I am very, very tired of being told how embarrassing I am to my family in social situations.

I'm an extroverted introvert. Great at people I already know. Horrible at strangers. My friends think I'm hilarious. My family thinks I'm a little weirdo woman-child that's probably best kept locked in a closet where she cannot open mouth and insert foot. Or not open mouth and kick herself in the damn face.

I am aware that I regularly fuck up routine encounters with strangers, thank you very much. I don't need you to reprimand me for it every time we go to the mall. Or a restaurant. Or someone's house. Or outside our house in general.

I could write a guide on How To Cope With Being An Extroverted Introvert, but it would literally be 1 step: stop giving a fuck about what other people think. I have mastered this step with people I will never see again.

But every time my sister tells me that I'm too loud, or too tense, or that I didn't make the appropriate response when someone she didn't even want to meet asked me how my drink was (the truth? it was nasty, but it's actually really fucking rude to tell people that what they serve you is gross), I feel like I'm 11 years old again.
