Respawning: A Full Rundown
There were some recent discussions about respawning in the loa community and as someone who's been in the shifting community for years, I figured I could shed some light on what it is, how to do it, common misconceptions, etc! This post should go over most of your questions but if there's anything else you're confused or worried about, do let me know!
Respawning, not to be confused with permashifting, is when someone shifts to another reality and severs their connection to their CR (current reality). This means that this person will not be able to shift their awareness back to that reality.
So, say someone is currently aware of Reality 1 but they want to respawn to Reality 2. Once they respawn, they won't be able to shift back to Reality 1. Making sense so far? Great!
After shifting got popular a few years ago, a lot of people had some fears around the whole thing. People especially were very nervous about permashifting and respawning and as such, they both got a pretty bad rep.
I want to make it very clear that you do not need to die/commit to respawn. This is an extremely limiting belief that quite frankly, is also dangerous when people believe it. There are so many other ways to respawn, you do not need to die. So, without further ado:
Respawning is very similar to shifting just with an added step! So there's no need to complicate it. You can respawn the same way that you shift! However, since respawning is the added act of severing your connection, here are some ways to go about that specifically:
1. Erasing your memories.
This should be fairly straightforward. You can either script or intend that once you shift to your desired reality, you'll simply forget about your CR. You can also forget that you shifted there in the first place if you want!
2. Visualizing a "thread"
You can do this whenever you want, some people will go into the void or a lucid dream first, but you don't have to. Simply visualize a string/thread that connects you (aka your consciousness) and your CR together. Then visualize cutting/burning/just generally destroying this thread! This can be done before and/or after shifting to your desired reality.
Simply script that you can never shift back to your CR!
Simply set the intention that you can never shift back!
Quite honestly, I don't want to talk about how to respawn while dying. It's not necessary and I don't recommend it. I understand not wanting your clone to go through the same thing, trust me, I do. But you have to understand that there is an infinite amount of realities and there are so many out there that are almost identical to your CR. You wouldn't be "sparing" your clone. You would just be putting unnecessary pain on yourself and the people around you. And if you don't erase your memories of your CR, then you would still remember every bad thing here. So just... don't.
Whew, that last paragraph was a bit heavy huh? Gross. Anyway, here are some common misunderstandings that I often see about respawning.
Permashifting and respawning are the same thing.
Nope! I understand the confusion, however, they are different. If you haven't already, now would be the time to click on that link at the beginning of the post!
Your body has to die for you to respawn.
This isn't a video game! You do not have to die. And if you keep telling people that, what exactly do you think will happen? People will still want to respawn and now they think they have to die? Bro please, have some common sense. Respawning does not equal death, at least not in terms of shifting.
Respawning is painful/traumatic.
No! Absolutely not. All of the "methods" I listed above are completely pain and stress-free. Don't worry so much.
Respawning is harder than shifting.
Nope! It's literally just shifting but with the added intent of never coming back. Why would that be harder?
People who respawn are suicidal.
People who respawn are selfish.
No. You guys need to understand that sometimes people are born into realities that are real shitty. It's not selfish to want a better life and it's not selfish to leave one reality forever.
There are some other misconceptions but I think these are the most important and frequent ones!
Why would someone respawn?
Good question! Like I said in that last point, sometimes people are currently aware of very shitty realities. Honestly, I don't think I need to list all the horrible things that people can go through here. People respawn for literally any reason but a lot of times, they're doing it because it's an option that will let them live safely and happily. Most people have an emotional connection to their CR and may find it hard to just permashift because they know they might be tempted to come back. And that's certainly not a bad thing, but depending on their life there, it can be like going back to that ex that cheated on you five times and stole your money. Not great.
At the end of the day, what someone does with their shifting journey is up to them. And constantly judging people for something that is not inherently dangerous, and was only spread as such because people were uneducated and fearful of it, is just not great all around. No one needs to explain to you why they want to respawn. It's a big decision and if someone made it they've definitely thought it through.
On that note, please remember that you don't need to respawn. Like, at all. I've seen some please ask if they could just respawn to get to their desired reality and like, yes you could. But you don't need to do all that. Literally just shift. Like I promise it's not that hard, a lot of people just overcomplicate it. Just shift. If you're only looking at respawning because you feel desperate for what you want, then please stop overcomplicating things and just manifest/shift.
One last time before I end this post, you do not need to die to respawn. I know I've said it multiple times now but it's important for people to understand this. Constantly saying this just because you heard it somewhere else and got scared is not great! Please remember how powerful you are. You do not need to do anything in order to shift, permashift, or respawn.
Alright! I think that's it? Again, if you have any further questions just let me know. Respawning is pretty simple and so is actually doing it. But definitely make sure you're in the right headspace while making this kind of decision and don't rush it.
