“i’m in a surprisingly good mood, so lay it on me.”
officermattypayne:
“because it’s what we gotta do. Why are you being such a little bitch and complaining about something that’s gonna take like ten minutes tops.”
“there’s not enough money in the world to make working with your pain in the ass worth it.” he paused for a moment as he silently cursed whoever had paired them together. “c’mon, then. let’s get a fuckin’ move on.”
heynaomi:
a pout came across naomi’s features at that. “okay, one, ouch. two, it’s me or one of the rookies. your pick.”
“see, but the rookies are so eager to please. plus, they’re scared of me, so they’ll do whatever i say.”
ofjenncs:
“if that’s your way of telling me i suck at this game and you’d never pick me as your partner if we were playing with more people then i got news for you, i wouldn’t pick you.”
“well, tell me how you really feel.”
officermattypayne:
“yeah? well, that’s your problem, not mine my dude. i’m not exactly happy about this either.”
“so why the fuck are we doing this then? seems like a waste of time to me.”
andyherrison:
“I’m not a partner - I’m a friend. Oh come on, you know it’ll be fun!”
“this one might be a little hard to convince me on.”
“i don’t do partners.”
chrisherrison:
“That obvious?” Chris huffed, settling his glass down in front of him. “I thought I was blending in okay.” The callout had been enough to make Chris wonder what had made him stand out in the first place. “To being in a bar again I guess.” More like drinking to forget. “You?”
"you’re fine.” a hand waved nonchalantly at their surroundings. “these guys could drink their way through a natural disaster anyway.” pete raised his glass briefly, touching it to his lips. “what else am i gonna do on a sunday night?”
ofjenncs:
his reaction only prompted more laughter out of her that left her nearly breathless despite her attempts to put a stop to it, maybe it was prompted by what jenna knew was about to occur. “i’m sorry.” she let out breathlessly, covering her mouth as the laughter slowly faded away. “i promise whatever happens at this festival stays at this festival. or at least, between us and i won’t tell a soul. that work for you?”
he couldn’t tell if it was just some sort of placebo effect or not, but he could feel something. it was never hard to smile around jenna but the grin kept lingering on his lips. “i think i can live with that. — y’know this isn’t so bad.” dark eyes surveyed their surroundings, head moving ever so slightly to the music blasting through the speakers. “so, since i seem to be having the complete festival experience, what’s next?”
ofjenncs:
“oh my god.” one hand went to cover her lower face in an attempt to hide her laughter at the whole situation. pete was known for his unfamiliarity with a smile and now he could only be lucky if whatever was in that drink wasn’t about to have him just like the two he was referring to. not being able to hold back any longer jenna burst into laughter, grabbing onto his arm as she shook her head quickly. “no way i’m leaving you to ride this out on your own. plus, whatever you’re on is gonna make seeing those hyenas live in concert ten times better.”
“stop.” despite the words, pete couldn’t help his own laughter. anyone who knew him would stop in their tracks if they saw him in this state. the reaction only got worse as she gripped his arm and he bit down on his lip to quash another chuckle. “listen, i can’t be held responsible for the my actions today, alright?”
andyherrison:
“Yay!” Andy was never one to hide her excitement, and even with Pete’s mostly serious demeanor, that never stopped her. In seconds her arm was looped with his and she was attempting to lead the way past the crowds. There was a slowed step when someone would get too close. The last thing she wanted was to accidentally hit anyone. “What does a tight formation even mean?” Andy questioned, dodging a flying frisbee as she did.
the crowd seemed to be getting thicker as they moved to the front and pete was careful to watch his step, steering andy out of the way of potential hazards. “it’s a military formation. the tighter the formation, the harder it is to break through.” as pete spoke, someone jostled their linked arms and he sent a glare in that direction. “clearly it wasn’t invented with festivals in mind.”
ofjenncs:
for a moment, the same wide eyed look mirrored onto jenna’s features at his admission though it didn’t last long as she was now attempting to stifle her laughter. “odds are slim to none.” she began, biting down on her bottom lip. “just one sip?” just one, small one, couldn’t do so much damage. at least, from what she recalled. but jenna was already raking her memory for everything someone could put in a drink to go undetected.
“a few sips.” he thought back on the behaviour that he had witnessed in the short time he had come in contact with the culprit in question. “i’m fucked. her and that kid she hangs out with reminded me of a pack of hyenas. i think jacob’s his name. if i start acting anything like that — save yourself.”
andyherrison:
With most of the town making their way onto the crowd Andy was finally pleased. Now that was the crowd they deserved, a full house. A bright smile crossed her lips along with Pete’s suggestion. One that had her nodding quickly. “It’s the best place to watch. I think Chris is up there saving us a spot.”
normally, pete absolutely abhorred crowds and elbows would have been thrown if someone so much as jostled him. but he strangely didn’t mind this, and he couldn’t tell if he could attribute that to andy’s presence or the spiked drink he had unknowingly consumed. maybe it was bit of both. “alright, let’s go and let’s keep a tight formation.”
andyherrison:
OPEN STARTER. || accepting
“Fairly local is about to come on-” Andy began. She’d been trying to get as many people over to the stage as possible - really, she might as well be handing out brochures. Her smile didn’t falter no matter the response. How could it with the excitement she was feeling? “-you really aren’t going to want to miss it. Trust me!”
pete had received very clear instructions to stand beside andy and look as menacing as possible. if he saw anyone trying to leave the stage area, a glare would steer them back in the right direction. so far, it had been working. “you wanna get spots near the front?”
ofjenncs:
“have you had any of that?” the corners of her lips pulled upwards in a mischevious smile with the question as she reached out for the bottle. knowing sloane, it really could be anything in the one that was kept in pete’s hand. “because it would definitely explain quite a lot about why you’ve been in such a good mood all day.”
a low chuckle left his lips despite himself, head shaking imperceptibly. “clearly, i’m just a ray of sunshine.” obviously, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. then, a realization dawned on him and his eyes widened in horror. “i did have a sip of her drink though. what are the odds that it was just plain old gatorade?”
ofjenncs:
“is this regular water? or-?” the rest of her question was continued with a raise of her brows as if to clue them in on what she meant.
“yeah, as requested.” he passed her the bottle in the question, one still clutched in his free hand. “this one, sloane gave me. so there’s no telling what could be in here.”
viviantrons:
“Is anyone really surprised?” Vivian shrugged, trying to seem nonchalant about the whole thing. She was getting better at that, because she was getting to the point where she genuinely didn’t care if she had his approval or not. She had her own, and that was turning out to be far more important. “I appreciate that.” A genuine smile crossed her lips. “Cheers.” She wasted no time lifting her glass up and downing the shot.
“can’t believe i gave him that much credit,” he agreed. wordlessly, he lifted his own shot, wasting no time in following vivian’s lead. “clubs aren’t really my scene. but since i’m here, might as well get the full experience. any suggestions?”
