My kids attended Boston Comic Con this weekend, and my daughter felt bad that I couldn’t go with them. (Way too much walking for my new knee.) 

So she found a comic artist doing commissions, and asked for a custom Fili drawing for me! See the lovely result above. The artist, Carl Meff of Rare Earth Comics said he doesn’t usually do Tolkien art but he had a blast doing it. Evidently my daughter mentioned that I am errrr…particularly fond of Fili, hence the pose and the fact that he’s shirtless under his coat!

She also picked up some great Cap and Winter Soldier posters, so it was a good haul for me!

Fashionable Fili: Armor

He spent hours finding the hottest suit under the mountain. LOOK at that gorgeous helmet! I wish he would have kept the armor on, you know, during the battle…

The only time I wanted him to wear more, not less.

I honestly prefer Fili’s to Kili’s. It looks better, fits him perfectly and looks flattering on his completion, while Kili is drowning a bit in his armor. And Fili’s looks modern too, I could easily turn it into a sick coat for myself. I just wish we could’ve seen more of Fili in this outfit, not just one confusing catwalk. I mean, I still don’t understand why the dwarves put if on, but didn’t wear it into the battle? Was there some explanation that was cut out? I bounty that EE will make it better… But maybe there is some WETA pictures of that outfit? Or it was displayed somewhere? Behind the scene pics of Dean in it? I just want to see it in details.
