When I get blood samples at work sometimes they’re still warm from being imminently inside the patient’s veins and my hands are always cold because all the labs Ive work in are in the basement and they keep it kinda cold for whatever reason (and I’m also just a chilly kid).

And I clutch the little warm tubes of blood and feel this sick person warming my hands and I think about how kind you might be and how I wish I could hold your hand and how badly, how really really badly, I want you to get better and stay warm and hold someone’s hand again.

And anyway sometimes it’s better to not think so vividly about the people I’m doing tests for. I’m a good little cog in a vast machine of people all trying to heal and cure, and my cog feels so fucking small sometimes. But I hope the blood I prepare for you helps you breathe better and laugh and wake up feeling well rested.

while some aspects of chainsaw man are definitely susceptible to criticism (like how the weekly releases impact the pacing in part 2), i don't understand how people can be +200 chapters in and mad that the story about sexuality and intimacy contains sexuality and intimacy??

honestly, the way different forms of intimacy have been tackled throughout the story, through povs of multiple characters, it is incredibly refreshing to me. so much of it is very unconventional and interesting to think about. this is probably why it also annoys me when people bash denji for being so driven by his sexuality and desire for intimacy, like those desires of his are something that needs to be eradicated or subdued completely in order for him to be a "good" character. in a similar vein, i've seen quite a few people talk about asa while completely refusing to engage with her own incredibly difficult relationship with those very same drives, like she wasn't presented to us in the very first chapter through those very same desires and the manner in which they contrast denji's. the two remind me of the id/ego/supego theory somewhat (it would definitely be interesting lens to interpret the story through)

anyways, yoru is an interesting variable to include in this equation. she foils so many characters (asa, makima, pochita, to name a few); she brings so much to the table with her own "alien" perception of intimacy/love/sexuality, and how she and asa influence each other in that aspect. the latest chapter (229) gave us so much food for thought when it comes to analysing both yoru herself and yoru and asa's relationship with each other, and i don't think it's a bad move to imply that the same way yoru needed asa to understand the human concept of guilt and sin, she never quite grasped the human concepts of love and desire (which doesn't negate the fact that she can and has experienced those things through asa, she simply cannot comprehend them).

i don't know, these are just some quick thoughts in response to some criticism i've seen floating around. feel free to disagree or to ask me to elaborate, this is something i'd love to have a deeper discussion about
