prepared, as the CG sits on the edge of the tub, holding baby's hands.
"We made a really nice tub, didn't we?" The CG asks. "Do you think it'll be okay to play with the duckies in the tub, too?" It's a little offer to bathe. No forcing, no loud voice; they ask so gently, and pet their little one's hands, giving reassurance.
"It'll be really good for you, kiddo. And, you get to play! It won't last forever, it'll be okay." As much as baby needs, even CG wading their fingers in the water, letting tiny do the same. They can feel it; lukewarm, not too hot at all, and no closed curtain. Hopefully, it won't feel so suffocating now.
If tiny wants to wash alone, that's okay. CG tells them, they have all the duckies to play with. The sponge is there, and just to be silly, they let baby play with the dry, squishy sponge, showing them it's safe! Tickling and patting the little sponge against kiddo, making them smile; it's safe. Little one can do it! They can scrub scrub, and CG promises that they will have wonderful rewards for their precious baby once they are done. Laid out PJs and snackies for kiddo to have, all for doing so well!
But, if tiny wants CG to help them wash, they'll be there too. Sitting by the tub, playing with the duckies too, telling their little one, "Good job!" anytime they are able to clean! Their CG helps them, by gently washing their hair, while their kiddo plays with toys in the water, letting them find bathtime as more of a comfort, than a chore.
"You did such a good job, kiddo," is always what the little one gets when it's all done. When they are all dressed, warm, dry, and comfy, wrapped up in their CGs arms.
"Did it feel big, and scary? It’s okay if it did," their CG says, as they rub their little one's back. "No," the tiny replies. "Because I had you with me!" It's such a precious display of trust.
Hugging so gently, their CG may cover their face in kisses, tickling and snuggling, making it known they are so so happy too, to help. No matter what, that is what their CG is there for.
I hope you enjoy this! It is quite long, but I really wanted to capture some of the main subjects. Again: sensory issues are always okay. Don't ever feel shameful for it, it's just how your mind works, little one. You got this, and if this helps you want to go shower now, go for it! You can do it. Dividers by @kodaswrld .
