task force 141 now working with their smart ass american informant in person
after being taken for ransom, laswell decided it was now dangerous for you to return back to the states so you were now staying at the task force’s base instead. yippee.
it did make work a little easier, you didn’t have to stay up during odd hours of the night but the one thing you did miss was coffee. after a few days visiting the break room you realized that these british people preferred tea over espresso and that was not going to fly with you. you had begged laswell to order your own personal coffee bean stash but it might take a few days before it gets through customs. great.
“ugh, im fucking exhausted”
“drink some tea, you’ll feel better”
a heavy sigh came from your nose.
“price, if you say that one more time, i am taking all of these tea bags and reenacting what happened at the boston harbor.”
I already talk about Harvey!Reader, so now I'll talk about others Reader ideas I have (and lyrics at the end ofc) :
A Reader that wanted approval from the batfam, that wanted their attention, but realize that they won't have it. Whatever they do, they won't be seen. And they decide to take it at their avantage.
They decide to become informants.
They will stay at a dark corner of the batcave, listening the Batfam during their missions, noting any information that might prove useful.
They don't notice the Reader, they never did.
They are like ghosts, listening everything everywhere, without being notice.
Informant!Reader here is calm, with a quiet rage that want to come out. They give informations to everyone, heroes like villains like vigilantes like civilians. Of course, there is a price. Sometimes it's money, sometimes dirty work (like killing someone).
They are dangerous because nobody knows how they have all these informations.
And the batfam will realize who they are only because one day Alfred decide to give a coffee to Reader in the Batcave. This or because the Reader is at the verge of death.
I can imagine Alfred just giving coffee or hot chocolate to the Reader in the batcave and nobody noticing it until like, 3 years after Reader decided to become an informator.
2. A Reader that hate to the max.
Listen to me, a Reader who hate Bruce and the Batfam so much because of their negligence that they become everything they hate.
They learn magic, become a villain, heck they'll even find a way to become a meta just because Batman hate them apparently.
The Reader know Bruce don't hate metas, even have a son that is a meta (Duke), but they still will find a way to become one just to see his face when he realized the monster he have created.
Watch this Reader becoming friend with the Joker, even if the Reader themselves hates him, they will still be friends just to anger the batfam.
And when they are in their civillian identity, the Reader decide to makes rumors about the batfam. 90% of the rumors about the Wayne were created by Hater!Reader.
3. A Reader who can see ghosts
Imagine a Reader that can see ghosts, and during all their childhood, they had ghosts to help them.
Yes, the Wayne family neglected them, but at least they had the ghosts. And the ghosts decide to protect them and to teach everything to the Reader. Yes, everything, even how to kill and hide a body.
The ghosts are this Reader family, and they will fight everyone who try to say otherwise.
The ghosts are all different, like I can see a military one teaching the Reader how to use guns, a chief one teaching them how to cook, a doctor and a nurse how to treat a wound, a child one playing with them and a dog ghost.... and more !
See Ghost!Reader having a big family of ghosts who can and will avenge them.
I can imagine the ghosts stealing/destroying some of the batfam stuffs everytime they neglect the Reader. Like for exemple Dick promised to play with them, but at the end he didn't because he forgot ? Watch all his technology stuff go BOOM.
4. A Reader who found comfort in the death
A Reader who died (maybe suicide, or killed by the Joker) and is somehow adopted by The Death.
I love the idea of The Death being a good and kind entity, who see a child who suffer too much, who never had a great life, and deciding to just adopt them.
They see these souls and decide to make them their crows, their little soul reapers.
And Soul Reaper!Reader make no exception.
They have to take the souls of dead people and guide them to their afterlife, their eternity.
But one day, someone decide to revive them. And nobody is happy about it.
The Reader want to die a second time to continue their little job as a soul reaper, but the batfam won't let them die a second time.
The Death is at that 🤏 to kill them, even if they don't have the right to kill mortals.
5. JJ!Reader
I'm pretty sure that we all know JJ!Tim, well, in this universe, it's JJ!Reader.
Just imagine the angst when Bruce realize that one of his kids became a mini Joker. Imagine the shame he would feel because that could have been avoided, because he didn't realized that one of his kids was missing until the moment where JJ!Reader reveal themselves.
Imagine Damian reaction, because his blood sibling is now his enemy.
6. A Chaotic!Reader
A Reader who decide to become chaotic. "If they don't see me when I'm calm, then they won't see me if I decide to cause chaos." Type mentality.
They won't use the doors, instead they will use the vents and windows to enter a room. They will commit crimes like arsons. They will ruin every Wayne gala.
I can see this Reader dying and coming back to life with the "Being resurected isn't my problem, it's YOUR problem" mentality. Their death and the fact that no one cared/realized that they were dead is probably their trigger, the thing that change that little calm person to this chaotic gremlin.
7. Fighter!Reader
A Reader that decide to participate in underground fights for money and attention. It's their way to express all their anger, they hate and love attention at the same time.
At first, they started because they wanted to show their family that they weren't weak, they wanted to be a Robin like their older brothers Dick and Jason, they wanted to be a vigilante like their dad; but the family never looked at them.
They saw Tim becoming Robin, they saw how he was loved by their siblings and father. They were envious.
So they decided to fight in underground fight, a way to express all their anger and winning money at the same time.
I can see this Reader refusing to use Bruce money (if he even give them money) because they don't want to depend on him and his money. They don't want anything to do with the Wayne anymore. So they win their own money and will move out of the mansion once they have found an apartment to moved in.
Now the lyrics :
^ JJ!Reader to Damian because even if they share the same blood, they are too different to be real siblings. One is born loved but ended up in violence, one is born in violence and ended up loved. Idk how to phrase my idea of JJ!Reader and Damian help-
^ Informant!Reader that needs to know everything about everyone. The more they know, the more they search for informations, the less they have time and space to think about their family.
^ Chaotic!Reader that know that if they weren't dead, or if the batfam cared enough to see that they were dead, that things would have been different. That they won't be like this now.
^ Hater!Reader to Bruce when the Batfam discover who was under the mask.
^ The batfam after Soul Reaper!Reader is back from the death, because even if they are alive now, they aren't the same as before. They aren't the child/sibling they knew.
^ See Ghost!Reader that see the ghosts as their family, who is scared when none of them are around (especially when they are a kid); or when they die, they aren't scared to die because dying just mean being a ghost like the rest of their found family.
^ Fighter!Reader and this voice in their head telling them that they are weak, not worth attention, not strong enough to be Robin, that they are just a rat, a parasite.
Do the agencies fight each other passive-aggresively for reader? Like the ADA sends a gift basket and The PM tries to one up it?
From what I gather, the PM has a distinct, unfair advantage. In that they have a lot more expendable income. Kunikida stresses far too much about the agency's budget for them to compete with the literal mafia for gifts...
So they'll have to compete in a way that their opponent can't. That's right!
The found family dynamic.
Now granted they either have to trick, annoy, or guilt you into it. The latter two being standing outside your apartment or having Kyouka and Atsushi give you sad eyes until you give in.
For the PM, it's laughable. Why would such a coveted individual waste their time with-
What the fuck. Why are you going to agency parties. Why are you eating tofu with the two that guilt tripped you?? WHY ARE YOU GOING TO THE ADA BUILDING ITSELF???
Tbh it's the free doctor's appointment. Yosano is weird about you, but it's hard to find a primary care doctor when you don't legally exist in the country you live in...also Argos likes most of them.
The PM is a lot more openly bribe-y. Especially since they're self aware to know inviting you to anything feels more like a threat...
Expensive groceries, alcohol, clothing, and electronic items just kind of *show up* in your apartment sometimes. You definitely didn't install that security system, but you can guess who has access to the cameras-
You're calling them right tf now, the one in your bedroom has to go.
How did they get a tv that size through the door? Up the stairs you get, gravity dude. But through the door??? Ugh, they'd probably control all of Yokohama by now if they stopped measuring dicks over who you liked more.
"Hey, I thought of something. If I consumed enough of you to transform into you, and we shot each other or something...what happens after that?"
"Mm?"
"I guess it depends on whether my own ability immediately cancels out after my death. Which I obviously wouldn't know. If it lingers, then your ability would activate on two separate corpses. One of which is already you. So I guess I'm curious on if your original corpse would stay dead and mine become you, if we'd both take over the other's physical body, or if there would just be two of y-"
You frown. "Ugh, nevermind on that possibility. I think I'd prefer to just be dead."
You pretend not to notice as he steps closer and glances across the room to watch the other male stiffen in irritation. "I suppose the only way to know for sure would be to test it, no? I do appreciate your willingness to give me your very life to satisfy your curiosity."
How’d you think Poe and reader would interact or meet ? I’m sorry I’m just a Poe fanatic. Btw this series is great :)
Ahahahahaha that poor man.
After rejecting their offer, the Guild just wanted reader out of the way for a little bit. If it freaks out the others, bonus! Lucy didn't work out, so Poe can just hide them in one of his novels for a little bit-
What the fuck, that took them like 10 minutes. Surely they- they can't be that smart!
"I just started stabbing people. Then I was the murderer. Mystery solved."
Incredible usage of free will.
Poe is terrified. Hiding behind Karl because what sort of sociopath would just pick that option. That wasn't even an option! HOW DID THEY DO THAT.
Is it wrong to say that decisiveness is sort of attractive
NO HIS LIFE IS IN DANGER HE NEEDS TO FLEE.
He definitely rants about this to Ranpo once they become friends. The absurdity of the situation, not that he sometimes has weird nightmares about that cold stare they gave him when they came out of the book. And that he writes about it for at least an hour after waking up from said dream.
Because it's genuinely terrifying, what he thought would happen in that moment. But there was such a weight behind it, like drawing in the entirety of a normally scattered focus. An angel casting each of it's eyes on you all at once.
And then dismissing you. Was it mercy, or a lack of interest? Deciding he wasn't worth the trouble?
Hi!, I would love to hear about your thoughts on Fukuzawa and Mori in your bsd works! I feel like since they are the leaders of both organizations they would fight and do their best to lure informant!reader into their organization. Bonus for the guild leader joining in on the fun lol :)
I'm mostly interested in how they behave towards reader and try to get them to join the ada/pm. but yeah, love your au :)
A lot of this may be inaccurate or OOC based on my knowledge of the series. I know they have a history, but no details. I'm trying to keep my spoilers to the minimum, so please respect that everyone :)
Frankly, the most interesting thing about you is how entirely uninteresting you are. Just another orphaned gutter rat who's life was devastated by his predecessor. Eliminating you would be child's play. Forcing you to pick between being eliminated or being bound to the Port Mafia would be even easier.
And yet, just about every key player in the city of Yokohama is wrapped around your finger. That alone makes your death a poor outcome.
Mori knows you're lying about your past. There are no records of family, or friends. No legitimate jobs, or proof of schooling. No paperwork that shows you came from somewhere else. As far as the city knows, you just appeared one day.
Of course everybody knows where your apartment is. But Mori knows something the others don't. You're a liar.
He recognizes the way you tense slightly when his protégé gets close to the dog. The way it seems wary of him the same way Elise is.
You don't have a dog with an ability. The dog comes from an ability. Not yours, based on what he's seen.
He has to consider the merit of keeping you around as is, roping you into the Port Mafia further, or getting you away from his underlings. His own feelings do not come into play because they do not exist. Just as everyone else is, you are a resource to be spent. One he enjoys, but nobody is irreplaceable.
And yet, Elise simply adores you. Immediately perking up if you're in the vicinity, insisting you stop by the goddamned Port Mafia headquarters so she can show you all the best things Rintarou got her. Oh, and you'll help her put on her favorite outfits to show you, right? She'd rather you help her change than him.
Mori encourages this, of course. You're always so much kinder to children, so won't you take the time to assist his darling Elise? Just because she isn't human doesn't mean she doesn't have feelings, you know :(
And while you're there, the two of you can discuss your future business with the Port Mafia. You know, the ADA has had a few instances where they struggle financially quite a bit...his organization has never had that problem. Your employment with him is much more stable.
Fukuzawa is terrifying in a different sense, in that he's so earnest during the few times you've spoken. Not a single smile or joke while he sincerely tells you that the members of his organization are always happier with you around.
How he's concerned for your safety, given how dangerous the life of an informant can be. Especially one involved in the underworld of Yokohama. Potential enemies of your buisness partners aside, he personally knows what Mori is like, and what he's willing to do. The agency has no qualms going to war with the Port Mafia, if necessary. Should you ever find yourself in danger, he hopes you would turn to them first.
And if you ever wish to leave your current position, he would gladly let you stay with the agency.
Fukuzawa isn't manipulative like Mori is. At least not in the borderline blackmail, slimy sense. All his points hit on emotional beats. Your safety. Argos' safety. A sense of satisfaction in helping people, which he knows that despite what you say, you do experience. Even putting doubt in your mind that despite the affection numerous members of the Mafia have for you, you aren't immune to being disposed of. That's why you have your rules, right? You know if you became a liability, you would be eliminated.
If he gets too far into his own obsession, platonic or romantic, he may even try to offer reader use their ability on him. You're a member of this almost family he's built, even if not officially. You should know he trusts you completely. And this way, you know every resource the agency has, firsthand. In case you're ever in danger and need safety.
Will there be any Kenji in your yandere bsd works? 🥹 He's my silly little pookie
Platonic since he's a minor, but yes! He is included. And since he is a teenager, reader is nicer to him than most. Especially since his ability, and thus his chores, require him to be hungry.
Reader: you're starving Kenji you bastards
Kenji: Um, actually, I'm pretty okay. I'm going to get lunch right after I finish this thin-
Reader: he's literally just a little guy what the hell is wrong with you fucks
Frfr why are so many CHILDREN TIED UP IN THIS CITY'S CONSTANT BULLSHIT???
Usually Kenji doesn't go to see reader much. The others are clamoring for it much more frequently than he is. He's real happy to see you whenever he does, though! Probably sees you as a friend or older sibling figure.
So because of that, you should totally just join the ADA! Isn't being a detective basically the same thing as being an informant? You just...solve cases and stuff! And with your ability, you'd probably be almost as good as Ranpo!
Don't worry about upsetting the mafia! He's more than used to throwing them out after a scuffle. Even if the bigwigs show up, the others are there to help! C'mon, everyone would be so happy!!!
...or do you not like him that much after all? You'd rather keep helping the people that hurt him and his coworkers so often? Is it because they're already threatening you?
He can take care of that, too. You try so hard to look out for him even if he doesn't need it. So even if you say you don't need his help, he'll look after you this time.
