This scene is so good and the acting in this drama OMG!

One of the biggest tragedies in this drama is that for all his brain and all his drive, Ning Yi is never monster enough.

Such a wonderful moment - he only opens up to two people - his advisor and her.

And the tragedy of this drama for me is that his fear comes true because in that family you either become a monster or you die. Look at the Emperor - he’s a monster but if he wasn’t he’d be dead.

Humanity gets slowly ground out of you bit by bit and this is a rare drama, like Royal Nirvana or GMP, where we get to watch, helpless in the face of that impending catastrophe. And to me, Ning Yi’s tragedy is that, like MLs of RN and GMP is that he’s not monster ENOUGH.
