✨ PATHOLOGIC FEST✨ — September 1-30.

Join the #pathologic art challenge! The steppe is blooming with twyre and swevery, and soon, soon the aurochs will flock back to the Town-on-Gorkhon, responding to the call of the Kin. And that means that the time of Pathologic Fest is coming again.

Join the creative marathon in the world of the game Pathologic!

(Every year it gets more and more confusing. Pathologic (Utopia)? Pathologic? Pathologic 2? 3? In general, Pathologic!)

Just a reminder of the rules: the suggested topics are divided into Main topics (there are 22 of them and they are marked in white) and Intermissions (4 weekend topics, marked with color). Intermissions are not mandatory; you can take a break during this time if it gets difficult for you. It’s also an option for those who aren’t sure they can devote a lot of time to the marathon but still want to participate and are willing to cover 4 topics. Moreover, the weekend topics are initially designed so that they can be woven into a single tapestry, connected by a certain story, if you suddenly have such a desire.

Creativity of any kind is welcome in the event — drawing, text, cosplay, crafts, and generally any way of self-expression. Within reason, of course. You can also combine different art forms.

We will be tracking all works tagged with #pathologic_fest. Even if you only find time for one work, it will definitely be included in the daily (and general) digest. You can also find works by authors from other social networks where the marathon will also take place under the tag #pathologic_fest. You can find the list of Pathologic Fest accounts at the bottom of the theme image.

There is no additional theme this year, except for the one inevitably thrown up by the announced Bachelor’s scenario. Time. Tempus fugit, one wants to say, remembering Dankovsky’s love for Latin. And although there is no release date at the moment, which makes the vague stipulation about “coming out in 2025” look doubtful, the game could already be felt in the demo version where time becomes a special, malleable substance in Daniil’s hands. And if you are drawn to this theme, we suggest you go in that direction with your imagination, tell your story.

Oh well, Pathologic fest is over!

First and foremost, our thanks go to all the participants—without you, the entire event is just writing on water, disappearing before anyone can read it. And we must say, there were far, far more of you than we could have ever imagined. Artists, writers, musicians, and creative people of all kinds—so many people participated in this adventure that it's hard to imagine.

It was especially wonderful to see how people found each other during the event. There were three collaborations during the marathon, two of which were music. This was especially gratifying, because it's unusual and fascinating to see fan creativity in this field.

And yet, overall, Pathologic fest is an amazing undertaking, a struggle against circumstances, time, and oneself. You all did a great job throwing yourself into this endeavor with such zeal. It takes courage. And whether you managed to complete the entire distance or just part of it, we applaud you all.

Just to be clear, we have no affiliation with Ice-Pick Lodge. Although they supported the idea by reposting it on their official VK page. A huge thank you to them. I suspect it's thanks to them that many new people learned about Pathologic fest this year!

We've finished collecting the submissions and are ready to publish the final digest by the end of October. Once again, we thank all Pathologic fest participants for contributing a little bit of themselves to the marathon. And special thanks to Evgenia Verner, the festival itself began with her. Thank you, and see you again!

I finally managed to finish every day of Pathologic Fest 2025, run by the amazing @fellowtragedian, and I had so much fun writing all these pieces set in the world of Pathologic Classic and Pathologic 2! Feel free to examine each day in whichever order you choose, and to let me know what you liked and if it fascinated you at all!

And the curtain falls.

Mark's cane taps against the boards as he walks towards the steps - no doubt to schmooze with the audience.

Kirill breathes for a moment, reclaiming his name and being, letting Artemy walk away, into the town. Mikhail winces, quietly repeating Latin phrases to himself as if to reassure himself he hadn't misspoken on stage. Raisa has never had trouble separating herself from her characters and trots off to get rid of her bald cap.

I feel ill-at-ease. I'm still not sure how I fit in to this production. Do I even count as a character? Or am I beyond all this? Who can say - our director, despite his loquacity, is truly tight-lipped on the matter.

Where do I go, when this is over? I could slip out into the Town, explore as I please... but I don't really belong there. Perhaps I could go back to where I was before... but then what happens to the me that is here?

Hey, Kirill. What do you think happens to Artemy?

"O-oh. You're asking me? I mean, isn't that the writer's decision?"

Just between us. [I mean, you're technically just an extension of me anyway...]

"Well... I suppose, I'd say he stays. I think he's connected to this place - that he loves it, even if it doesn't love him back. But... he's okay with it. And he has people in it that love him. It's about love, his story, I think."

I give Kirill a hug - Mark's been entirely too hard on him, and I slip away towards the wings.

Misha! Hey, Misha!

"What is it now, Vorakh? Oh, shit, I'm sorry. Still in character." Mikhail pretends to shake Dankovsky off of him - he's a total goofball when the curtain drops.

I know it's pretty bleak at the end there for Daniil, but what do you think happens to him?

Mikhail raises an eyebrow, hanging up the Bachelor's heavy coat. "Happens to him? After the story, you mean?"

Yeah. Does he go back, or stay, or what? And don't give me any of that 'open to interpretation' stuff.

"So demanding. You're shaping up to be as bad as Immortell! Well... I'll tell you the secret, you imp. Daniil goes on a huge bender with Andrey and Peter. Lots of - well, whatever moonshine they can make with twyrine out of the picture. And then, after that, he keeps putting off his return to the Capital while ol' Artemy puts some sense into him." He winks. "Maybe some more while he's at it. But he eventually goes back. Fights the good fight against death."

So he didn't learn anything?

"He learned plenty, kid. I think his story's about hope, you know? He got knocked down this time, but he learned to get back up again."

I thank Mikhail for his performance and he shakes my hand, before thinking better of it and pulling me into a hug. Then he punches my shoulder and playfully shoves me away. I dip into the greenroom.

I'm not interrupting you, am I, Raisa?

She undoes the tight bun her hair was in, combing out the sweaty tresses. "Those stage lights are murder, you know. You're fine. But," she waggles her fingers at me. "I know you want to ask me things."

Hey, the play's over - stop looking at my script!

"The play's never really over. So, to answer your question... well, the Changeling dies, but Clara... I think she stays, too. The Town deserves a bunch of new Mistresses wreaking havoc, and you can bet I'll be hounding the Director until I get my turn in the spotlight."

Might be a while...

"Yeah, but who cares? We can all theorize in the meantime, and laugh about what we have, and over-analyze til the cows come home, eh?"

So... what was the Changeling's story about? And I know you're gonna be all literal, so I'll ask what was Clara's about too.

"They're not that separate, kiddo. They're... parts of each other, that the other doesn't dare to acknowledge. Their story is about breaking free, but also accepting yourself. In a way, Clara is... broken. And she needs to reconcile her two selves to become whole again. You can't really break free of something you don't fully understand. So... understanding. That's what Clara's about. And not understanding."

Well... at least I have the not understanding part down.

She laughs at me, and insists she'll see me again real soon.

I wave goodbye. To the theatre. To the Town.

It's not forever. It's not even for a long time.

We'll all be back again, sooner than you think.

Curtain, and exeunt all players.
