I am not entirely certain how this works, but I suppose I ought to introduce myself now that I have finally returned to myself as well as from... wherever it is I have been.

I am Dr. Pembroke - physician, surgeon, and researcher of the esoteric. I have been, for want of a better word, stranded in a time that is not my own. Ascertaining the why and how has yielded no answers, so I have resigned to settling in and continuing what research I can.

This is an au for @of-buzzing-melodies, displaced in time from ~1825, some time into his work for Jonah Magnus.

Unaffiliated with any Fear, but most prominently marked by the Lonely, the Eye, and the Corruption. Willing subject to be Beheld.

Methods for dealing with stubborn patients?

Hm. I quite like to talk them through what will be done, if they are capable of reason, and continue as I work. This is most effective with the children. This is for... less invasive cases.

On the matter of operation, good restraints cannot be overlooked, and a trustworthy host of dressers is absolute necessity. I have read that anaesthetics have made great advancement since my days... I can scarcely imagine what the modern theatres look like.

Absolutely detestable. I was never in agreement with my contemporaries as it came to this. They insisted upon its practical use and application, the betterment of minds and such... I could never see it as anything other than harm.
