Ash could appreciate the other man checking out his bike, moving to stand next to him and join in. He loved his bike, maybe more than anything, and it was probably the only thing he’d ever made himself. His gaze only adverted when he felt Kai touching his shoulder, watching him flick away something that he wasn’t entirely sure was actually there. Shrugging, he responded. “Ash.” After a moment’s silence he made a move to get on the bike, throwing a leg over the large seat as he waited for Kai to be seated behind him. “Hold on tight, alright? If you fall off I’m not sure I can be bothered coming back for you.”
“— Ash - just Ash?” Kai arches his brow, taking the helmet between both his hands and looking to it critically as though imagining the helmet hair was actually going to physically pain him. He sighs, the air pushing through his nose heavily before he forces the helmet onto his crown - instantly feeling partially suffocated by the close proximity of the visor till he flips it up.“You have a really way of reassuring people, you know that right? Honestly, become a motivational speaker, the young minds of America need the exposure.” Swinging his leg gracefully over the back of the bike, Kai fits himself perhaps a little to snugly into the line of Ash’s back; arms wrapping around his waist, fingers curling in leather. “This right?”
“Right? I think I was just about crying for her in there.” She responded, sitting down beside the male to wait for the left over discharge forms. Her eyes traveled to his injuries soon enough, narrowing her eyes. “Surprised you’re not already crying. How the heck did you manage to do that?”
“— don’t worry, first time I banged myself up, I cried like a baby-” Kai inclines his head to the infant in the woman’s arms, with an apologetic smile. “No offence intended. of course. But dancing comes with a warranty for emergency room visits.”
The brunette let out a laugh at Kai’s actions because the bartender deserved feeling a little uncomfortable for the weird looks he kept shooting them, “You’re terribly negative tonight, babe. Next time you’ll choose the location.”
“— I don’t enjoy being stared at like a novelty act.” Attention is what he excels at, at least in the late night hours, but where he usual frequents places where make up on a man is seen as normality - the club they’re in is somewhat toned down to Kai’s usual standards. “I think half the girls in here are envious of my eye liner skills.”
“Excuse me—” Stepping beside someone, he offered them a smile before speaking again. “I’m conducting a survey, and I was wondering what you think about dragons?” Reaching for his notepad, he opened the booklet.
“— They’re hot, rich but probably terrible in bed - to many scales and too little actually being human,” It’s late so he just shrugs, looking tired, perched up on one of the railings overlooking the churning grey waters of the bay.
Poppy locked up her dance studio quickly, her daughter standing next to her and yawning loudly. It wasn’t late, but she had been stuck indoors for more than several hours and so was eager to walk home. As she put the key in her bag and picked up Margot, she turned around and almost jumped out of her skin - “Sh— you scared the life out of me, how long have you been standing there?!”
“— A few seconds, give or take a nanosecond- Sorry, Pop,” Kai looks a little sheepish, smiling behind behind the glitter straining his cheek bones and glinting in the low traffic lights. It’s about mid-afternoon, but it was still stuck to him from the night before; as was the darkened sleepless bruises under his eyes.
Malachi grimaced when he got his focus and saw the man getting up from the ground. “That, uh–” he cut off, distracted by the ball bouncing towards him, scooping it up in his hands. “That didn’t look like it could be considered okay,” he said, looking the boy up and down, with just a small hesitation on his torso. He moved so he could take a look at his back himself, “Antiseptic may be your friend in this situation,” he commented with a small smile.
“— Any little scrape is okay when dislocated shoulder is an alternative,” he answers, twisting a little more to get a closer look which shifts the well trained muscles of his abdomen. “I’ve got some in my bag, but this is gonna be a bitch to cover later - Shit, Karen is gonna have my head on a spike by the end of the week.” The sigh he let’s out is an exhale of air through his nose, his expression stilled for a moment before he smiles somewhat coyly. “Think you could help me out with this at least, since it was your fault - I can’t exactly get my hands around the clean it all that well.”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” Flustered and exhausted, Addie finally found the pacifier and placed it into her crying 5-month-old’s mouth which caused silence to wash over the room now. Even though she had been doing this for almost six months every day seemed to be a new challenge. “Oh my gosh, I am so sorry.” She apologized, before explaining. “She’s got a cold, just been to the doctors and all of that. She inherits her grumpiness from me.” She managed to crack a small smile, packing up her daughters belongings. "I hope I didn’t hold you up.“
He’s have been more snappy if the woman hadn’t looked simply exhausted, his previous irate expression mellowing into a half smile, looking as though he was far more apologetic for her than sympathetic. “I wouldn’t blame her, I’d cry too if I felt terrible like that.” His shoulder lifts in a shrug and drops, one leg out stretched and the knee swollen and purpling with bruises; as was his reason for hanging around the hospital waiting room to be called.
Harley waited while the man decided on whether he should trust his life in her hands. Probably not. Harley was a little reckless when it came to driver, though it had been years since she’d last crashed a bike. “Well, I can’t say this won’t be interesting. But it might also be fun. It’s up to you.”
“— I promise on whatever dignity I’ll have left that I’ll restrain from screaming like a little girl,” Kai says, hands laid splayed over his heart as he smiles in a way which stands out as more a cock-sure grin than sheepishness.
“Only if you asked nicely,” Riley smiled, letting out a laugh as he started heading up the hill. “I’m Riley. Nice to meet you, Wonder Boy.”
“— Don’t insult me, I’m always polite - I’d even tack a please on there for good measure,” His lips twitch into a smile, the ascent of the hill burning the stretch of his calves. “ Same to you, but it’s Kai, not Wonder Boy - else I’d be here calling you Pretty Boy.”
cassidyspencer
At that, Cassidy felt a momentary snag of embarrassment. In her defense, the guy didn’t look older than twenty. However, the same could’ve been said about her, as most people had trouble believing she managed her own business. “Well, I wouldn’t want to be a jackass if I were you. Either call them or Usain Bolt toward there.”
“— Never said I wasn’t a jackass,” He says, lifting and dropping his shoulders in a hapless ‘what can you do?’ sort of shrug. “ Punctuality is great, I love punctuality, but the amount of times I’ve sat waiting for them is ridiculous. Perhaps once I should allow them to stew a little..”

Ash’s eyes diverted down to his fingers where he pretended to look at something on his hand, his other hand still holding onto the mostly empty up of coffee while he could tell Kai was pretending to contemplate his offer. He knew he would take it, for one it it was a drink with him but two, he figured he was going to be late to wherever it was he was going if he didn’t. “Good,” was all he said, turning to throw his cup into the nearby trashcan before he pulled up the seat of his bike, grabbing another, smaller helmet out of the compartment and tossing it in the man’s direction.
“— That’s to be debated,” Kai mutters, none too bitterly, catching the helmet thrown to him with just the response of an arched brow and twitching lips. Maybe, if he wasn’t far past late to his classes, he’d play a little at being hard to get, but with the ever ticking clock against him, Kai steps up the the bike; whistling lowly in appreciation. Just because he didn’t drive, probably never would, didn’t mean he could openly ogle the machinery and the leather clad man who came along with it all. “Whatever can be said about motorbikes, gotta admit it’s a good look.” with glittery paint tipped fingers from the night before, Kai plucks off a piece of invisible lint from Astro’s jacket. “I’m Kai, if you ever thought to ask.”

“Stab? Nah, I think we could have much more fun together that doesn’t include pain,” he pointed out, only to give a little dry and suggestive humor to try and lighten the mood. Riley still had the video at least, so there was that. “Fabulous. I agree. After you, pretty boy.”
“— Would you video that too?” He asks with a seemingly innocent cock to his brow, nimble fingers tugging on the zipper of his hoodie, and pulling it up to save his bared chest from a blast of cold wind. “ I’d like to know before I sign myself up to exhibitionism.”
bellakingsley
“You certainly could have come without the glitter and make up. Netflix will be awaiting you at home.” Nothing would turn Bella’s rather good mood into a bad one tonight. With a glance at the bartender, she rolled her eyes at him and then took a sip of her drink.
“— you insult me, Bels.” The glitter lining his eyes flashes in the pulse of light throughout the bar, and coyly Kai winks over to the bartender, earning him an uncomfortable look as he shuffles off to serve someone else. “Could have chosen a better bar if you were going to kidnap me.”
fckmalachi
Was his head pounding? Yes. Yes, so maybe he was regretting hammering back last night’s specialty drink; going a little too far even for his standards. He regretted it even more when he remembered the stack of essays he had to grade back home. So, sure his head was pounding now, but running was (remarkably) the lesser of two evils. Well, it could have been had he not been so wrapped up in his own head, he found himself colliding head on with another body. “Fuck–” he muttered, collecting his thoughts as well as his balance, “oh shit, sorry about that. You alright mate?”
The sun is filtering low through the evening cover of clouds, dappling sunlight across the studio’s quad. There’s a fine sheen of sweat upon his skin, shining like dew, and Kai rakes a hand back through the mess of his hair as he lines up a shot. Fingertips splayed over the edges of the ball, the impact is unexpected, knocking Kai to the side and sending the ball wide to thump against the building wall just inches from a window pane. His bare back scraps across the asphalt as he takes the brunt of force, rolls up and onto his feet but hissing low through the clench of teeth.“— Ah fuck, yeah man-” With delicate fingers, he twists and probes at the angry red skin. “It’s just a scrape, shit. Look where you’re goin’ next time, okay?”
If you had a friend that spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends?
“— You should take out bets on how long it takes for one of us to murder the other... See, if they were actually feeling the same things which went along with the words, I’d be left out to die in ditch by the end of a week.”
