how do you tell your ex you still love them??
you dont
“yeah— but would you buy a kidney on the black market IF the price was fair?” he questioned, trying his best to conceal the grin that he could feel forming on his face. it wasn’t a serious question ( of course ) though he was curious nonetheless.
carter maguire.
“You know, I really wish there was a button that could magically make your bed or something, that would be great if I could get a couple more minutes of sleep because I’m tired of being sleep deprived at this point.” He said holding a coffee in one hand and a notebook in the other with big dark round glasses covering his eyes. “And maybe another device to blur out my bosses voice when he’s nagging at me, but other than that. I’m fine, how are you?” He asked looking over at the other. “I feel like I haven’t seen you in ages.”
“making your bed takes seconds. if you’re gonna wish for anything to have it’s own magical button, make it getting dressed, or taking a shower.” morley shrugged, pouring himself a cup of coffee from the pot. “there are always stuff around this neighbourhood that can help you sleep.” he mentioned between yawns, settling in the seat across from his brother. “nagging you is probably half the fun for him.” he chuckles, soft due to the earliness. “but i am glad to hear you are doing okay... i am fine too, just trying to remind myself of the money i get from work to keep me going.” he waved off the thought, taking a sip from his mug. “you probably haven’t seen me in ages, works been busy so i never get to see these damn four walls.”
lei lance-hill.
“okay, but CHEESY fries are the best food to eat after a long shift staring at the lab rules.”she spoke, before taking a mouth full of greasy goodness.”anyway, did you say something?”
“how are cheesy fries ever the best food when pizza exists?” he asked, nose wrinkled at the very thought. only shaking his head before returning to the matter at hand. “anyway, what i was trying to say was, did you actually get to do anything in the lab? like other than stare.”
acacia rivera.
“honestly…” her words were quicker to escape than she could catch them. “the white picket fence isn’t all that. a big house can feel more lonely than a small one.” she stopped taking offense to other’s comments about the size of her house or her dad’s bank account. frankly, she didn’t mind them. hell, if anyone knew how true the “money doesn’t buy happiness” phrase was, it was her. so, as she lifted the bottle to her lips to take another sip, she let out a shrug. “shocking huh?” her eyes returned to his as she opened the baggie. quickly taking out one of the pills and placing it in her mouth, she swallowed it almost instantly while washing it down with another drink. she was too far gone to care that morley was there to see this. “because acacia rivera has a reputation to uphold.” it was just as snide as it sounded. “you should be thankful for the reputation you have. there’s no pressure.” she leaned her head back slightly as she felt the effects of the alcohol and previous pills she’d taken.
morley tilted his head to one side when listening to her, curious of the situation. “well, that’s surely killed the american dream for me. but trust me, it’s hard to feel truly alone in a small house.” he exhales a slight laugh, only to quickly grow serious again. there was always going to be somebody better off than you, and he assumed the same would go for acacia — particularly when it came to other aspects. money isn’t everything, was all that he could think. “shocking would be the word.” his lips curved to a half-joking smile, glancing over to meet her look. he’d seen this before ( many times actually ) though not from her. yet he held no judgement over the situation; whatever works for you, he guessed. only taking long sips of his drink as he listened to her speak. then almost spitting it out when he went to chuckle, “trust me, you don’t want a reputation like mine... and if we’re honest, are they our own reputations, or the ones we were born with?” he questioned, turning enough to see her, now that his eyebrow was raised. “you a rivera, me a maguire. renowned for our wonderful names.” he declared, cynical right down to his tone.
juliet prince.
juliet couldn’t help but feel like a princess when he was his gentlemanly self– it brought out a genuine smile in her that she felt the need to try and hold back, for fear of him seeing how truly happy she was to be back by his side. he had always been, first and foremost, her best friend– the other side of the same coin. and this time, at least, right now, nothing terribly dark hung over them as it had in the past; she wouldn’t let it. even if nothing came from this meeting, it would at least be a better piece of closure than she’d been left with before. “i can get you both of those things, if that’s what your heart desires. consider me a genie in a bottle, wish for anything you want,” she teased, shrugging at him with raised brows. she took his hand, cheeks warming, and stepped into his car. “well, thank you. you know you’re much more than a chauffeur, charming,” she joked, rolling her eyes and buckling her seatbelt. “you’re the one that’s too cool for me. if i’m not mistaken, you’re the one with the tight schedule i was graciously considered to fill,” she laughed lightly, shaking her head. she settled her purse and looked over at him, a quieter smile now lingering on her lips. “you sure look nice.” realizing that could’ve crossed a line– she averted her gaze and looked forward. “uh, where to first?”
morley felt the feeling of nostalgia wash over him — juliet beside him, no hesitation, no pain. it was a bittersweet sensation that he could only blame himself for. he could think on that for years to come, but when juliet stood next to him, the thought was pushed to the back of his mind. or so he tried to make it so. their relationship was formed on a friendship, and a strong one at that; leaving his hopes ( of returning to that point ) high. “a genie in a bottle? does that mean i only get three wishes? ‘cause i always thought that was a pretty shitty deal.” he joked, evident by his cheeky grin growing, and the slight scrunch of his nose. he buzzed from the touch of her hand, though tried not to react externally. only softening his grin to a smile. “charming, huh?” he raised a brow, cautiously closing her door before jogging round to his own side. “too cool? my time is taken up by cats in trees and kids getting stuck in fences... but, i mean, much of my tight schedule really is partying, booze and narcotics. keeps me incredibly busy these days.” he teased, getting settled into his seat before placing over his belt, and starting everything up. “why thank you, m’am. but i’d say you’re the better looking in this duo.” he half joked, trying to brush over the situation- although nothing could hide that most of what he said was the truth. he hummed for a second, eyes locked on the road, but still catch glimpses of her in the corner of his eye. “i’m not fussy, we could eat first or grab some drinks before?”
addie vaughn.
Addie had almost regretted inviting him over. She hated that he was still pining over his ex, but it wasn’t anything he could help. Plus, she didn’t care too much for him that way anymore. Not that she didn’t like him, of course she did. They had done a lot together, things she’d probably always remember. The knocking on her door made her groan. She pulled it open quick and gave him a dirty look. “Don’t embarrass me where my neighbors can hear you, for fucks sake.”
Morley stepped away from the door when waiting for her to answer. It was almost a habit at this point, much like how he always ended up back outside the familiar door of her apartment. He furrowed his brows when seeing her, only to shrug at her response. “Your neighbours don’t give a shit about your drama, shouldn’t be so damn nosey.” His voice only getting louder at the mention. “So, you gonna let me in or should I knock on next door? See if they got anything to say, or eat.” His eyebrows raising to question.
juliet prince.
“i guess this is as good as it gets.” juliet shrugged as she looked herself over in the mirror. the brunette was dressed in a loose, red, off the shoulder sort of sundress, a jean jacket set over it and a pair of sandals on. she didn’t want to appear as if she was trying too hard— but still cute. because, admittedly, maybe, possibly, was this— no. juliet shook her head. it was just for old times. she didn’t need to make something of it that it wasn’t. she tucked her hair behind her ear and passed her favorite lipstick over her lips one last time, checking her phone to see… and yep, he was there. no need to think too hard, it was just morley. morley. the boy who, for the majority of her life, had been everything. the love of her life. just him. juliet took another deep breath, offered herself a quick thumbs up, and picked up her bag to head downstairs to morley’s car. “hey,” she waved, biting her lip in an attempt to hold back a wide grin that she couldn’t quite contain. “i can’t believe i booked the morley maguire for his night off.” @morlcys
morley took a deep breath, checking himself one last time in the sun visor mirror. it was nerves. that was clear enough, but he tried to remember that juliet had seen him in far worse ways — almost as a way to settle the anxiousness that he was feeling. still, it was important to him, and because of that he wanted to make a good impression. that some effort had been put into it. the shirt and jean combo that he was wearing could only say so much though. he needed to fix things; their last meeting reminded him of that. reminded him of how much he missed her. you can do this, he reminded himself before flipping up the mirror. it was then that he noticed juliet leaving her house, and hopped out of his car. morley flashed a grin to her, pacing himself to greet her. “i know i honestly don’t know what the protocol is with this, maybe a medal of honour? maybe a bottle of champagne?” he raised his brows, moving to walk alongside her till they reached the passenger door of his car. “or perhaps your own personal chauffeur for the evening?” teasing to her as he open up the car door, and offered his hand.

max rivera.
“i think you could definitely pull off the white frat boy look. although i think you’d need to change your name to brad or chad. your poor boy image would definitely be ruined,” maxine laughed. “you can still love or care about someone and not respect their opinion i guess, like if you don’t agree with it. or you think there opinion was wrong.” max really cared about how people perceive her, it was one of her biggest flaws. “thanks, i appreciate it.” she meant that, morley had always been a close friend and confidant. she valued his thoughts. “it could be a risky investment. unfortunately i don’t think hot pink is your color. how about i get you two colored ones? nothing crazy.”
“if only i had the money to match. do you want a sugar baby? i could be your chad, or your brad. whatever you need in a white frat boy. if i am losing my pauper image, may as well go the whole hog.” morley chuckled, settling down on the edge of the bed — and next to her. “i guess there are some things that my siblings say that i just ignore, makes life easier sometimes. but when it matters, it’s best to try and take everything in.” their opinions differed ( that was something he knew well enough ) though he always hoped to sway her from that way of thinking. but both always seemed to have a point, and when it came down to it, cared about each other’s opinions. “fuck. really? i just asked for my work overalls to be dyed to match. two colours is crazy, but i trust you.”
she text and he went over. it was their relationship in a nutshell, ( even now ) doing so whenever that notification buzzed on his phone. he’d found that the journey between the two places was short enough for it not to be an arduous task, but still managing to take his time. there was no way that he wanted to seem eager to see her again — not that he particularly was. he enjoyed spending time with her, and the various things they got up to. yet it did not stop him from pining for something he’d lost. maybe he never would. still, he firmly knocked on the front door to her apartment waiting for an answer. “would you hurry the fuck up, i can tell my pizza is getting cold already.” he called. // @wtfxaddie
