How I Met Charlie Papazian
Last-last weekend was The Maine Brewers Guild Beer Festival. It was actually a beautiful day… sunny, hot, summery. I feel like every brew fest in the last two years has been rainy, or just in a sucky place. The Maine Pier was not a sucky place to have a brew fest. It was awesome, actually. There was also some awesome beer. What was more awesome-er, however, was the fact that I got to meet the man who guided me through brewing all-grain beer at home.
Yes, that would be Charlie Papazian, author of “The Joy of Home Brewing"….probably originally published during the era of such titles as; “The Joy of Cooking", and “The Joy of Sex"….
Anyways, when I spotted him at the festival, I awkwardly, border line inappropriately, squealed with delight then hugged him…because, you know, we’re tight. And then, when he realized that I was just a harmless fan (AKA “cute girl hugging me"), he was soooo laid-back and interested in my beer that I soon realized that he was actually having a conversation with me. I wasn’t there. I mean I was there, there, but I was still too shocked, and/or embarrassed that I could only say a few words to him. So that was pretty much my encounter. I was too googley-eyed to even have him sign my personal copy of his book! (Yes, I brought it to the beer festival) I did at least have some guts enough to ask him for this photo:
Notice how I look like I am about to cry…or pee, not sure which.
The Evolution of a Tech-tard
So I cried when I got my first cell phone. This doesn't have anything to do with beer. However, this does have to do with the fact that I now have the ability to cyber-stalk other beer dorks who drink, like, and then talk about delicious barely soda. I like this. So I thought maybe I should join them... since I also drink, like, and talk about beer. ALOT. I also really like food. Good food. I also like to forage for food. Some of this food I like to put in beer that I make. I make beer. I like beer. Did I already say that? Oh, yeah...and I have really bad ADHD. Cheers!
