Kimber Lee Fowl, also known as Silverwing, is a Korean American who was raised by her strict grandfather after her father left the family. Her mother became emotionally distant, leaving Kimber in her grandfather's care. Growing up lonely and yearning for affection, Kimber believed that if she worked hard enough, she could earn her grandfather's approval. Determined to please him, she devoted herself to her studies, learned the violin, and even took up martial arts such as competitive Wushu. Despite all her efforts, she never received the praise she desperately wanted.
Wanting to fit in, Kimber fell in with a group of friends who cared more about her money and generosity than her company. One day, on a dare, she agreed to meet at an abandoned LexCorp warehouse and climbed onto a fragile walkway, which soon collapsed beneath her. Instead of helping, her friends laughed and ran away, leaving her behind.
Knocked unconscious, she awoke in a panic and instinctively squeezed out of the wreckage to escape. Shaken and in shock, she somehow managed to make it home, but remained bedridden for days. Unbeknownst to her, inhaling experimental LexCorp chemicals had activated her dormant metagene, transforming her into a metahuman. During her panic, she unknowingly bent the steel wreckage around her as she escaped.
After she recovered and reflected on the incident, Kimber was consumed by anger and discovered that she could manipulate her mother's silver necklace. Thoughts of revenge against the people who had abandoned her quickly crossed her mind, but she stopped when she realized what her negative emotions were turning her into.
Hurt and traumatized by the incident, Kimber became more stoic and decided to leave her old life behind. Hoping for a fresh start, she moved to Jump City.
+ METAL MANIPULATION
For a long time, Kimber believed she could only manipulate silver, making her powers seem limited and unreliable. As her abilities developed, she discovered that her true metahuman power was metal manipulation, allowing her to sense, move, shape, and control metallic objects with her mind.
In the early stages, using her powers placed significant strain on her body. Overuse could cause severe migraines, nosebleeds, dizziness, and exhaustion. The larger or more complex the object, the greater the physical and mental effort required to control it.
Strong emotions also affect her abilities. When overwhelmed, angry, or distressed, nearby metal may react unintentionally, making her powers unstable during moments of high stress.
As she gains experience and training, Kimber gradually develops better control, precision, and understanding of her abilities.
+ INTERMEDIATE MARTIAL ARTS
Kimber has a background in martial arts, particularly competitive Wushu and Tai Chi, which she studied because of her grandfather. Her training gave her strong discipline, balance, and body control. It also helped her stay focused and regulate her emotions while learning to use her powers.
Although she competed in Wushu, Kimber later realized its focus on performance was different from practical self-defense. She eventually continued her training in a more traditional martial art to develop real combat skills.
+ After gaining her powers, Kimber had no desire to become a superhero. Believing she could only manipulate silver, she considered her abilities weak and not worth revealing. Combined with her low self-esteem and trauma, she chose to keep her powers hidden and live a normal life.
+ Despite wanting a quiet life, trouble often seems to find Kimber. Unable to ignore those in need, she occasionally steps in to help, which gradually catches the Titans' attention.
+ Kimber's grandfather is the founder and chairman of Haneul Industries, a leading renewable energy company. Due to his position, she is occasionally expected to attend corporate events and public functions, where she maintains a polite smile despite feeling uncomfortable.
+ Her grandfather believes that providing a home, food, education, and opportunities is his way of showing love. While he pushed Kimber to succeed, he rarely expressed affection or praised her achievements, leaving her constantly seeking his approval.
+ After the incident at the abandoned LexCorp warehouse, Kimber developed claustrophobia and began to feel uneasy in confined spaces.
+ Silverwing was a nickname given to Kimber by the Titans after they believed she could only manipulate silver. Although they later discovered her powers extended to all metals, the name remained and eventually became her official hero identity.
