seduce and deceive;  how hard could it possibly be?  apparently, harder than it looked.  because Frankie had been undercover with Jessica for a couple of weeks and this whole thing had proved to be more difficult that she initial imagined.  but, she wasn’t going to let Will (or anyone) know that feelings where starting to get mixed up in everything.  so, on what was her third date with the other woman, Frankie didn’t wear a wire, she didn’t want anyone listening in;  it was to be just her and Jessica, and she would report back any information she thought relevant.  “oh, we should go to the froyo place for dessert.”  Frankie smiled as she pointed down the street, in the same direction which they were walking;  headed away from the restaurant where they had dined moments earlier.

jessica starts the day with a delivery of fresh pastries and a new outfit (with a note that insists it’ll look incredible on camera). she calls throughout the day to see how ainsley’s birthday is going and reminding her that she’s throwing a dinner party tonight so the guest of honor has to show up. come dinner time, should her children actually come, jess is far softer and more real than usual but still can’t outright say ‘i love you’, hoping her actions are Enough to make it clear

hi this is so cute Ainsley loves her mom so much like, you can’t even understand how much she lives her mom. She has so much admiration for Jessica like she’s so strong, she’s headstrong, she doesn’t let anyone run over her. She follows in her mother’s footsteps so she can be the woman her mother is.

both hands pass through his hair, pushing back the scattered strands in an effort to make tidy his appearance. eyes remained shut, and he let out a deep exhale to self-soothe. the incessant thump of his heartbeat never did quite relent since he came back home. when malcolm finally opened his eyes again, he stared down at his plate, reaching for the fork again as if to mimic normalcy. in reality, the food was scarcely touched. when his gaze finally landed back on his mother, he offered a feeble smile. " right. " he answered sheepishly. " i mean, who could blame you? secrets are what kept this family normal for about a decade or so. dr. whitly left an impression on us all. " the spite etched in the words were difficult to stifle.

venom clung to the air like a foul odor bound to the crevices in the wall. the silence remained still, malcolm's insult drumming in his own ear like one of his hallucinations. his gaze wavers off the fork, to the chair besides his mother, a malignant smile sprawled on the face of his father - another hallucination. dr. whitly would've loved my choice of words, he reminded himself. the shaking of his hand underneath the dinner table rung in his ear. " i'm sorry. " he added, after what felt like an eternity. " i just mean — when have secrets ever been good for this family? curiosity has repeatedly killed the proverbial cat that is the whitlys for over two decades now. "

“MOTHER  PLEASE.  NEITHER  IS  RELIEVABLE.“  but  that’s  him  just  being  hypocritical.  he  is  all  about  his  head.  it’s  rationality  that  had  kept  him  sane  despite  recently,  his  mind  being  nothing  but  treacherous  land.  head  or  heart,  she  asks,  and  malcolm  sighs,  shaking  his  head  as  he  puts  the  handkerchief  down  on  the  table.  “I  trust  evidence.  And  my  hunch.  I  think  that’s  right  in  the  middle.“  A  short  pause  as  he  looks  back  at  his  mom,  knowing  well  what  this  might  be  about.  “And  my  hunch  tells  me  that  I  can’t  solve  this  case  without  Dr.  Whitly.“
