So I noticed on one of your posts you're anti James Charles. May I ask why? I try to stay away from all things James Charles anyways
Okay, so apologies for the incoming rant. But James Charles inspires a rage in me that not even Greg ignites.
So real quick to preface this, I am an aspiring makeup artist. Thatâs what Iâm going to school for, I want to work on movies and tv shows, so for a time I was very invested in the beauty community on YouTube and Instagram. And then James came onto the scene and I realized how toxic the community is.
So the first problem I have with James is how he got famous, as many people know James got famous because of his yearbook photo. The story was that James did his own makeup and brought his own lighting, which is true he did both of those things. But his highlighter wasnât as bright as he wanted it to be so he emailed the company and asked them if he could photoshop it and send it back to them, they said âsureâ so he did. And that touched up photo is what launched his career, he was on Ellen, Beauty YouTubers had him on their channel, and he started his own where he quickly gained a following.
My problem with this is that he got famous over a lie, I am very much a believer that what you put out there is what the should people get. And because of that I donât touch up any of my photos, except for the occasional time I make the photo brighter because Iâm bad with lighting still. James still openly admits he photoshops and FaceTunes his photos and videos and people are just totally cool with it. And he even does this with product reviews not just tutorials, which is a lie to his audience who trusts him to tell them his honest opinion and give them an honest review. But instead he takes money to sell a bad product.
My next problem with him is theft. James is an art thief, he will go through Instagram and like peopleâs photos, only to later make that same look with a tiny, tiny difference and claim he came up with it on his own. He then goes after these people and demands credit from them, because they obviously copied his look, 2 years, weeks, months, days, before he posted his. Now he has stopped doing that as much, and just steals looks now and doesnât give credit where itâs due. Heâs done this so much, and people have caught on to it and get on him about it, he has even banned the word âCreditâ from his YouTube and Instagram comment sections. He has openly stated he has banned this word on his Twitter so thatâs not just a theory people made up.
Iâm a believer that you canât steal an idea because almost nothing is completely original anymore, all things are influenced from others and thatâs fine. However, James doesnât just take inspiration from these people, he steals the whole look and claims it as his.
Then, one of my biggest issues. I firmly believe James is a sexual predator and a psychological abuser. James has this habit of going after straight men, and tries to turn them. Itâs almost a fetish at this point, he does it constantly. He pushes the boundaries with them, and then when they show they are uncomfortable with it he starts his psychological abuse.
Psychological abuse is a way to manipulate people, the abuser typically starts playing the blame game, starts to gaslight their victim, will use belittling language and call names, and will even start to ignore every form of contact until their victim is begging for them to talk to them. This is all to cause emotional distress on to the victim. And James does all this. He blames Gage for leading him on, when he knew Gage was straight, he tried to gaslight Gage in his texts to him, he called Gage a âcon artistâ, a âmanipulatorâ and other things, he has blocked Gage on several occasions on everything for Gage not texting him back as soon as James wanted.
James is a disgusting person, he doesnât deserve his platform. He doesnât deserve the fame he has, he is a stuck up brat who thinks heâs better than he actually is.
