stepping into the bar, kai easily noticed an odd tension in the air. music still pumped through the old jukebox, but all eyes were on the movement near the bar counter. the authority in his sister’s tone as she stomped off to a customer was enough to worry kai, quickly approaching her. lifting her petite body, he sprung her around, placing her behind him before returning to the man. “— apologize,” was all kai said, shaking his head in disappointment when the man scoffed but lost it when he threw a vulgar comment at his sister’s way. “time to take out the trash, i guess,” kai’s fingers curled around the man’s shirt, dragging him outside before tossing him onto the metal trash cans. looking at his sister, however, his expression softened. “you’re okay?”
jaina was about ready to throw another punch before realizing it was her brother who lifted her off the ground now. there was no doubt in her mind the guy wasn’t going to apologize so she didn’t as much as flinch while she watched kai take him outside and return without him. “i had that, by the way.” if people kept seeing kai take care of things for jaina, no one would take her seriously--- but she loved him too much to tell him that. after years and years of help she couldn’t just tell him to stop.
It was one of those weeks. Her daughters were staying with their father and Nora found herself spending most of her time alone. Sure, she could always call a friend or even start a new hobby - a big city like Chicago had plenty of activities she could try - but none of it really appealed to her after a long day of work. Lost in her thoughts as she looked around the bar with some interest, Nora only returned to reality when she heard the bartender raising her voice. “Hey, what’s going on here?” she questioned, eyeing the man with clear disdain. “I think it’s time for you to leave.”
Jaina stood almost proudly behind the official looking woman--- no stranger to those types stepping in to help her in Chicago. “I gave D-bag here a good time once and he thinks he’s entitled.” She glared at the man, hands on her hips. His eyes shifted between the two women before finally getting up to leave. “I think I should start carrying a badge or tell people I’m a doctor or whatever--- those are the only ones who get these guys to shut the hell up.”
“— you don’t have to worry about that, I am not a gossippy kind of person – in fact, I don’t even talk all that much, in general,” well, unless the situation calls for it, that is. She’s been known to be able to bite her tongue in the most dangerous situations, but some people were bringing out the worst of her, and God only knows what would’ve happened if she ended up doing something, instead trying to talk it out first.
“This ‘pretty lady’ also has a shiny badge that she…” she trailed off, patting the place she’d usually have it pinned down, “… left at home, apparently.” Misha added, shrugging it off, because it didn’t really matter, now, did it? “I am surprised no one else moved and helped you out with that arsehole – I saw plenty of familiar faces the moment I stepped in,” she commented. “Lazy twats, let me tell ya’.”
“thanks.” jaina nodded in relief--- she wanted to prove she could take care of herself too, her boss was already skeptical of how often people got in fights at the bar. “you sure you don’t want anything though? our chili fries might look like they’ll make you sick but they got the highest rating on the block when the critic came by.” jaina teased.
“you’ll feel at home here then, a bunch of the cops and firefighters like to come here for darts or pool. the hospital staff finds this place a little too rowdy for their tastes, but i can’t blame them.” she smirked. “that and i begged them to let me handle just one on my own. i didn’t exactly plan for my next bar fight to be with sasquatch.”
benjamin’s chuckled, closing his eyes as he attempted to rest for a moment, but jaina’s voice kept interrupting the action, he sighed. “— someone in your neighborhood will wake up to a surprise in their front yard then.” slowly, he cracked open an eye to peek out at her, an impish grin spreading across his lips. “it’s five o’clock somewhere?” he attempted a joke.
“great. can’t wait to explain that one.” she sighed, moving her laptop onto her desk from the edge of her bed and stopping the music that as playing. “that hasn’t work on me for months.” jaina told him with a raised brow. “i can get you coffee-- we can at least attempt to sober your ass up before you go drinking again.”
She had to lift her head up just to look at the man who was basically towering over both of them; still, she liked to think she had a bit of an advantage when it was coming to making some damage to his body. After all, these years she spent on training in her parents’ military base didn’t go to waste – she was able to take down just about anybody if she tried hard enough.
“Wasn’t quite loud enough for me to think it was an acceptable apology, but I did have a good day, so I’ll let you get the fuck out without causing you any harm,” Misha commented, her signature right eyebrow lift made an appearance, “— no need.” After the woman turned to the barmaid, she kindly declined her offer. “Do tell, do those kinds of things happen often ‘round ‘ere? I might want to start visiting this place more often, to unwind.”
Jaina took a few self defense classes here and there, and Kai taught her a couple moves being the over protective brother he is--- but Jaina still hadn’t managed the strength to take on someone bigger than her who was really trying to hurt her. Maybe she’d consider going to the gym now..
“Uhm, fairly often. Don’t tell my boss though or he’ll hire extra security and that takes away from my paycheck. I’m barely making rent as is.” Jaina sighed, fiddling with her fingers as she normally did when she was concerned. “By all means, go ahead. I think some of them would get a kick out of a pretty lady who can whoop ass.”
“so, i might’ve typed the wrong address in the uber app.” the man was stumbling over his words as he drunkenly shouldered past the familiar face who stood at their front door. he slowly found his way to their room, kicking off his shoes with a sigh. “— and i might’ve puked in your landscaping too, and for that - my bad,” he commented sleepily, plopping down on their soft mattress with a content smile. “do you have anything to drink around here?”
“wrong address my ass.” jaina scoffed, letting him in and closing her apartment door before following him to her room. “i don’t have landscaping--- shit if you puked in miss carter’s petunia’s she’ll have your ass on a stick.” she sat down on her bed beside him and looked at him with furrowed brows, “you don’t need anything to drink right now, benji. it’s too early and i just saw you at the bar last night.”
“I MIGHT have just realized that I don’t know when the middle of my life is going to be, so…” She trailed off, making a face. “— instead of having a mid-life crisis I’ve decided to have a perpetually ongoing one.” Reese reasoned, clutching a coffee cup in her hands almost as if her life depended on it. Honestly, she’s been living in a constant state of stress (for obvious to almost everyone reasons) for quite some time now, so technically speaking, it wouldn’t exactly make that big of a difference, now, would it? “I put some energy drink into my coffee, and I’m certain I’m going to die in any time soon,” the lawyer mused, taking a sip from it. Morbid, much? Well, that was just Reese Wolfe for you. Nothing new. “So WORTH IT, though.”
“An ongoing crisis--- sounds legit. Considering when I’m gone I’ll be having a post-life crisis as well.” Jaina smirked, sipping at her own cup. “I top my coffee off with something a little stronger but your job requires you to be sober so I think energy drink is your best bet right now.” She gave Reese a nod and warm smile. “So what’s got you down in the dumps then? I can keep a secret like no one’s business. Like I never told my best friend’s dad she got a tramp stamp... okay, maybe I told you but it doesn’t count. You don’t know MJ. And if you did it’s like totally something she’d do.”
as soon as jay saw the exchange he was up and across the floor with his beer long forgotten. he had been watching the culprit all night but had made no move to step in, he didn’t want to overstep his mark with the establishment staff, but now he had gone too far and jay had thrown his previous stance out of the window. “think about your next words very carefully,” he warned, stepping in between the shorter female and her target. “before i break your arm and make it look like an accident.” instead of heeding jay’s words as a warning, they were taken as challenge and the older male approached. before he could even reach out to the detective, jay had already closed the distance and shoved him towards the door. “next time i will let her get you.”
jaina rolled her eyes when the familiar face stepped in between her and the drunk asshole-- once again. she let jay deal with him though while she promised a few concerned customers that everything was going to be alright and the man would be out of the establishment whether it was his choice or not. when the man started to swing at the detective, jaina took an instinctive step forward just in case she needed to step in again. “forgot something.” she grumbled, grabbing his wallet from the table and throwing it at the man as he got shoved out the door. “consider yourself banned, dick wad.”
It wasn’t often that Misha could be found at a bar, much less one with people who didn’t know how to keep their mouths shut. She saw a rather tiny figure inching closer and closer to the highly intoxicated man and moved her head to the side, squinting, just to be able to take a better look at the situation before it gets too heated.
The agent quickly downed the rest of her drink and pushed herself off the stool; her eyes still trained on the person who’s causing the scene. “— no, no,” she interruped, gently placing her hand on the woman’s shoulder. “Let me take care of this.” Adding, she didn’t even wait a second before getting her approval and shoved the guy. Technically, she couldn’t do anything else, but there was no way she’s going to let him interrupt everyone’s else night out. “It’s your lucky day, mate — you’ll get to choose your own destiny,” she spoke up, “You can either apologize to the lady, or you will collect your teeth off the floor after I beat the shit out of you for disrespecting her…”
Jaina crossed her arms as she stood behind the other woman, she was no stranger to other people intervening for her own safety. Jaina was tiny and she’d gotten hit trying to stop fights before so most people wanted to keep her safe and not send her to the hospital for stitches again.
“I’ve seen plenty things spilled on this floor, teeth would just be another one on my list.” She told the man, putting her hands on her hips as she waited for him to speak. He finally opted with a mumbled apology and left with the other men crowded at his table. “Thanks---” Jaina told the brunette, pushing a strand of hair back behind her ear. “Anything you want, it’s on the house. Yeah?”
She’d been trying to just smile and nod her way through the sea of vulgar comments the drunk man had been giving that entire afternoon, but after one a little too crude for Jaina’s liking, she turned around quickly. “Listen, man, if you wanna keep talking like that you better get out of my bar.” She stormed up to him, pointing an accusing finger.
hey everyone! i’m meg and i’m highkey excited for this rp and i love my smol jaina already. so i’m rlly excited to share her with you all!!
there’s some info & wanted connections under the cut but like this and i’ll hit you up for all the plots xx
Is that ZOEY DEUTCH? No, it’s just Chicago’s own JAINA BRASHER. Their identification will tell you that she is TWENTY-ONE and that she is a BARTENDER. She is known for being ATTENTIVE and CARING but catch them on a bad day and she is STUBBORN and IMPATIENT. (meg/18/pst)
alright so as some of you may know, jaina is kai’s half-sister!!
their mother had an affair with an old family friend and well, it led to jaina and mrs. brasher was hoping it’d be kept secret--- but that wasn’t the case.
she didn’t understand why her ‘father’ never spoke to her or why he refused to feet her at dinner. like jaina is so smol and tiny and she just didn’t understand why someone she wanted to love didn’t love her back.
but kai took care of her and oh my god she loves him immensely. like he literally built her up and made her feel so wanted bc their dad didn’t.
so jaina grows up, she’s a bit of a trouble maker but RLLY she’s a sweetheart and she always means well. she’s tough and doesn’t let anyone walk on her.
throughout high school she had really good grades and took an interest in being a lawyer and like she was so set to go to school and all that but the night of her HS graduation, her boyfriend was killed in a car crash and jaina just lost interest in everything
like she drops out of the law school and just closes in on herself. jaina cares very deeply so when she lost her boyfriend, she took it extremely hard.
its been three years since that incident but jaina’s lawyer dreams are p much over.
now she’s a bartender and loves to pick on all the doctors, detectives, firefighters, etc. bc she’s a brat but she loves all their stories and they’re all her family ok considering she p much works every night
so for wanted connections !!! ;
- childhood friend; friends since they were little, obviously they don’t have to be the same age but jaina was a really sweet kid so i’d love someone who’s seen all her ups and downs and remains close to her.
- ride or die; jaina still gets in a fair amount of trouble at parties, various protests, etc. but this person is always at her side to either encourage her or pull her out if it gets a little too dangerous.
- hookups?; while she’s been good about getting over her boyfriend’s death, jaina is just like any other angsty young adult. especially if it’s late at the bar and some tension needs to be relieved....
- protectors; some of the older adults who come into the bar. jaina’s young and smol so maybe if someone starts arguing with her they step in and help her out. she’d also be interested in all their work stories.
i’m also so down to brainstorm anything!! ily all already <3
