Vera had been in her room trying to finish her homework but she just kept feeling sick from any movements she made. She knew her family would soon start to catch on from her being sick constantly which is why she was trying to tell them all one by one. Hearing a knock the girl sat up seeing her brother she smiled, She didn’t have the heart to tell him that she stopped taking her pills months ago but when he’d come get her she’d pretend to take them not to worry him.” I’ll come join you, I need out of here” She laughed standing up taking a deep breath” What are you making?” She asked

his eyes widened at the reveal of her small bump; only just noticeable, but it was there. he wanted to pretend this was all a dream. that she was wearing some prosthetic, and pulling a prank on him. yet when he finally glance back to her ( only for a second ) he knew that it was real. “am i mad?” he sneered before shaking his head. “vera, i am fucking furious? tell me, how could you actually be so stupid?” his hands almost moving in perfect sync with his words, as if they were supporting his point. she was a smart kid, and he knew that — but in that moment, he couldn’t help thinking the smartest people do the dumbest things. “fuck.”

Vera pulled her shirt down back over her bump and sitting down she covered her stomach with her hands seeing the look on her brothers face made her feel almost disgusting .”I-i’m sorry”she said looking down feeling the tears hard core coming from her eyes now she felt gross and bad she had upset him and she knew it was stupid but it still hurt to hear it come from his mouth “I’m sorry..I’m really sorry”She said shaking her head,pulling her feet up close to her hugging them

Vera paused closing her eyes in a probably failed attempt at keeping the tears from falling,She knew that she couldn’t hide it much longer with her stomach already forming a small small bump and it would only get bigger in time.”Yeah,Morley I am”She said sitting up and lifting her shirt so slightly to see the small that looked just like bloating right now but  she knew it wasn’t “Theres a baby in there,I told Isaac the other day I don’t know if he’s told his family,but I told Dora a while ago,and I’m now telling you..and I’ll tell everyone else soon”She said wiping her face “Are..are you mad?”

the change was sudden though he was glad that she wanted to be honest with him; or at least he hoped that was what this was. whilst he had known something deeper was going on, prying was not going to help him in the long run. “yeah, sure.” he answered before following her lead. already he could tell it was something serious by the locking of the door. it was the only way that things had a chance of staying private in that house. “what’s happened? you’re not hurt at you? did he hurt you?” he could feel himself already tense at the very thought. “i swear to god, if you broke up because he did something and you have waited this long to tell me…” unable to bring himself to finish his sentence — an attempt at some composure. 

Vera played with her thumbs trying to think of how to tell her brother something so important without crying her eyes out,she felt her stomach doing flips and twisting into knots.Shaking her head fast “No,No Isaac is a sweet kid he’s always been sweet and he didn’t hurt me,I promise”She said.Looking at her stomach placing a hand on it she sighed looking back up to him”We met back up at a party a few months ago we hooked up and about three months ago..I found out I was pregnant”She said holding her breath ,It felt good to get it off her chest but also like she was saying the wrong things.”No body knows but him yet,and you can’t say anything until I tell everyone”She said.Vera was terrified and telling just one of her siblings made her want to be sick

anybody looking from the outside in, would definitely think that their set up was impractical — bringing home leftovers from work, scraping together their last few dollars at the end of the month, and above all using a drug dealer as if he were a pharmacist. he hated that they had come to that, but he knew that financial it made some sense. just as long as he was not involved; he didn’t need anything else against him. “do you need a ride to work? it will give you longer to get ready.” his shift was over so he was open for the remainder of the day. “okay, well as long as you are taking them… hopefully your sickness will go away too.”

vera smiled to her brother she really couldn’t hold anything back from him anymore,she felt if she lied anymore she might pop,if it was anyone else the girl could lie through her teeth but her family made it so hard “Actually Mor,I need to talk to you about something,it’s kind of very important”She said “Can you come with me?”She asked leading him into her bedroom,closing and locking the door she sat on the bed ,looking down she took a very big deep breath in “So,Something happened”she said started”Do you uhm,Remember my ex boyfriend,Isaac?We broke up sometimes last year?

his eyes looked upon her — the furrowing of his brow already showing his concern towards his younger sister. “hey if you have been feeling sick then you should probably go and rest.” he mentioned, not entirely believing that it was the full case. they had all eaten pretty much the same thing the night before ( there were not many options in the maguire house ) but he supposed that she could have grabbed something else. “have you been taking your meds?” his mind running straight to the only other possibility that he could think of. 

Vera nodded her head “Yeah I know,But I’ve gotta get ready for work here in a few minutes but i’ll be fine I have a short shift and will be home with the left over food “She smiled ,it was usually how she helped out around her house foodwise was bringing the left overs from her work it kept them good for a day or two.When  he brought up the pills she paused for a moment “Uh yeah,I just went out and bought some off of Jimmy yesterday”She lied about going to the drugdealer that lives down the street from them but she couldn;t tell him no.

– “TO BE HONEST with you, i’m not totally sure why i agree to this every year.” ezra looks up at the fire engine behind him that’s gaudily decorated with streamers, ribbons and a giant rainbow flag. the ladder on the back of it is extended halfway, which he’s meant to stand on and wave to the patrons during their ride through the parade ( it’s tradition for the fire captain ). throughout the few runs of the parade during the day, most of the fire and rescue team who weren’t back at the station would take some time to participate in the parade, waving at little kids from the fire engine and posing for photos. but THIS run – the last one of the night, just before sundown – the entire team had elected to go topless, because, well, WHY NOT? so there he stands in his fire suit, except he’s shirtless, his bare torso completely exposed save for the black suspenders holding up his bright yellow pants that, in his opinion, look RIDICULOUS without the matching jacket. “—-not the whole pride thing, because i LOVE doing the parade, really. – just the shirtless part. is it really that big of a hoot around town?”

Vera loved pride she loved seeing everyone be themselves but this year she had a headache from hell,and stomach pains that were bond to kill her it seemed,she was out walking around greeting the people ,Walking up to the fire truck where she noticed the crowd of people “Well with a body like that and body of the rest of your team I’d say so”Vera smiled laughing
