None of this was good. She had been fine, her life was on track. She had a stable job, she was happy god damn it. Mallory barely let herself think about that time in her life, it taught her a lot but she didn’t focus on it. Not when she had things to focus on for the future. She’d been so upset when her old leader called her, now there was barely any of that left, only anger. Mallory wrenched her arm from his touch, like it burned her. “I don’t know that! I don’t fucking know anything other than the fact that I found my boyfriend dead! Then I get a call from Max and he finally tells me the truth.. why the fuck did you kill him? Why couldn’t you let me be fucking happy?!”
Malachi froze for a moment hearing her say that she got a call from Max-- that he was the one who told her. It made sense-- Malachi had snitched, almost fucked everything up for them. It made sense. “Are you listening to yourself? I killed Jordan? You’re going to believe Max over me? You believed--- you even think I’d kill him? Listen to what you’re saying,” he hissed at her, offended she’d even buy into it in the first place.
