Unfortunately, due to both lack of activity and lack of muse (perhaps both cause one another) I am putting Howl onto Hiatus - how long for is currently unknown. “Hmm…yes, you could say that,” she replied with a small smile. The world was also recovering, and she swore she could sense its strength every day. Maybe it was a lasting effect from Aerith’s touch upon the planet. A way to keep them all tethered. 

“It’s been a very long road of recovery, but I feel hope refilling the eyes of those around us here every day. It’s a welcome sight, to be honest. Edge may still be in shambles here and there, but the human spirit is strong. I believe we will fully recuperate and become stronger for it.”

Tifa wondered what Howl was doing here. She couldn’t help it – he was obviously a skilled mage of some kind. From another place altogether. What would keep him here, of all places?

      [╰☆╮]         “Every road of recovery is long but it is the journey itself that builds bonds and mends hardships, no? Every day is a second chance. Incredible things happen in life when the decision is made to take control over what one has instead of craving power over what one wants. It seems as things here are beautifully recovering and certainly, the strength of those here is rather obvious. Faith conquers all, hm?” He was impressed, certainly – never had he seen a group of people so strong and resilient to the pains of existence and the hardships they had come through. Ah, he may not have shown it or suggested anything of the sort, but it certainly made Howl seem thrice the Coward in comparison. He was running from his own issues, though he had no such support network as all within the city seemed to have within one another.

Zack was quick to approach his companion (lover..?), fingers intertwining with Howl’s own to silently assure his presence.

       The wizard was pressing in much closer then as if to attempt to get across what it was he needed. Though there was no true way to resist such temptation regardless, and soon he found himself cupping the side of his cheek. Fingers brushed across his delicate features to his jawline before finally stealing a kiss from soft, pink lips.

         [╰☆╮]         Utterly petrified the youthful wizard was, unable to steady himself as his mind simply ran wild within his skull. If not for the hand that found his own and the very familiar sense that came with the presence he was certain he would have had some variety of breakdown. “I can’t see-!” A quick murmur, a terrified break in his voice accompanying words. Tightly, oh so tightly did he press close, seeking warmth and comfort in the... endless dark only he could witness. Fingers to his skin provided further reassurance, the kiss that followed far more comforting than anything else h could have hoped for. When eyes opened, he was able to see dark shadows and light spots, his vision making a gradual attempt at a return. “...thank you-” Such a tiny whisper, muffled from his face buried within the other male’s shoulder. His savior, his hero.

The bright world around him had begunto fade into a dull black and white, and before he knew it, it had vanishedcompletely into darkness. No matter how continuallyhe blinked his eyes, he could not bring forth his vision, he could not see. Panicked breaths were drawn in as he attempted to remain exactly where he was, to prevent getting lost or putting himselfinto any danger.

The days had bled into weeks and time stood as if there had been no shift between his arrival to Kingsbury and now. The apprentice dearly wanted to earn his freedom to return to his own continent as a SOLDIER. It’s what he had trained for, and what he believed he was born to be. He was ill-suited to be under command as a student learning entirely new crafts that frustrated and confused the honed warrior who felt a homesickness for a time and place he couldn’t return to. Not without the help of another who stood beside him in the hail of rain.

The smouldering husk of a shop belonging to “Jenkin the Sorcerer” stood before them and served as a severe reminder of Genesis’ own temper, and an inept control over raw magic he had no right to wield without a guiding hand. He’d seen white-hot anger, one swipe of his hand, then this. By Minerva’s grace, he hadn’t meant to do this. He was a soul meant for destruction on the battlefield, not for a livelihood.

Lips parted at the sudden onslaught from the heaven’s above as he was cast aside a social pariah for the town to behold. He cast a quiet look over to Howl’s thundering mood, then turned to glance the turbulent shift in the ocean. As he stood he found an impossible crossroads: to go home unable to rejoin his ranks, or to follow Howl and conceivably finish his apprenticeship. Neither spoke to him.

Until, of course, Howl spun around.

Genesis scoffed, daring to raise his chin with haughty indigence at the slew of insults so eloquently strewn for his small mishap. He hadn’t lit the fire on purpose. “I beg your pardon?” he dared to ask. “If it hadn’t been for your indifferent, unenthused mimicry on how to teach a student this would never have happened- you- proud dorbel!” He spoke from anger, evident in the way his palms spattered and smoked with flames drenched by the weather.

He bared his teeth in a bone-crunching display of his upset, tugging the ruined coat around his lithe bone-soaked frame as he marched on. “You will let me in, Sir, and I shall gather my belongings! I shall bid you farewell!” He didn’t know why he was furiously marching onward against the blinding howl of wind and rain. He’d only have to wait for Howl to permit him entry inside his castle if he reached it first, and he had an inkling that his stewing and the likely refusal of entry would leave him chasing a hobbling junk-behemoth in the dark. Just his luck, really.

    [╰☆╮]       Nothing could be done in regards to the shop, he would simply have to relocate… wait for the flames to perish in the rain and water and return to survey the damage to the building itself. If at all possible, it would eventually be restored but as of now the sheer fact the escapade had come about was unusually boiling the wizard’s blood. Everything he had built, everything he had ever worked toward had almost been lost within the flames – if it had not been for Calcifer severing the portal there then… the entire castle could have been lost. If that had been so… Howl feared there would have been very little holding him back from tossing his apprentice in with the flames. Well – at least they were both alive. Words spat in response to his very own reared the beast within the wizard further, the anger that dwelled inside untamable by one of whom was void of a heart. Dangerous territory was being trodden by both men – both angered by the situation, both seeking an outlet that certainly should not have been one another; prideful ego’s were clashing. “How dare you!” Howl’s tongue snapped, vexation not only directed to his supposed apprentice but also toward Suliman for sending him such an oaf. “If you had even a shred of decency, you’d have listened when required! But your suffocating ego prevents you from stepping off of your self-important pedestal to listen to any other but the indulgent voice in your head!” The two men had much in common – both were self-sure, both were proud of themselves for differing reasons.  Ignored went the spluttering flames within the other’s hands; in fact, Howl’s glassy blue eyes reflected only the looming storm and the utter irritation held in its intensity within his chest. Nothing was done as his supposed companion stormed past him with as much energy as the rumbling clouds above and the damned rain that soaked through velvet and cotton. “I shall do no such thing! You shall remain outdoors in this ghastly weather until you have dampened your ego enough to apologize!” Words called after his apprentice, own steps soon moving to follow. He cared not for anything other than getting home and dry – but if one had been paying enough attention, they’d have noticed a small shred of fear laced into words spat in venom. It Genesis left before his tuition was complete, it would leave him dangerous… not only that, but it would violate Howl’s own oath to the palace…  Suliman had sent his apprentice along with a direct order to tutor him until completion. Without achieving such, he would face consequences he wished not to think of. But he kept digging, he repressed his fears in favor of wishing for the upper hand. “You shall not leave here, savage wretch. You and your bloated ego shall be taught a lesson. Your so called friends may have tolerated your apparent brutishness but I certainly shall not. But of course, with your current levels of impotence you shall not be able to return to plague them.”

7. Our muses are standing outside in the rain sharing an umbrella because a fire tragically burnt down the Porthaven shop, no it's your fault fight me.

     [╰☆╮]       With great servings of reluctanceHowl had taken on his apprentice under strict guidance by Suliman herself –she had assured him that all would go smoothly, that it would pass by with sucha vast speed that by the time the young male within the wizards company hadbeen trained, they would feel as if it had only been yesterday that he had arrived. Of course, Suliman held rather agreat deal of ulterior motives, and indeed wished for another to keep a closeeye on Howl for a space of time but – Never had Howl himself thought anythingsuch as this would happen.Outside he stood, umbrella poised over his head while his apprentice shared thesame space; both watching the flames take over the Porthaven shop as bustlingwinds and horrendous rain plummeted from the heavens above. Firefightersflocked to try and control the blaze before it affected any of the neighboringresidences – hardly a concern of the wizard for his largest concern belonged tothat of the gateway that had beenpresent in the doorway itself. The shell of the shop was empty, magic was usedto project the inside of the castle into the shop itself… so when the flamestook a hold, it only burnt the shop… not the actual interior.Unfortunately, it had broke the connection with the castle and now they were stranded with a rather long walk back tothe waste lands ahead of them; there the castle would meet them once out ofview of the town. It would take hours, and the storm was only growing worse; tosay Howl was vexed would have been asevere understatement.He wasn’t about to question anything regardingwhat had happened, only that now Genesis had lost every allowance he had gained with regards to books and supplies –Howl would turn selfish to show hisdistaste.Without a sign, Howl spun on his heels and began to walk off, leaving his apprenticewithin the pouring rain to follow if he so wished – as of the moment the blondecould not bring himself to care whathappened to his comrade. His mood was a foul one. How dare Suliman send him someone so – so damn insubordinate! Not a word hadbeen adhered to.“You insufferable, cocksure, insolent bespawler.” A pause as he turned on his heels; “I suggest you think of a way to fix this mess and I shant let you within my castle walls until you have done so - thunderous rain outdoors or otherwise.” Chances were he would let Genesis back indoors... he just wouldn’t talk to him for a while - a few weeks... maybe a month.

          ✘ ‘Yes - Imperia.’ With no thought to elaborate, the soldier simply restated. Not once did it cross his mind to provide an explanation for the man as he continued to study the innards of the house; it was definitely not as clean as it could be…

Elena would be bothered by the state.

 ‘You would house a stranger?’ The comment was quick, though tones of curiosity were hinted at; Aeron would not be so kind if a stranger happened upon his and Elena’s place they called home.

Nevertheless, he hesitantly made a move to seat himself on a rather worn looking chair, armour producing quiet clinking sounds as he did so - All he wanted was a warm bath and a change of clothes, which he doubted would happen any time soon.

Absentmindedly, blunt nails began to scratch at a patch of dried blood that stained the armour.

‘Howl. And… Calcifer. A pleasure.’ A ghost of a smile masked pallid brims as he offered a silent thanks, mind wandering rather quickly - He missed Elena.

It still registered no knowledge within the Wizardsmind but there was certainly ways he would be able to discover such a place ina rather swift amount of time if he so chose to. Of course, getting the poorfellow home where he belonged was apriority; not only did he wish for his solitude back but no doubt the fellowhimself wished for familiarity in the pavements of whence he came. “Indeed. I come across many strangers and since your predicament here is partiallymy fault it would only be right of me to offer lodging until one such issue is fixed.” Yes – he would allowthe male to stay until he was able to repair the portal and fixate it to wherethe male had crossed through. It would be as if he had never stepped a footwrong. All would be back to as it should be, if only he had the energy tobegin. “You are more than welcome to make yourself at home – the bathroom is thefourth door on the left up the stairs and there are clothes you are welcome toin the cupboard. No doubt you would be more comfortable out of armor for now asI do not know how long it shall take me to get you home.”

        [╰☆╮]        The intense aches of bruising began to set into bones and muscle, the throbbing radiating through his entire back and shoulders; no doubt it had already begun to flourish into deep purples and blues, like paint upon a canvas of porcelain. Breathing was still shallow, ragged, mind claimed by a sense of dizzying satisfaction, scarcely able to look straight anywhere; borderline senseless. Such a gentle kiss unto his lips after such intensity was welcomed, the more loving taste remaining upon his skin. But only a short hum was given, head moving to rest against his companions shoulder, falling almost lip within the strong male’s arms. Exhausted, bruised. As he rested there he intertwined his long fingers through raven hair once more, far more delicately then previously; perhaps a sign of affection, of appreciation.

The journey from Midgar had been long and tiring, traveling from another continent to seek the guiding hand of a wizard hadn’t been one of Genesis’ childhood fantasies. Especially not when he’d celebrated his 27th birthday a mere week before.

It had been an unfortunate blessing on his behalf. A natural talent for raw fire-borne magic he’d discovered when he was a wee devil. He’d kept his talent a guarded secret, but as with all secrets his eventually slipped out. There wasn’t backlash or condemnation, rather he found himself lavished with praise and well wishes, and soon thereafter was packed up and shipped off to face Suliman’s prodigy.

The soldier wasn’t enthusiastic. He’d joined the military from a young age, had flourished there and rose through the ranks before he was legally allowed to drink. One slip-up, and that life was gone. Unfit for service, they said.

Genesis knew they’d take him back if his training was successful. A well-tuned war machine who practiced magic would be a valuable commodity for the Shin-Ra empire across the seas.

Auburn hair wildly tousled with the billowing wind as blue eyes lidded with boredom searched the crowd for his new master. He assumed Howl Pendragon was a stuffy older gentleman set in his ways, and as he stepped onto the platform with his leather bound suitcase a frown pulled otherwise handsome features into an unsightly declaration of his confusion. Had the old man forgotten..?

Gaia. He supposed ‘lost in Kingsbury’ wasn’t a dire problem but an address would have been appreciated. “Excuse me,” Genesis nodded to a sagely figure clad in what appeared to be an extravagant grey and scarlet suit. “Would you perchance know where I could find the Wizard Pendragon?”

         [╰☆╮]        Observing the train platform as folks alighted the carriage itself was a dull task – there had been much he should have been preparing for his apprentice’s arrival rather than waiting for him to arrive, but polite he would be. Certainly, he would have to be so until he met the fellow, only then could he judge just how well this escapade would play out. With his arms folded across his chest, he continued to wait and observe those leaving the station as well as those lingering to collect baggage or greet family. T’was not uncommon at that time of year, for distant family to visit during the summer months to enjoy the large city, the royal festivals that were often thrown and indeed, the small town of Porthaven with its beach and wonderful views was but only a forty minute bus ride away. Kingsbury was a hub, hustling and bustling with people and fashion, with glorious expenses and the upperclass. Howl himself despised the place, or more – the folk that lived within it. All the women he had met and courted there turned out to be rather similar to one another;  bought up a certain way, told to act a certain way – they all ended up the same boring, personality-less beings. The only humor he had gotten out of such was the reward they had offered for his discovery once he walked away from them permanently. He’d undergone quite the physical appearance change since then; there was little chance of recognizing him. Thoughts were disturbed however when greeted, glassy blue eyes falling upon a figure as his head turned marginally; blonde hair fell perfectly around his facial features, the gentle tousle of his emerald earrings giving only slight clicking noises barely heard over the release of steam from the train. This must have been the fellow; he matched the photograph after all- “You have found him, my good sir. Genesis, I presume?” A hand was offered in a rather flourished manner, the jacket loosely poised onto shoulders appearing as if it threatened to slip away but somehow remained when such hand was extended in greeting. “…I do hope your journey was none too vexing.”
