to think that claudia was going to be able to have a good day, out and about doing errands without it getting fucked up but of course, in the middle of the shopping centre she had to see, her. she hadn’t spoken or heard from hailey whatsoever since thomas let her in the know about their little thing. she assumed thomas had told hailey that she knew and that the girl was just avoiding her and that was probably the case but seeing her in the flesh now that she knew, claudia couldn’t help but feel all the pain and heartbreak she felt when he told her.
at first it was sadness, she cried when she got back into the car but then, then came the anger. she really knew she could hit someone in that moment, whether it was thomas, hailey or just a random stranger, she was ready to throw a punch. instead of resulting to violence, all she could think about is making thomas feel the same way she felt when he broke her heart in two with the fucked up thing he had done. texting someone who she knew was shit enough to break thomas’ trust, she called his mate matt who, fortunately, was up for seeing her, despite it being out of nowhere and totally late notice, she didn’t care, she needed to get back at tom.
matt understood and honestly, he was all for it and that made it even more fun. she hadn’t fucked anyone other than tom in years so it took her a while to actually make a move on the guy, they made out and eventually, fucked on his bed, quick and easy and although she wasn’t doing this as a stress release like thomas, she couldn’t help but still feel unfulfilled, as if it wasn’t enough. so they fucked again and again until it was almost one in the morning and she knew she had to go home.
walking into the house, she was certain thomas would be up and waiting for her, he had blown up her phone which of course she ignored, being far too angry to speak to thomas via text, she needed to wait until she was home before she could say anything. “so i ran into hailey today…” she spoke, trying to act nonchalant. “i can see why you picked her to fuck, she’s a real hotty hey?” claudia commented, looking him dead in the eye. “i think two wrongs really do make a fucking right because wow i feel so much better.”
it was late, and thomas was worried. he hadn't heard from claudia since the morning, and he had gone through work all day, and had gone through all night without hearing a single thing from her. he figured that when he was at work she was just out busy doing errands, and that was why he hadn't heard from her. thomas had gotten home early, and had ultimately decided to make them dinner, some other recipe he had gotten out of a magazine at his job, but when she didn't show up, thomas simply threw the food onto a plate and covered it with plastic wrap and called it a night. he didn't know where she was, and he texted her fifty times over, getting more worried by the second. at first, he thought that she left him, but things had been going so well for them that he deemed that not an appropriate thought, and that he needed to have a little more faith in her. if she really wanted to leave him, she would, he was sure. once the common, involuntary thought was out of his mind, he began to panic a little bit, his mind then switching to something out of a criminal minds episode. had she been kidnapped or something? that also seem irrational and unlikely. he called her parents, asking if they had heard from her, in which they replied 'no', but stated they'd call him were they to hear anything. he wondered if she had told them something, and they were just covering for her. whatever the reason, thomas didn't believe them, and maybe it was his guilt that made him feel that way.
thomas was sitting on the couch that faced the front door, his head bobbing up and down occasionally as he tried to stay awake. his eyes were heavy, as when thomas became stressed, he often became tired. it was around twelve when he looked at the clock on the wall, and then it was around one when he glanced up again. he must have fallen asleep for an hour or so, because time had seemingly flown by. he stood from the couch, stretching his tense limbs and then making his way toward their bedroom to check to see if she had come home. she hadn't. it was when he rushed back into the living room to check his phone that he heard the front door open and in walked claudia. she spoke the second she saw him, but all he wanted to do was flip out on her, ask her what the fuck had happened, and why she couldn't just have, at least, sent him a text. "what?" his voice had an edge to it, and he wasn't sure if it was because she had just brought up hailey, or the fact that she had been missing the whole fucking day. "what the fuck did you just say?" he stepped closer to her, in almost a primal manner, as his thoughts began to race again, only this time, going to the one place he swore they'd never have to go to. "what the fuck did you do?"
