Saw someone post this on Facebook:
And like, if this is you, here's a screenshot that will shake your worldview to the core:
(to put this into perspective: if you played one of these games per day, it would take you almost 33 years before you're done)
I hear you. However, I have an issue with how the majority of people want to get others to play something else other than D&D. The "D&D bad, try everything else" approach can be off-putting. There's a whole world of TTRPGs out there, but negativity rarely fosters exploration, especially when people badmouth D&D and belittle those that only have/want to play D&D.
I have an issue with how many people have been dismissive of other games even when I've been nice about it so now I'm less concerned about fostering their exploration than I am about defending my passion from active, aggressive contempt.
After reading the comments and tags, I'll say this: I've been a GM for over a decade now. I'm experienced, and I'm good at what I do. With my players, new players especially, I have a motto of patience, understanding, and kindness. If you're at my table, you have my full, undivided attention. No question is too dumb to answer, no problem is too simple to solve. I will help you get to a place where you're having fun, no matter how long it takes.
The problem lies with the gap between me and potential players. I'm so willing to help someone find a game that will be fun and engaging for them. The single caveat is that you have to try, and a lot of people won't. I absolutely agree that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. I also absolutely agree that people should be pressured to try new things. If you try other games and still find yourself coming back to 5e, that's totally fine. But please, I'm begging you, try. Be communicative about your preferences, be open with your table about what you want to experience, be willing to work with your GM, and above all else, please be willing to try new things. That's all I'll ever ask of any player. If that can get done, then I will give 5e players every hour of the day to help them transition.
All this, but I’m perplexed how the meme maker thought D&D was one of the cheaper TTRPGs.
It's the "walled garden."
D&D5e and its marketing team have deliberately constructed an industry ecosystem that obscures competitors instead of directly competing against them, and they can only really do this because they are basically a monopoly.
Because D&D5e players are allowed to know so little about other TTRPGs, they are led to believe that D&D5e is the default way a TTRPG is. Any flaw and critcism of D&D5e therefore, logically, must apply to all TTRPGs, even ones they have never heard of.
D&D5e is massively expensive, therefore all TTRPGs must be massively expensive, and there's no way they could afford to buy new rulebooks, so they just make memes like this and don't even try.
D&D5e combat sucks, therefore all TTRPG combat must suck.
D&D5e is hard to learn and ineligantly designed, therefore all TTRPGs must be hard to learn and ineligantly designed.
In this way, WotC never has to improve their shit to compete in the market, because the lower the customer's opinion of D&D5e falls, the lower the customer's opinion of all competitors falls with it.
If you're reading this and you are at all interested in trying anything outside of D&D5e, but don't know where to start, here is a link to a post with a bunch of resources for doing just that.
Okay I’m being a little dramatic, but at the same time I’m pretty serious. This is a call to action, and the livelihoods of myself and lots
last session while fighting a draconic deity, my wife looked so pleadingly, sweetly, and innocent as they said “hey dungeon master?” to which the dm, fondly exasperated, replied “yes, dungeon food?”

I might've added the BG3 Art Book to my dnd assets stash
It' 100% does not have things like the 5e players' handbook + 5e’s character sheet, several gm guides, critical role's explorer's guide to wildmount, baldur's gate and waterdeep city encounters, 101 potions and their effects, volo's guide to monsters, both of xanathar's guides, a bunch of other encounters, one shots, and class builds
In no way are there any pdf’s relating to any wizard who may or may not be residing on any coast
(Edit that I’ve moved the folder to the new link above! So if you catch a different version of this post that link won’t work anymore!)
These dice are inspired by Zagreus from the Hades game and are called "Prince of the Underworld". I am really looking forward to the next one and to all the characters I can base dice on :D
These still need sanding and inking.
