TBH I’ve been sitting on that indulgent AU for a long time and never posted about it. And now that I’ve gone kind of ham I should talk about what I had in mind:
The Cosmog line works in a cycle of stardust; they are born of it and return to be part of the cosmos once they die. In a sense, it’s almost reincarnation, because the scattered star matter that once made a specific Solgaleo and Lunala eons ago was reborn into Looker and Anabel respectively. They are just normal humans though, as that is just how the energy reworked itself. The two agents go through their lives, become Fallers, but feel a strange sort of connection when the two meet one another… And don’t really know why.
Through some villainous plot involving control over Ultra Space, Anabel is tracked down for having a particular aura around her. The Ultra Energy radiating from her is STAGGERING… And it resembles the energy readings of a certain difficult to obtain Pokemon to an almost near match. A super dangerous situation causes Anabel to either sacrifice herself or someone else forces a transformation onto her– Nevertheless, she becomes some sort of monstrous hybridization of an Earth organism and Lunala.
Of course, when Looker learns of this, he also realizes Anabel is technically no more. She has lost her sense of self, her body, and her mind, as she now flies through the moonlit sky carried by a new instinct alone.
The antagonists of this plot line would want to capture Lunalabel to extract energy from her, as she is now the perfect source of pure matter AND an effective weapon. A brand new legendary to collect. At the same time, Looker goes around learning about how this happened and why. There is nothing he can do to reverse Lunalabel, however. Though he refuses to give up, hope is gradually being lost.
But what he can do is to prevent anyone from hurting Anabel, ever again.
An act of pure adrenaline and exposure to Lunalabel awakens something dormant within Looker’s own being. To ensure her safety, he sacrifices his humanity and takes on a monstrous version of Solgaleo. When the threat is finally taken care of, at least now, she will not be alone.
Necrozma, restored some time ago by the help of the protags, URS, and Looker and Anabel themselves, recognize the two’s plight and repays the kindness. The two agents are returned to their original state of being; human, and together.
The energy left over becomes a new Cosmog, which flies off into the cosmos, continuing the cycle of stardust.
