Heyo guys!! Could I request something kind of odd? Maybe with the Nifl or Múspell sibs being the people that hold the order of heroes and need help of the summoner, and the Askr sibs/kingdom take on the antagonistic role? And one way or another the Summoner meets up with the Askr sibs, and along with kindness and understanding, changes their perspective on the war (possibly some Alfonse fluff as well👀)? Thank you both so much, have a lovely day/night!!💙
There are many ways which I can take this. I'll do what I can and if you would like to send in another ask I'll be more than glad to further this prompt.
"If sacrificing one's life leads to gaining another, then who am I to turn down such an offer?"
The concept was well known to those within the world of Heros. Its presence alone had been enough to drive multiple nations down a spiral of anguish and despair.
Nifl, the Kingdom of Ice found a way to avoid such a fate with their power over heart. They clung to any present hope as though it were life itself, praying for the fulfillment of a prophecy long forgotten by others.
What was this supposed prophecy? Well, it was none other than the tale of a man who would vanish the darkness. The one said to have the ability to rid the world of its carnage.
The Summoner would set them free, the Summoner would give them hope! These were an everyday part of the future Ice king's prayers. For without them, he was afraid that he too would fall to this world's madness.
"Big brother Hríd?" A voice called out. "Hríd? Are you there? Fjorm wanted me to tell you something and quick!" The youthful continued their search until they eventually found what they were searching for. "Aha! There you are!" Their giggles masked over the sound of their concern.
Having been drawn out of his morning prayer session, Hríd stood to face his younger sister with a smile. There was never not a moment in which he could deny her cheerful presence. Infact, sometimes he even thought it to be a gift! Praying for hours on end was bound to get boring eventually, and what better way to escape than being occupied with more pressing matters?
The taller man stretched and let out a loud yawn. "Ylger, What is it?" He asked with fatigue.
In turn, this prompted his sister to give him a somewhat look of fear. "T-there's been an attack on the outer walls." She nervously fiddled with her fingers and glanced to the side. After all, she was still but a child who was forced into maturing at such a young age. "It is rumored that an army of the dead has been conjured to fight alongside the Askr household. Which means..."
"Hel." Hríd could feel his frozen heart pounding in his chest. "Damn." The violet haired royal cursed and clenched his fists together. He swiftly turned around and pinched the bridge of his nose in a new found melancholy. "That fool had promised me his heart, and here he goes tossing it aside in the favor of vengeance."
A mist began to form at the base of the elder brother's mouth, leaving small flakes of snow in their wake. He lowered his hand and shook his head. "We could have found another way..."
Ylger did the best she could to bring comfort to her brother. She got on her tip toes and tapped on the back of Hríd's sholdure. He looked back to her, sadness laced in his usually unreadable expression and forced a smile. There was no need to place anymore strain on his sister's already strained mind.
"Where is she?" He asked.
"Fjorm?" The girl stepped back from her role model and pressed the tips of her fingers together awkwardly. "She went on to hold the front lines. Oh!" Ylger then jumped in realization. "She also wanted me to tell you that among those spotted, Prince Alfonse was one of them. Though according to big sister, he had this weird creepy look to him."
Hríd felt his chest tighten with her words. He straightened his posture and immidetly started for the nearest exit. With what he gathered so far, his suspicionss were only moments away from being realized.
"I need you to stay here." His words cut through her own. "Whatever you do, do not venture outdoors, understood?" He was about to go, leaving the once happy Ylger to fend for herself within the safety of the castle's cooridor.
Ylger had never seen her brother in such a determined state. Infact, the only other time he acted in a similar way was when they were about to say goodbye. Though, it seemed like she would not be receiving one on this day. She muttered a quick 'Yes' before the door closed and left her alone once again.
"I'll see you soon...big brother."
"You're finished!" A loud scream pierced through the air. It left who the Askr Prince was fighting at a disadvantage. Her side bled and her body suffered. Fjorm struggled to stand. She held the area in which Alfonse had struck, breathless.
May the Gods have mercy on her. She prayed. Even with the loss of blood impacting her vision, Fjorm was sure to remain steady. Her light blue iris's glowed in resolve. For all she knew she may end up dying. As long as her family would be safe, then doing so did little to phase her.
Fjorm emitted a chuckle, one which seemed to anger Alfonse. "You know..." Her voice was teetering on the edge of consciousness. "It is a shame." She huffed. "My brother. He really cared for y-"
"Silence!" Her attacker growled and pointed his sharpened blade to her throat. Though he would not show it, the pain in Alfonse's heart was still present. "I don't want to hear your lies." The blueberry's fury dissolved into that of sadness. "What I want, is for my sister to return!"
Due to his constant shift in emotion, it was clear that Alfonse was not in the right state of mind. His eyes reflected hysteria and his body, exhaustion. Sharena's death had weighed heavy on him. It haunted him, consumed him, leaving nothing behind except a hurting boy.
Fjorm saw this, and knowing what she must do allowed him to take out his strain on her. She grit her scarlet stained teeth together and sighed. "If taking the lives of what you once deemed your second family pleases you then by all means do it." The light blonde spread her arms out as a form of surrender. "I only ask that you spare my remaining siblings and give them the chance to live for themselves."
A single tear rolled down her cheek and down her bruised neck. This caused the other to falter in his movements. He blinked, almost in realization to what he was doing. "Fjorm. I...This is not...-" His words were cut off by a devious laughter.
"Boy, are you forgetting of our arrangement?" The mistress of death appeared to whisper in his ear. He shuddered, breath hastening at her words. "You are to dispose of our enemies, and in turn, I will grant you your family. Or...do you wish for me to simply absorb them?"
Their words acted as a poison to Alfonse's mind. He took them in as though they were of more value than his own life, which in a sense they were.
Frjorm saw this and her eyes widened. "Hel? Alfonse! You mustn't listen to her. She is a lier and a manipulative-!" She soon found herself with yet another wound. This time to her lower chest. Her gaze slowly lifted to meet the once again merciless prince. "Don't...trust her..." Were Fjorm's final words to him as her body fell foward completely.
Hel took immense satisfaction in his. She knew she had won. The witch wrapped her arms around Alfonse's neck and smiled. Her actions almost made her appear in a loving light. "You did well, my boy."
Alfonse stared down at his creation. He felt sick to his stomach. But, this sacrifice would get him one step closer to being by his own sister again right?"
