[Nari] It seemed like everyone in the Greenleaf courts was destined to die before him. At this point, Motonari was so used to death that there was no shock anymore, just the overwhelming dread. A walk around the gardens ended up at the Gogoat stables, a hand absentmindedly swiping against the gates as he strolled by. A particular Gogoat stuck it's nose out to greet the hand, one who's shine he recognized right away: Takamoto's, and now Motoyasu's. They would grieve together in silence.
My muse is dead. Tell me how yours is dealing with it.
My muse is dead. Tell me how yours is dealing with it.
For every “⏳” I receive, my muse will openly talk about a bit of their backstory.
assorted angst starters
“What happens when you die? What do we do then?”
“You look like shit.”
“You have to run. They’re looking for you.”
“Don’t worry about me.”
“What did they do to you?”
“I’ve got you.”
“Walk it off, sport.”
“Don’t be stupid. Let me help.”
“Trust me, I’ve been there.”
“Why didn’t you tell anyone it was this bad?”
“I didn’t want you to find out this way.”
“You wouldn’t understand.”
“You’re a terrible liar.”
“I am your friend. You’ve got me.”
“Are you lonely?”
“Get the fuck out of here!”
“I guess this is goodbye.”
“I’ve been through worse.”
“Can you stop thinking about yourself for once?”
“Of course I’m pissed!”
“Who did this?!”
“Why did you do this?”
“I don’t expect you to forgive me.”
“Save it. You can hate me later.”
“You don’t need permission to cry. It’s okay.”
“Life isn’t fair.”
“You want to be a hero? Is that it?”
“I wasn’t meant to survive this.”
“You won’t survive.”
“Feel better?”
“We can’t go back to who we were before.”
“you lose someone?”

Kobayakawa Takakage, requested by @bow-of-burning-gold
the rumors are true: im soft and i just want to be loved
fearoffallingapart:
He opened his mouth, about to apologize again, but quickly snapped it shut. Never his fault, hunh? Even after everything, he was still being kind to him. Even letting him still live in the castle, giving him a second chance by letting him be Takakage’s retainer. He takes a quiet, deep breath.
“You should eat something, Lord Motonari.” He sets the tray in his hands on the table. A cup of tea and some fruit slices. “I had heard you have not been lately.” He wasn’t the only one– the black paint was starting to make a come back on Motoyasu’s canvases.
“Even just a little, My Lord.”
Motonari only glanced over at the tray when they disturbed the beads laying the table, the soft scratching of wood against wood drawing his attention from the scene that plagued him in his mind’s eye. He had watched it so many times now, wondering if there really was anything that could have been done.
A man could only watch their son die so many times.
“I’m not hungry,” he mumbled, nudging the tray out of his field of vision. Even smelling it was making him nauseous. “Thank you, though. You’re free to go.”
He felt his hand lightly ball into a fist. Is this how Takakage had been feeling trying to get him to eat lately? He was going to have to remember to apologize to him later.
"You need to eat, Lord Motonari." His voice is soft but firm. When he speaks up next, it's quiet, worried.
"At least a little, please. And then I will leave, I promise. Just do not wish to leave you like this."
@fearoffallingapart
“I don’t suppose you’d be willing to follow around Motoharu instead for awhile? At least until he gets it into his head to stop licking rocks?”
"I feel like it is more like he will find some way to get me to lick rocks." He gave a quiet sigh. "But I guess I can help keep an eye on him."
"Lord Motonari--!!!"
fearoffallingapart:
He had snapped at him earlier. He had placed the blame on his shoulders when instead it should have resided on his own. This man had taken him in, showed him kindness even when he had been nothing but a pain. He hadn’t protected his son. He had taken his anger out on the wrong person.
And he feels horrible.
“I should have never had raised my voice at you, Lord Motonari.” His voice is barely over a whisper, hoarse from crying. “I should have been more vigilant. I apologize.”
His eyes closed as he sighed, the beads clinking softly against the table as he let them fall from his fingers.
“I’m tired of apologies.” He said, voice quiet. “Don’t apologize again. Sorry means nothing.”
Sorry didn’t fix anything. Sorry just dismissed it all, shoving it under a rug to be forgotten and forgiven. He’d long since forgiven Motoyasu, of course, the same as he’d forgiven Hiroko.
Dragnor……..never. No more forgiveness.
“But………you’re fine, Motoyasu,” he tacked on after a bit, “It’s never been your fault.”
He opened his mouth, about to apologize again, but quickly snapped it shut. Never his fault, hunh? Even after everything, he was still being kind to him. Even letting him still live in the castle, giving him a second chance by letting him be Takakage's retainer. He takes a quiet, deep breath.

“Lord Motonari…..”
He’s out of words.
He’s out of everything now, crumpled at his desk. One hand held up his head by his forehead, Takamoto’s prayer beads making their way through the other.
Everything had left him. Everything. His will to move, live, eat, talk. Gone.
He had snapped at him earlier. He had placed the blame on his shoulders when instead it should have resided on his own. This man had taken him in, showed him kindness even when he had been nothing but a pain. He hadn’t protected his son. He had taken his anger out on the wrong person.
