Filling text with a video in Motion 5
Start a new black project in Motion. After you have started your project you are going to need to import a video to your Motion library. Once you have imported your video file, make sure your playhead is on the first frame and import your video to your Motion project.
It’s best to make sure your canvas is the same size or dimension as your video file, in other words if your video is 1920x1080 then your Motion project should be the same size — for optimal results.
1 - Select the text tool in your Motion 5 toolbar, now choose a nice fat font, something thick looks the best in my opinion, use all caps too. Type out your letters, as an example, type out CRIZZO.
2 - Select your text on your canvas, now press F1 to open the Properties tab, you will need to change the blending mode to Stencil Luma. Now your video file should reside inside your text on your canvas.
3 - Now open your Text tab, or press F4 to open the Text tab, and click on the Apperance tab. Turn on Outline, turn off the Face option. Additionally you can adjust your text to your liking, changing the size, width, color, etc.
4 - Now you will need to add the Grow/Shrink Behavior to your project. First though you will need to make sure you project is all in the same Group. If not, go ahead and drag all your layers in the a single Group. Now go to your Behaviors (press Command + 2), select Basic Motion > Grow/Shrink > Make sure your Group is highlighted, if so press Apply to add the Grow Shrink Behavior to your project. You can also drag and drop it on your Group as well. Adjust the effect to your liking.
5 - Export your project and upload. Enjoy.

HomePod review: Sounds great, easy to setup, lack of an interface is clumsy at times.

“In this episode, Mark Spencer shows you a clever tip that allows you to replace temporary watermarked music with the non-watermarked version, without having to do a re-edit in Final Cut Pro X.”
This is such a great tip! If you have ever used watermarked tracks to make sure the sounds work well with your videos, then you will know this is a life saver!Â
"Could we somehow make smaller proxy files just like the days of FCP7 that could be sent more quickly via the Internet and still relink to the original media?"
“We all know how successful one-click editing with proxies has been in Final Cut Pro X. So good that Adobe has gone and copied developed the workflow as well! But what happens when you want to make the proxies even smaller so they could be transferred over the net to a remote editor? Sam Woodhall and Ben King experimented and found a way to make low resolution proxies to squeeze down a small internet connection.”

The Essentials preset pack comes bundled with 13 high-quality presets for only $8.99.
“Over a dozen high-quality presets for instant detail enhancement, monochrome conversion, dreamy effect, outdoor photography and much more. This pack was developed by Macphun Team in collaboration with pro photographers, and works great with all types of images.”
The Essentials preset pack is probably my favorite of the preset bundles that I have installed on my machine. I think the effects look great out of the box. Most of the effects are ready to go, where I don’t have to make any additional adjustments other than maybe toning down the overall effect of whichever effect I chose to apply to my photo.

Noble Monochromatic Preset Pack for Luminar
The Noble Monochromatic Preset Pack for Luminar is a $6.99 preset pack that features 9 filter/effects that can be applied to your photo inside of Luminar.
With this monochromatic preset pack, the ideal photos would be architecture or portrait, in my opinion; but, of course you can apply to any photo you feel is worthy of the effect. I do like the black/white look that the effects in this bundle offer. I enjoy applying these effects on aerial shots of buildings or architecture. Check my demo video above for an example of all the effects that are included in this preset pack.
“9 monochrome presets that will give you precise control of detail, shadows, highlights, and delicate tonality. Macphun Team collaborated with pro photographers to create this pack for perfect black & white photos.”
You can purchase the Noble Monochromatic Preset from the Macphun website: https://macphun.com/luminar/new-presets.

iMac Pro
If you are a Final Cut Pro X editor, or any editor for that matter, what are your thoughts on the new iMac Pro? For me, this is all I could ask for and more!Â
I love the all-in-design, but with the power of a real desktop. I currently use a 2014 iMac to edit on at home, and I have a 2013 Mac Pro at work, so this is a nice mash-up of the two machines. Only so much more powerful than anything I have used in quite a while, at least on the Mac side of things.Â
