          WITH A SLIGHT POUT ON HER SMALL LIPS, evie shook her head in frankie’s direction “ you’re my…frankie, and you’re also biased. of course you have to say that.” she hadn’t been able to call frankie her mom, not just yet. as much as she was, she just didn’t want to call her it and for everything to be taken away. Evie pondered Frankie’s statement about going to school soon and needing to make friends here, she knew was right. she let out a sigh before speaking “ okay, fine. I’ll meet them, but if they’re WEIRD OR MEAN WE CAN LEAVE RIGHT?”.

Frankie couldn’t hold back the delicate laugh that bubbled from her lips.  “i am your Frankie.”  she agreed.  she found it cute, the way Evie sometimes stumbled on what to call her;  because she had told the young girl that progress would be made in her time.  “but, have i ever lied to you? i told you i’d always be open and honest... and here for you, didn’t i?”  she had kept things from her, but only thing that helped to protect her from her job.  “so, if you don’t like them, we can leave.”  she nodded once.

❛  so you’re going to fault me for doing my job?  ❜  for cross examining her by the book,  she thought she had all the facts when she brought her up there,  that they not all of them were kept by her partner.  ❛  they’ll forget by the time he’s on the stand tomorrow,  i can still win this case,  but you need to bring in your partner if we’re going to win it. ❜

placing a hand over frankie’s,  she waited a moment before continuing.   ❛  you did your part,  now this is my case to prosecute,  if it all goes south from this point on,  it’s on me. ❜   it was her job to make sure the witnesses she called to the stand were ready,  stable and credible,  all of which the woman in front of her was  —  at least for the most part,  from what the public could see at least.

Frankie shook her head quickly, in response.  “no.”  she then replied softly.  she really wasn’t blaming Amanda for any of this, she was blaming herself  --  she always blamed herself, her entire life;  for everything that went wrong around her.  “i don’t know, Doherty.”  she shrugged.  she was conflicted.  at least-- it was over for her now and maybe sending in Will wouldn’t be the worst thing.  sure, he let emotions get to him sometimes, but that could be a good thing in this particular case.

Frankie let her gaze anxiously follow to the other woman’s hand as it reached for her own, a rapid rise in her heartbeat.  “fine.”  she finally gave in, letting out a soft sigh.  “hopefully Agent Chase can do a better job than i did.”  a nervous laugh slipped from her lips as her free hand moved to rest on top of Amanda’s and she squeezed delicately.

if anyone knows that frankie doesn’t know or feel comfortable with the smallest acts of affection,  even towards friends it was susan and so she decides not to make a big deal out of it.  she doesn’t necessarily have the energy to try to get her to open up more than she already was,  she was lucky that she could see the concern in her eyes still,  even though she was safe.  if it was will,  she swore that she would have been gone by now and just gave him a phone call after,  which makes her wonder how long she’s staying.  

❛  of course. ❜   it brings a smile to her lips,  it distracts her from the horror show that today was and shakes her head at the thought that pops into her head.   ❛  he’s going to be outnumbered whether or not i’m here,  but no one knows how to get under his skin the way we both do. ❜  a hand reaches out for the hand that had been recoiled,  ❛  are you going to tell me if he cried or not?  ❜   she raises an expectant eyebrow,  it’s one of the only ways she knows how to keep frankie there and it’s how she’s going to until she makes her ask her to stay with her directly. 

Frankie nodded, agreeing with Susan’s statement;  but if something had actually happened to Susan-- if she hadn’t came home-- teasing him just wouldn’t be same.  because she had loved spending time with Susan over the last few months, especially how they grew so much closer when taunting Will about his feelings for Emma.  

her dark gaze quickly moved back down to focus on Susan’s hand, as she reached out for her and Frankie’s heartbeat starting to climb at the unexpected contact between them--  but she didn’t pull away, this time.  “oh, you mean mr. feelings?”  she replied as she looked back up at Susan, words coated in a soft, nervous chuckle.  “he cried... like a baby.”  a soft smirk decorated her features, as she spoke.  it was actually the first time she hadn’t teased Will about his feelings.  Frankie could finally empathise with him, because she was starting to care about Susan almost as much as Will did and it took everything inside her not to breakdown too, over Susan being missing.

a soft chuckle bubbled from Frankie’s lips, as she cuddled up to Jess;  her cold feet intertwining with her girlfriend’s as she teased the older woman.  “then...”  a beat.  Frankie slipped her hand  ( also cold to the touch ),  up Jess’ back and she pulled her even closer.  “maybe you should... warm me up.”  Frankie then leaned her head up and delicately pressed a lingering kiss against Jess’ lips.

okay, so... LOVE isn’t necessarily in Frankie’s vocabulary.  for real, that icon is Frankie’s reaction to people ‘falling in love’.  she thinks that people who fall in love are dumb af, because she believes that feelings get in the way of being able to do this kind of job.  that being said, Frankie canonically admitted that she would find it romantic if someone sent her the chopped off ear of an enemy, so if you’re looking for a way to her heart then...  !!    (  frankie is here for all the pretty ladies, also.  )

        “YES, FREE UNLIMITED BOOZE AND FREE FOOD.” erin chuckled faintly in response. not really noting the fact that they were, in fact going to be sharing a room and a bed together. they were adults, she could handle it right? another thought came to her mind before she pulled out a card from her pocket and a ring “Here you go Mrs Howard, your wedding ring and this is a card for you to go shopping to get some clothes fitting for the cruise. apparently our bosses think we don’t have the right clothes.” the honey blonde chuckled faintly with a shrug of her shoulders “ so apparently we get to go shopping and spend SOMEONE ELSE’S MONEY. IT’S GREAT.”

Frankie nodded, approvingly;  a soft laugh bubbling from her lips.  free booze and free food was nothing in comparison to them putting their lives on the line to bust this arms deal, but she loved her job, she found a thrill in bringing down the bad guy---   she also might just enjoy being  ( fake )  married to Erin for a few days, after all.  Frankie took the ring from her partner, inspecting it.  “not bad.”  she joked, before tucking the ring and the card into her jacket.  “i mean, they’re probably right.”  Frankie admitted.  “in my case, at least. i don’t think i own one item of clothing that would be appropriate for a fancy cruise.”  though she travelled a lot of work, it wasn’t often that she got to have any down time in any country or city that she visited;  unless she was deep undercover, but that was rare.  “so, maybe a little shopping trip wouldn’t be so  bad.”  she also wasn’t much of a shopper.

Frankie gave a single nod, momentarily lost in thought;  pondering the decisions they made along the way.  would she have done anything differently?  in hindsight, yes.  but, at the time it seemed to be going the way they anticipated---  right up until the end there.  “maybe we should... go over it once more before they start interrogating us.”    interrogating may be a bit dramatic, but that’s what it was going to feel like.

they were deep undercover;  Frankie  ( or Chloe, as she was known to those they were trying to infiltrate )  and Jane were sent under as a married couple from Boston, in order to take down a massive drug operation, that had lead to the murder of a local man.  

Frankie’s eyes scanned the crowded room for their target;  a twenty-something woman, tall, blonde  ---  but, she was nowhere to be seen.  in the meantime, the couple had to keep up appearances by acting like they were really newly-weds, and Frankie couldn’t help but feel like this was some kind of punishment.  she wasn’t into public displays of affection at the best of times.  but, she was a good agent;  the best at the C.I.A.  so, she did what she had to do.  

Frankie turned toward her ‘wife’ as a delicate smile tugged at her features;  and she leaned in close, lips closing in on Jane’s ear.  “i think this might be a dead end.”  she admitted, at a whisper.  so, what now?  did they call it night?  just leave the party and go back to their room for the night?  or did they dare to do some deeper investigating?

it doesn’t matter how good at lying she is when the cuts and bruises do the talking for her,  for the amount of pain she’s in.  she can pretend to be as badass in front of frankie as much as she wants to be,  but it’s not her and the woman in front of her knows it.  a sigh escapes as she feels the light touch of fingertips and leans into it,  knowing that she’s going to have to at the rate they’re going.  the only thing that distracts her is the look of concern in frankie’s eye,  it’s the first time she’s seen it in her eyes and she doesn’t want to do anything to ruin the moment,  including continue the stubborn act.   ❛  but you saved me,  you got me out of there and because of that i’ll be fine. ❜  but the smile she offers her now shows that it wasn’t now,  the cuts were deep and if susan didn’t want them to scar,  she knew she’d have to give in to going to the hospital.  

   ❛  i will,  i just wanted to keep my mind off of it until i really need to.  ❜   susan knows that point is approaching fast,  but she isn’t ready to talk about what happened,  isn’t ready to know the injuries that were going to be left behind (with all the emotional ones she knows she’s going to have to deal with).   ❛  i could have fought my way out of there if there weren’t so many of them,  but i knew i could count on you to get me out and you did,  i knew you had to care. ❜   her tone is teasing,  but the words are true,  she just wish she didn’t have to wait until something like this to find out that she was right.

Frankie watched as her fingers made their way toward Susan’s hand and it was almost as if she had lost all control.  she craved that touch, the simplicity and intimacy of just holding hands with someone;  fingers intertwining.  no, she couldn’t.  she wanted to, so desperately.  but, she couldn’t.  instead, she snapped herself back to the reality of the situation, pulling her hand away from Susan in an attempt to compose herself.  

“i never leave a man behind.”  she then lied.  before she was part of this team, Frankie was very much a lone wolf, and she had sacrificed several agents in order to bring down her mark  ( and it was that ruthlessness that gave her the highest kill or capture rate ).   but, things were different with Susan.  the sheer thought of leaving Susan behind sent another wave of fear and guilt shooting through her chest, which became evident in her expression as she looked up to find those beautiful dark eyes.  “besides, i need someone who can help me tease Will.”  she added, words coated in a delicate laugh.
