For some reason there's been so many videos about cannibalism popping up on my fyp and I couldn't help but think of your reader whenever I saw them. This one video talked about kuru disease/prions as a very real side effect of cannibalism
It'd be interesting to see the more medical leaning characters like Yosano (and mori, i think he was a surgeon?) be worried/cautious of said side effects (not to mention blood transmitted diseases like HIV)
You don't have to answer, I js wanted to know if there's a specific way the reader's abilities could stop and negate all the risks of consuming humans on a regular basis
Frankly, I think if he could keep it from being fatal, Mori would enjoy having informant being crippled by a disease like that. He was a doctor once, he's perfectly capable of taking care of them. And all helpless like that, he can dress them up as he likes. Even more easily than Elise!
There's a strong sense of satisfaction in his soul, having the little dear that's been so cautiously aggressive being unable to do anything but accept his care, or suffer and die a slow, agonizing death. Especially knowing he could keep them alive just to suffer longer until they give in to his tending. Of course, there are private doctors for when he's busy.
He even gets to offer visiting them as an incentive to the members that are so infatuated with their dear informant! What a lovely motivational tool.
Yosano takes the matter much more seriously. Their angry spark is part of the charm, after all. Wouldn't anybody in their right mind rather win over a feral cat, instead of letting it suffer until it lets you help it?
She does assume for a period that their ability keeps them immune. Even asks. The informant doesn't know, but they've never gotten anything like that before. So they probably are.
Should they experience any symptoms, Yosano is much more aggressive in her approach than she normally is. After all, she takes the health of everyone, especially her most important people, very seriously. Top priority, in fact.
Yes, she would abduct informant, even if just for a bit, to force them into a check up. Argos bribe included, damned traitor. Now, the results would shock her in this case, assuming she didn't know they were consuming flesh. Hair, nails, blood, she knew all that. But why were they eating flesh?
In that matter, Mori wouldn't even care. They eat pieces for information, and some are easier to get than others. Why waste time aiming for hair when you could cut fingers off much more efficiently?
As for if they are immune, I think for the physical diseases they are. I don't think the parts even make it to their stomach before the ability dissolves and absorbs them. Essentially, the pieces are swallowed and absorbed as they slide down the esophagus.
Now, they have been heavily influenced by the psychological aspect of eating people. Just like the informant has episodes of identity crisis, they also have times where instead of seeing people in public, they see skin suits full of meat. Snacks that offer everything if they just slip behind them, place their hand over their mouth and dig in a knife just a little bit-
Oh! Right. Shopping trip. Actual meat, not people made of it.
