Summary: he really kept you waiting, broh
wc: 1.9k
It had been a little over a month now. You started to lose hope that Rick would ever come for you. He hadn’t even tried, apparently. Morty told you that he would know if someone was trying to portal here— something about an alarm.
Each day that went by felt like another thorn digging into your heart. Was this really happening again? How many times would a Rick screw you over before you learned? You let out a long sigh, lying back on the fold out chair by the pool— book in hand. Tower Man. Morty told you it was some other planets version of Earth’s Die Hard. Reading helped kill some time while the kid was off doing whatever it was that kept this Avenger’s/Justice League mansion afloat.
“Hey.” Morty greets you casually as he lands on his feet poolside, some weird crystal in hand.
“Hey.” You dog ear the page of your book and set it in your lap. You reach your arms up to stretch, joints popping as you do. “How’d it go?” You ask, sitting up and swinging your legs over the side of the chair. “Didn’t run into too much trouble did you?”
This version of Morty was a boy of fewer words. He preferred to speaking with purpose— rather than just talking for the sake of talking. Most likely caused by the verbal abuse of his original grandfather. He’d grown up so much faster than he should’ve and your heart aches for him, but you can’t pity him. He won’t take it. In fact, he’d be offended if you did. He sees himself as a man now, and expects you to treat him like one. Though, he won’t admit it, he does like it when you dote on him, showing that you care.
“Nothing I couldn’t handle.” His reply isn’t cocky, just matter of fact. He was an extremely capable young man. Everything he’s accomplished on his own was proof of that.
You had asked him a few times to take you back himself, but he just deadpanned at you and told you that Rick wasn’t worth a shit if he didn’t at least try to come get you himself. Which….valid.
When he slots the crystal into the machine, replacing the other one, the shield resumes its tropical sunset setting. The entire vibe reminded you of an old man in retirement. He made his way over to you and sat in the lounge chair next to you. Just as he was settling in, the entire asteroid shook. The shield wavered, letting in a hug alien creature. You snatched your holster from the ground next to you and the two of you shot at the beast as you ran.
“What was that?” You ask after the alien fell. Morty furrows his brow and reaches to the machine, pressing a button that brings up the curve integrity. A red warning flashed over the display saying that it’s been compromised.
“Motherfucker.” He pulls out his portal gun and rises to his feet. “Come on.” You give a stiff nod and pull your holster over your shoulders properly, buckling yourself in. By the time you’re ready, the golden glow of his portal is swirling in front of you. You didn’t know what you were expecting when, but it definitely wasn’t this.
“-orty’s getting the net.” You stepped through after Morty— midway through the sentence of the person on the other side. And who was that person? None other than Rick Sanchez himself. Who had most definitely portaled to wherever it is you were. What the hell? The excitement of seeing him again was severely overshadowed by your anger. So, you just stood there glaring at him with your arms crossed until he noticed you. And he looked like a guilty man if you had ever seen one, but it was quickly replaced by apathy, ignoring you as he and ‘Evil’ Morty go on about ‘fracking the curve’ and ‘probability stasis’. You follow them to the monitor— eyeing down Rick the entire time.
“I- I can’t find the net! Should we just shoot him?” Morty looks to his grandpa, to ‘evil’ Morty, then his eyes dart to you. “Y/n?!” His genuine excitement to see you is refreshing. You let your expression soften for him, giving him a smile.
“Hi, Morty.”
“You’re okay!”
“Of course she’s okay.” ‘Evil’ Morty rolls his eyes like it was obvious he wouldn’t bring you any harm. “I told you I wouldn’t hurt her.” Morty only responds with a pointed look, making his dislike and mistrust clear. Letting the boys argue, you take a moment to take in your surrounding. You’re not sure how to feel about what you see— Rick’s, more specifically, Rick Primes. They were in glass cylinders lining the room. One of them in one directly across from the control panel. His arms were crossed, relaxed with a lazy smirk on his face— looking directly at you.
“What exactly are you trying to do here?” You cut off whatever the guys were talking about, still looking at the Rick Prime across the room.
“Would-wouldn’t you like to know.” Was Rick’s sarcastic reply next to you. Your head whips around to face him.
“What’s your problem?” He’s the one that didn’t bother to come and rescue you, not that you really needed it, but still! He didn’t know that. You were literally kidnapped by ‘Evil Morty’!
“You wanna know what my- what my problem is, princess?” He practically spat the word at you like it was a curse rather than a form of endearment. He gets in your face, poking your chest with a boney finger. “You’re a liar.” He says lowly— your eyes narrow.
“What are you talking about.” He’s scoffs, retracting his hand from you to gesture at the Prime behind you.
“You were working with him!” Your eyes widen for a fraction of a second, then go back to their angered state. “What? Nothin- you don’t have anything to say for yourself?” He asks, arms crossed over his chest and a condescending look on his face as he looks down his nose at you. Rick Prime starts laughing from behind you. Without breaking eye contact, you reached over to the control panel— pressing the button that zapped the Rick in the tube only for another one to take his place.
“Aw, come on, baby. I’m hurt.” Prime snarks, you ignore him.
“I’m not a liar.” You match Rick’s tone. “And I wasn’t working with him.” Rick rolls his eyes and puts his hands in the pockets of the lab coat. “He dropped me in your living room for you to kill me because he couldn’t do it himself. I told you that Rick cheated on me and we had a fight— I just didn’t tell you which Rick.”
“She has a point, Rick.” If looks could kill, the icy glare he shot his Morty would’ve frozen him on the spot, but his grandson stood his ground. “She told us wheat dimension she was from, she didn’t say it was that Rick that she was dating.” Morty steps up to your side. “She was nothing but kind to us while she was with us.”
“You’re naive if you believe a word she says, Morty.”
“He didn’t even know she was alive until you told him!” Morty argues back, raising his voice. “He literally thought you killed her when he portaled her to us!” Now that, you didn’t know.
“You spoke to him?” Arms dropping to your side, you look at the Rick in front of you with wide eyes. “Is that why you didn’t come looking for me? Because of something he said?” Honestly, you were hurt. He chose to believe a known master manipulator over you. Not even bothering to hear you out first, he just took Rick Prime’s words at face value, whatever it is that they were. After seeing your reaction, he had enough sense for that guilty look returned to his face.
“What an asshole.” Prime calls out. “You do really have the worst luck with, Ricks. Why don’t you just come back to me? I’ll take you back if you beg hard enough.” You could practically see the smug look on the bastard’s face without even looking at him. “I’ll even let you suck my-” This time it was ‘Evil’ Morty that pressed the button. Effectively cutting him off.
“Can we just find this guy, so I can get back? I don’t care about whatever HBO drama you two have going on.” He starts making adjustments to the machine until Rick pushes him out of the way.
“I’l- get out of the way, I’ll do it. Don’t touch my shit.” And just like that, Rick avoids the conversation.
“Rick!” He just ignores you and keeps doing whatever it is he’s doing. The nerve.
“Rick, you can’t just- are- are you changing something?”
“He’s filtering for probability stasis.”
“Ugh, are you still here? And are you just teeing him up now?”
“Um, hello?” You pop your hip to lean on the machine and he acts like you’re not even there. “Are you seriously going to pretend that I’m not here?” He hesitates for a second then lets out a sigh.
“Look…” he groans and runs a hand down his face. “I- I believe you okay? And I was an ass for not coming to find you. I just thought-“
“If you didn’t find me I couldn’t disappoint you if I was really working with Prime?” He makes a face, surprised. “What? I’ve spent a lot of time with Ricks. I would hope I know how to read you by now. Didn’t make it hurt any less though.”
“Yeah…I just- I’m…” he trails off and you run a hand down his arm then take hold of his hand.
“I know.” He finally looks you in the eye. “You can make it up to me after we kick Prime’s ass.” He smirks then tugs at your hand, effectively pulling you into his chest— lips finding yours quickly.
“I love the- like the sound of that.” ‘Evil’ Morty rolls his eyes disapprovingly, but doesn’t comment. His hand goes to rest on your waist as he makes the final adjustments. When he finishes one last Rick Prime shoots into the tube.
“Is- is that him?” Morty asks and Rick doesn’t seem so sure. You could feel it too…something wasn’t right.
“A trap?” You ask, leaning forward— palms pressed flat on the counter in front of you. While the boys bicker about whether it’s a trap or not behind you, you’re looking straight ahead at the unamused Rick Prime. When his eyes meet yours though, he smirks. He clears his throat to get their attention.
“Can I offer my two cents?”
“No!” Before anyone could stop him, Morty was pressing the kill button and Rick Prime transformed into some kind of venom black goo, shattering the glass container— pouring out to swallow any and everything around it, including all of you. The portals themselves weren’t even safe. As blackness surrounded you, you could hear Rick yelling out your name, but you couldn’t tell from where. There was no sense of direction in the goo.
Before you knew it, you were plopped down, unceremoniously, onto the ground of a very familiar space station. Towering above you…Rick Prime.
“Hey baby, welcome back.”

Summary: Waking up confused in an unfamiliar/familiar place, you’ve got some more things to think about than just trying to get home, but so does Rick. (lil bit of Rick’s pov in this one) wc: 1.6k
You woke up with a start. You gasp and shoot up to take in your surroundings. A perfectly normal bedroom. An oddly familiar one. Yours. From before C-137…before Prime. This was your bedroom, from your original dimension. Slowly, you slide off the bed and take stock of your gear, which was basically nothing but the clothes on your back. Whoever brought you here left you unarmed, but also unrestrained. Either the trusted you not to run, or they knew you couldn’t escape.
Making your way to the window, you draw open the curtains and discover that it was definitely the latter. The bedroom might mimic the one from your original earth, but you were most definitely in space still. The multi-colored sky and strange creatures and rocks floating around could tell you that much. The door clicks open behind you and when you turn, you see Morty standing there with an unreadable look on his face.
“You’re awake. That’s good.” He stares at you for another moment then turns to head back down the hallway. “Breakfast is ready.” He calls over his shoulder, still moving to where you assume the kitchen is. Definitely not your Morty. You sigh and decide to follow him, what else were you going to do? “Juice is in the fridge.” He tells you from his spot at the table as you enter the kitchen. “There’s a coffee machine over there with the pods you like.” There’s no way.
“Morty?” He sets down his glass, looking down at the table. “From my original dimension?” You take a few steps towards the table until you’re pulling out the chair next to him and sitting down so you can try to meet his eyes. “That’s how you knew why my room looked like…and what coffee I drink…” his silence was answer enough. “Oh my god.” You were up on your feet again, yanking him into your chest in a bone crushing hug. You had so many questions. You can’t imagine what he’s gone through since you disappeared. His Rick was more of an asshole than any of them.
“Can’t…breathe!”
“Oh!” You pull back and place your hands on his shoulders as he takes in air. “Sorry, bud.” You laugh and smooth back his hair for him.
“s’fine…just, sit down.” He mumbles through his embarrassment of being smothered and composes himself again.
“Right.” You sit back in your chair with your hands folded in your lap. You took a moment to look at him, really look, and he looked so much older than fourteen. Not physically, but the way he sat, his eyes, the way he talked. Now you had even more questions than you did five seconds ago, but first things first. “Morty, what happened to the Rick and Morty I went to the Citadel with?” His hands that were resting on the table curled into fists.
“Don’t know. I left them there after I got what I came for.” Finally, his eyes meet yours. “Why do you care what happens to them?”
“They took me in when they didn’t have to.”
“You’ve only been there for a couple of months.” You lean back in your chair.
“How would you know that? I haven’t seen you in almost a year.”
“I scanned his memories. You didn’t show up until two months ago.” He leans back in his own chair and eyes you. “I tried to track you down. Went where Rick portaled you, but no one had seen you in weeks. They said a man that looked like Rick picked you up, but it wasn’t C-137.”
“I…”
“You told him that a version of Rick cheated on you, but were weren’t with our Rick. The two of you couldn’t stand each other, so that just leaves on explanation…” he’s matter of fact when he says this. He wasn’t asking a question, he was stating something he already decided was true and seeing if you’d lie about it.
“I don’t know what to tell you, Morty.”
“You fucked my grandpa.”
“Morty!”
“I thought you had better taste.” He picks up his fork to absently pick at his breakfast.
“You…don’t sound mad.”
“I’m not mad.” He pauses, looking from his pancakes then to you. A smirk crawling on his face.
“Don’t you say it.”
“I’m just disappointed.”
“Oh, I bet you’ve been dying to use that line on me haven’t you?” You can’t help but laugh, even he laughs softly. You used to tell him that whenever you would show up to his tutoring sessions and he would tell you he had gotten a bad grade, especially when you both knew he could’ve done better. Once the laughter dies down, he looks more somber.
“Seriously though, why him? He’s an ass in every universe.” You let out a sigh. Drawing patterns on the table with your finger.
“I honestly can’t tell you, Morty.”
“Stockholm syndrome.” You let out a breath of air that was almost a laugh.
“No. It’s not that.” You cross your arms over your chest and look out one of the windows. “Love is just a complicated thing.” Morty scoffs and takes a bite of his pancake. Rick always threw in everyone’s face that love was nothing but a chemical to get a species to mate. You just thought he was in denial and him being a pessimist. You had hoped Morty, as bright as he is, would have a better outlook on life than his grandfather. “I can’t stay here, you know that right?” He scrapes at his plate and nods.
“You should know what kind of man C-137 is before you go back to him.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’ll show you.”
⋆.☪︎
Thank god for Space Beth. Was a thought playing on repeat in Rick’s head on the flight back home in her ship. He doesn’t know why he expected you to come trailing behind Earth Beth when she came out to give them the most delicious looking sandwich’s he’s ever seen.
“Hold on buddy, our systems could go into shock from solid food.” After taking care of Morty and eating his own sandwich, he thinks about you. Were you alive? Evil Morty said he was taking you with him. That the two of you were from the same dimension and he wouldn’t hurt you. God, did that mean you had dated Evil Rick? He was an ass, even by Rick standards. He couldn’t see you putting up with that. Or, did he really even know you at all?
For now, he just had to take Evil Morty’s word for it. However much that was worth. Portal travel was broken anyway, he had no way of finding you right now. Even if he did, he’d have no way of getting there. He was only half-listening to his daughter when he responded.
“Good point, I need to reboot the portal index immediately.” When he does that he can find you and get rid of this feeling in his gut that definitely isn’t indigestion. “Basically just a hard reset on the fluid.” It should’ve been simple after that, except he reset portal travelers, not portal travel. Damnit.
Having to go back to his old house and have the ghost of Dianne was not on his bingo card today. The only upside to all of this was that them being reset meant that that bastard had been too.
“Whoa-ho-ho you found me!” He barely finishes his sentence when Rick is shooting the monitor, shattering it. “I’d shoot the first monitor too. But, hey, I’m not here. Or am I? There’s the clone you found! Or maybe it’s me!” Just hearing this guys voices makes Rick see red. He grabs Morty and raises a shield to deflect the kill bots that Prime set on them. “Speaking of kill. I kill your wife. You kill my girlfriend. Shouldn’t we be even now?” What? Prime must have seen the confusion on his face because he laughs. “Oh, waaaiit. You didn’t kill her? I knew her pussy was magic, but I thought you’d jump at the opportunity to take her out to get to me. Guess not.” Rick try’s to tune him out as he destroys more of the bots with more force than necessary. “Oooo, or maybe she didn’t tell you! Smart girl. Never gave her enough credit.” Prime says that last part a little softer without meaning to, before going back to taunting and leading him right where he wants him. Before Rick can follow, he’s stopped by Morty, the fuckin’ suicide bomber, and has to head back to his ship to save the rest of his family.
⋆.☪︎
“You don’t think that he’s the Rick she was with right?” Summer asks from over the back of the couch while Rick walks into the living room, beer in hand.
“N-no way! She wouldn’t be with- she wouldn’t date him. She’s too nice.” Morty, always coming to your defense. But should he anymore? Now Rick felt like he knew even less about you. If what Prime said was true…he doesn’t want to think about it, downing half his beer in one go.
“Grandpa Rick?” He just hums in response. Still thinking. “Shouldn’t you, like, fix portal travel, so you can go find her and ask her yourself?”
“Y-yeah Rick! Who knows what Evil Morty is doing to her!”
“Sh-she’s fi- she can handle herself, Morty. I’ll fix it when I get- when I fix it!” He wasn’t sure if he even wanted to. If he did, that meant he’d have to face the fact that you had been lying to him this whole time and the fragile thing the two of you had would be broken.
Oh snap, Rick Prime be revealing stuff he probably shouldn’t’ve. What a jerkwad. Lmk if you wanna be added to the tag list!

Summary: you’re going on your second month in this new dimension and for the past 2 weeks, Rick’s been running around with two crows… wc: 1.5k
“Pleaseeeeee…”
“No.”
“C-come on, Rick. She wants to go.”
“No.” You were trying to convince Rick to take you with him and Morty to the Citadel of Ricks to get Morty de-aged. It’s been almost two months since you’ve dropped into their lives and you’ve fallen into place in the Smith family. You’ve even gone on adventures with Rick, just the two of you. The two of you hadn’t been intimate again, but there had been some pretty heated makeout sessions and heavy petting.
“Rick, I’ve never been!”
“No.”
“I want to see Cowboy Rick and Morty.”
“If-if you wanna see that I’ll just put on some assless chaps, you don’t need to go to the Citadel for it.” That’d be a sight to see for sure and it did give you an idea.
“Ew, Rick. Wh-why do they have to be assless? No one wants to see that.” You still couldn’t get over the fact that Morty looked like he was damn near forty years old. When he had come into the house looking like that, you had nearly shot him.
“Spe*eaaugg*ak for yourself, Morty. Grandpa has a great ass.”
“If you let me go, I’ll wear assless chaps for you.” His gaze shot to you, as did Morty’s, who was red as a tomato. Rick mulled it over for a second then grumbled.
“Fine.” He grit his teeth then pointed a finger at you. “Stay close. Don’t talk to anyone.”
“Okay, I’ll only talk to you and Morty.” He eyes you.
“Only Rick C-137 and Morty C-137.” He deadpans and you pout.
“Fine.” He rolls his eyes and plops down in his rolling chair. “Hey Morty, can you give me a second with your Grandpa before we take you?” He sighs and nods heading inside, mumbling something about needing a drink anyway. Once the door clicks shut, you turn to Rick with your arms crossed. “Are you done with your three-quarter life crisis?”
“The f- what is that supposed to mean?” You move to stand next to him and lean a hip on his workbench.
“Rick, you disappeared for two weeks running around with a couple of crows.”
“I-I’m allowed to have ho*auugg*bies.”
“Rick.” You give him a pointed look and he shuts up. “Your family was worried about you.” You say softly. “Morty was really upset. He missed you.” He spins around in his chair to start tinkering with something on the table, avoiding looking you in the eye. “I did too.” His hands pause. “It wasn’t the same without you here.” Your voice was quieter as you admit that. He lets out a long sigh, one that makes him sound tired rather than exasperated and his shoulders slump. You run a hand gently through his hair and he turns to you, finally looking up at you. Your hand drifts to the side of his face to cup his cheek, running your thumb back and forth on his cheekbone. “It’s okay to have attachments.”
You give him a soft smile then wrap your arms around his neck, stepping between his legs to pull him into a hug. His head rests on your chest with little resistance, if any, and wraps his own long arms around your waist. Eventually he pulls away just enough to look up at you, studies you then reaches his hand up to cup your cheek like you had done to him and pulls you down. When your lips are about to touch, he pauses once more, eyes flicking up to your eyes then back to your lips.
“I guess.” And then he’s kissing you, softly at first, gentle. His hand that was still on your waist drags slowly to your ass as he stands up, pulling you closer to deepen the kiss. His tongue licking your lips until you open your mouth to meet it with yours. The had on your cheek moves to grip the hair at the base of your skull and he groans.
“I’m still mad at you for leaving.” You mumble between kisses.
“I-I’ll make it- I can make it up to you, baby.” He smirks and pulls you flush against him.
“W-what the fuck, Rick?!” You hadn’t even heard his grandson come back into the garage. You really get tunnel vision when Rick is involved.
“What the hell, Morty?! Don’t you know- y-you should knock!”
“It’s the garage!” You laugh and pat Rick’s chest.
“Morty’s right and we should really get going. I’m sure your grandson is ready to get back to being a kid again.”
-
The Citadel was…interesting, fascinating? Weird? It was cool to see so many versions of your favorite grandfather and grandson duo, but knowing what you know about Rick, you were surprised so many of them could stand each other.
“Hey!” Your Rick grabs your wrist and pulls you into some Morty store that’s supposed to help Morty. “You can’t be spa*aaugh*cing out here.” When you glance behind you, you notice a shadow by a building, slinking back into the alley. A chill runs down your spine.
“Right, sorry.” You step a little closer to him and he wraps an arm around your shoulder and tucks you closer to him. The Morty’s eye you like you’re some kind of goddess. Who knows how long it’s been since they’ve seen a real woman. It doesn’t take long for Morty to be back to himself, stepping out of the chamber looking like a worm. The new pink skin made you a little uncomfortable, but at least the kid was back to normal. “Whoa.” Apparently the rest of his years have to go somewhere and that somewhere was another version of him, but in his twenties.
“Gross.” Rick scowls at you, but doesn’t let you go. You just laugh and poke his side. Things happened fast after that. There was a commotion in the street between a feral looking Morty and some cop Mortys, older Morty ran out in the middle of it and ended up getting shot and dying. When you made it out to the street, a black car was pulling up, some Ricks dressed like Men in Black and requesting that the three of you go with the to meet the…President Morty? How did that even happen on a space station full of Ricks?
“Come on Rick! It’s the president! We have to go.” Considering his track record with leaders of government, maybe it wasn’t such a good idea, but you were extremely curious what this Morty president was like. Rick eventually caved, after Morty guilted him, but saying that as soon as this Morty reveals he’s evil that you’re all out of there. That’s how you found yourselves in a massive dining room overlooking the Citadel.
“Wow…” you were standing at the floor to ceiling window, looking out of the city. It was beautiful from up here.
“Here, try this.”
“Wh-what? Why?”
“Make sure it’s not poisoned.”
“Oh my god, Rick.” You roll your eyes and walk back to the table, dragging the plate he pushed in front of Morty back to its spot in front of him to take a bite yourself before he could stop you.
“Hey!” You swallowed and you weren’t dead.
“There. Stop using Morty as your personal poison detector.” You flicked his forehead then walked around him to take the seat to his right. He grumbled a ‘fine’ and started eating, but not before telling Morty he was glad to have him back. How sweet. You were about to tease him for it when the door opened at the side of the room, revealing President Morty. His eyes met yours for a moment, and you swore you saw a bit of recognition in his eyes. But, the look was gone as soon as you saw it.
“Sorry I’m late, they keep me busy around here.” He takes a seat at the head of the table, sipping his orange juice out of a wine glass. Things get tense quickly. President Morty reveals that this Rick had a hand in creating the Citadel, an integral part in it. It turns out that this Morty had been teamed up with ‘Evil Rick’ and he would’ve gone to hunt C-137 down anyway if he hadn’t shown up today. He wanted to destroy the Central Finite Curve. You’ve never seen a Morty so determined. Except…maybe your original one. Sometimes he’d get this look in his eyes when he had his mind set on something. A familiar look was in this one’s eyes.
Before you can ask him, you’re all restrained and the floor falls out from under you. The drop is quick. You can hear Rick above you yelling something, but the hatch closes quickly, leaving nothing but silence. It was pitch black, so you couldn’t see anything around you, still strapped to the chair. You weren’t like Rick; you weren’t Inspector Gadget like he was. You didn’t have any cybernetics to help you. All you could do was sit and wait. You let out a defeated sigh. That’s when you heard the hissing of air coming into the room.
“Shit.” You struggle again the restraints, but to no avail. There’s no way Morty was going to kill you right? What was the point of dropping you down here alive in the first place? What about your Rick and Morty? Would they be okay? Your heart ached at the thought. You didn’t have any time to dwell on it. Whatever it is that they were pumping into the room was taking effect and within moments, you were out.
Part VII
I had a rough idea of what I wanted when I started this fic, but I literally have no idea where I’m going with this from chapter to chapter lol. I’m so glad y’all are enjoying it as much as I enjoy writing. Y’all are too sweet! ∗˃̶ ᵕ ˂̶∗
