Doctor Killsme by Cel Moses
After the Storm, Piano software by Jonathan Laury
My Demon by Hays Brooks
I am beaten
I am broken
It has taken everything from me.
I have no time
It occupies all.
I have no life, it controls me.
It keeps me up,
into the early hours of the morning.
my hands are sore,
my eyes burn
my head aches,
I want it to stop.
But it won’t let me.
I want to scream.
Scream out all the words
swirling inside me.
But I will be mocked
for even daring to open my mouth
This may all be a hyperbole,
but damn.
I really hate AP© United States History.

Sybil’s Mighty Stand by Abigail Wetzel
Sinking softly in the sand, Sybil secretly sang Until the sight of silver sails solemnly swam the scene What were those weary waker’s wants, and wither where they came— To watch white Sybil’s woeful wish and wait to want again? Then drawing dusk, the dark men daunt and doomed dear Sybil’s name And drank dew drawn from dreary husks among darned dreamers’ dame Now here we haunt hailed harems sought in haste we hardly have Honey hewed from heartless whores stoned whole on her behalf Stark stalling simple maiden fled to solemn sleeping stead So sorrow sought her soul to rot and sealed soft maiden’s bed My moral, mighty, marching men, malice marks your sin. For major mental members love madness that melts within So silver ships come soaring in to save sweet singer’s soul There Sybil sweeps the salty beach to shield pure so-called whores Their faultless, fatal, falling felt cold fearless faceted dain From fainting far fetched fiery males who feel foremost to gain. But gain they won’t by borrowed bout but boars they quick transmute For biding in brash boorish thought brings bitter breadth for brutes Now nearing newly naked dawn dreamt decent duchess’ came There dearly Sybil dared to draw sweet sailing maidens’ name For who had wept for wanting girls upon sad wasted gains When Sybil died with heart inside to prove mad men insane.

An Excerpt from “The Right Diet for Man Men” by Morgan Heflin
There comes a time in every man’s life when he realizes he may be putting on a little extra weight. There’s absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, and we, here at RockBody LLC, know it’s from those extra hours you’re putting in at the office cutting into your workout time! Nonetheless, you may be noticing the signs of weight gain. Your wife might be making offhand remarks about getting a gym membership, considering adding more vegetables to your meals that were previously Only The Manliest Grilled Steak, or questioning whether or not you need that seventh post-work beer. Your children could be calling you names like “fatty”, “big Montana bear”, or the classic “gigantic fat-ass tub of lard”. We, here at RockBody LLC, understand that these remarks, no matter how occasional, take their emotional toll on your Indestructible Male Ego, and may be motivating you to desire change for your Strong Manly Body. That same purpose motivated the Super Masculine Founders Of RockBody LLC to design a Very Masculine Product for men just like you!

September Phenomenon by Grace Killian
Rising like the earth’s silvery breath Drifting and swirling with every inhale and exhale. Misty gray drapes houses, trees, blades of grass, Clings to the edges like a sticky residue.
Strange things swim: Luminescent-eyed beast with growling belly Or passing headlights? Razor-clawed raptor escaping earthen prison Or unremarkable oak? Unknown things in this place, Whimsical land of mystery Hellscape of nightmare.
Sun rises and warmth spreads, Dispelling vapors with a sigh of release. The world is returned to reality.
The first of our Portfolio series here at Connotations! This month we’re featuring Arthur Matlock, our very own Art Editor.
