despite this episode being a literal man hunt for mari the way that the girls genuinely love and care for and try to protect each other is making me insane. also the way that it completely reframes how the audience is supposed to see 1x01 and the violence within the girls… i am speechless.

gen luring tai away from shauna to give mari more time to escape. tai immediately abandoning the hunt to help van when she thought van was hurt and then choosing to not join back up with shauna to continue pursuing mari. lottie warning mari that “she has been here before” in regard to the pit being close by. shauna being the only one out there actively hunting mari while the other girls were just using it as a distraction for natalie to get away to call for help. the way the pilot framed this particular hunt as an animalistic, uncaring, thing that the girls have done many times when in actuality the girls were distraught and used it not as a ritualistic ceremony but as a decoy. misty’s smirk afterwards being recontextualized from her being happy and at peace in the violence to her being happy and at peace in the fact that natalie got away to call for rescue. 3x10 showing that the girls (or most of the girls) haven’t completely lost themselves to violence but rather finally banded together as a team to get away from the violence.
