Trump hates majority-Muslim countries, unless he’s making money there.
Trump has declared that immigrants from Libya, Sudan, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Yemen and Somalia are "detrimental to the interests of the United States." He's ordered a ban on immigration from those countries - based solely on national origin - for at least 90 days. In the name of "law and order" and "national security," as he says. The last major terror attacks we've faced (since 2001) in the US were committed by people from the US, Chechnya, Afghanistan, Egypt, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, UAE, England, Pakistan and Nigeria. AKA, not one of the countries included in his ban.
Make no mistake, this is his "Muslim ban" under a different name, except for a few notable omissions. It's unconstitutional. It's made more unconstitutional by the fact that he said in an interview today that he's prioritizing Christian refugees from Syria over Muslim refugees from Syria (Link:http://www.reuters.com/…/us-usa-trump-refugees-idUSKBN15B2HL).
Notably absent from his Muslim ban are the Middle Eastern countries where Darth Cheeto has business ties. Turkey, UAE, Egypt and Saudi Arabia are all in the same area as the banned countries. All have significant Muslim populations. Turkey even had a widely publicized uprising within the last year. But Trump conducts active business in each of these. I just want to spread the love for a second and trash Mike Pence before I go to bed. Pence doesn't trust women and women should not trust Pence.
A sitting vice president has never spoken at a "March for Life" event in the past. Pro-zygote people have been having this shitshow event since Roe v. Wade happened in 1973. Reagan offered them praise over the phone in the 80's, Dubya gave them a call later on, but never has a sitting VP or President spoken at the zygote show.
As governor of Indiana, Pence defunded Planned Parenthood and signed eight bills that limit a woman's right to choose despite having no known uterus himself. As a congressman, he tried to defund Planned Parenthood and failed because, luckily, some people found sense. All that is to say this this jagoff is an absolute disaster for women's rights.
But back to the speech. He once again spread the false claim that taxpayer funding is actively being used to cover abolition (it isn't, and hasn't since 1976 thanks to the Hyde Amendment). He proudly spoke about Trump's reinstatement of the Mexico City Policy. This policy bans any US funding going to overseas organizations that even mention abortion as a choice, even if they don't provide the service themselves. So, health organizations are faced with either lying to women or no longer receiving funding. This policy kills women because, as anyone with a brain will tell you, banning abortion only bans SAFE abolition. Women are still going to look for the service, and they'll have to get it from coat hangers in back-alleys rather than in doctors offices. The Mexico City Policy kills women.
Moving on, the theme of his speech was "Life is winning in America for many reasons." He cited several reasons, but one of them was Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPC's). CPC's are places that exist solely for the purpose of talking women out of getting an abortion. They lie to women, providing false information on abortion with follow-up information on the exact nature of the hell that awaits women that choose abortion. Some have even lied saying that they provide abortion services just to get women in the door to convince them not to get an abortion. They intentionally open near abortion clinics and choose names to confuse women into thinking that the CPC is the women's health clinic. They use gruesome botched abortion photos (that usually aren't even medically accurate) and nonsense threats of cancer and infertility to convince women not to get an abortion.
The vast majority of CPC's don't have medical licenses or medically-trained staff and do not offer any kind of medical services. Again, THEIR SOLE PURPOSE IS TO LIE TO WOMEN TO CONVINCE THEM NOT TO GET AN ABORTION.
They are preying on women at their most vulnerable time, promising help and support for motherhood then disappearing once the baby's born. And VP Mike Pence is praising them. CPC's, the zygote army and Mike Pence do not trust women. And women should not trust them because all three of those entities will sell you out in a second. Darth Cheeto is going to tax Mexico 20%? Get ready for the prices of gas, electronics, fruits, vegetables, car parts, coffee, Corona, Dos Equis, tequila and all the other stuff we get from Mexico to go way up. That 20% tax will absolutely be passed on US customers, so we'll still be the ones paying for his ill-conceived wall. The sheer, unapologetic ignorance of this administration just blows my mind.
