It wasn’t uncommon for Felix to be woken up in the middle of the night because medical needed him. There were only so many doctors, and if there was a large enough emergency they often needed everyone they had and then some. He wasn’t surprised when his room’s alarm woke him up at nearly three in the morning. But that didn’t mean he liked it either. Felix scrambled out of bed and turned off the alarm so medical would know that he was awake and coming. He rushed to wake himself up some more and get dressed. He didn’t have any trouble running to medical- the halls were empty at three in the morning.
“What’s going on?” Felix asked once he arrived, minutes after waking up. Medical was relatively empty. Definitely not an emergency. It would have been buzzing with activity if it was an emergency. A nurse answered his question. Adri had requested him to stitch her up. Felix sighed, but set to sanitizing his hands and putting on gloves. “So, tell me what happened, and why I’m the only doctor on the entire Ark that can fix it, so you had to wake me up at three in the morning.” Felix said when he walked into her room. His voice was tired. He looked tired. But he still wore a slight smile upon greeting her.
Why was it always her that was left to deal with the drunks? She was a head guard ━ but every time there was another case of too much alcohol being called in, her colleagues were suddenly nowhere to be found or too busy, and she ended up being the one to have to take up on the call-in. Tonight, unfortunately, had been no different.
The old man had been completely out of his wits drunk and didn’t exactly take well to a guard trying to take away his bottle. He’d smashed it against the table and threatened Adriana with it ━ while she normally responded to actions like that with a kick to the groin and breaking a nose, this was an old man, and she did not want to hurt him. It took a while and a few careful struggles until she finally hit the bottle out of his hands and managed to get him in a relaxed hold.
It wasn’t until she had put him in one of the more comfortable cells to sleep it off she even found out she had been cut. One of the guards working the night shift at the prison station had pointed out that she was dripping blood all over his floors, mostly in annoyance at being forced to clean up after her, and after inspection, Adriana realized it would require stitches.
At first, she’d considered simply going to Felix’s door and ask him to patch her up there, but medical was closer by, and she wasn’t sure he even had the supplies at home. When he arrived, looking tired but smiling, she quickly climbed onto the bench, knowing he’d likely want to get back to bed as soon as possible.
“Another drunk ━ old guy, he got a little mad when I tried to take away his bottle, so he smashed it to pieces and cut me with the remains.” She replied, nodding to the bloody spot on her arm. A grin quickly grew on her face at his next comment. “And you know I don’t trust any of them. I can’t take any risks with someone messing up this beautiful physique.”
