Costume References: (Broadway/London) Hades
Need some Hadestown costume references for drawing (or cosplay) ?? Here you go 🌹
Hades’s Act 1 costume consists of his black pinstriped suit, usually with his long black coat and shades. Act 2 contains the same silver undershirt and black tie, but with a pinstriped vest over it. The front half of the vest is black with the thin white stripes, while the back half is plain red. If you want to include a red flower nested in the pocket of the vest, Persephone puts it on him after “Epic III” (during “Lovers’ Desire”) and he takes it off during “His Kiss, the Riot.”
He also wears two rings on his left hand: a skull ring on his index finger and his wedding ring on his fourth finger. He also has a wall tattoo on his left arm (if you’re wondering, it’s not an actual tattoo, but a painted nylon sleeve attached to Patrick’s shirt).

aka "some cool trans women got airtime in 1973 to tell their own stories, and I sure have feelings about it"
anything that contains the phrase “secret BBC memo reveals” intrigues me automatically ngl but I want you all to know that as far as I can gather, the facts are even better than this headline
which is to say, this was part of an initiative in the early 1970s that not only featured marginalized groups on BBC programming, but made moves towards handing them editorial control – the BBC had to approve proposals, but after that, the station’s role was primarily to provide technical resources, facilities, and copyright handling. (another notable program under this initiative featured Black teachers discussing racism in the school system, and a link to that – plus discussion of the hurdles it faced – can be found here).
the program on trans experience was aired in 1973.
The programme, featuring trans women, began: “Jokes about ‘the operation’ are all that most people know about transexualism [sic]. Tonight’s group discuss their situation in a more serious and comprehensive way, and draw attention to the many difficulties they endure”.
you can watch Open Door: Transex Liberation Group here (as well as other archived LGBTQ programming from BBC).
1: hell yeah
2: David Attenborough was a childhood hero of mine and i’m glad to see he was always a champ

PHRASE ADDED!
"we're getting representation the hard way"
hey guys i'm going to the store can u make sure nothing happens to my chocolate milk
What's the process if you're a superhero and you come out as trans
Do you tell your villains?
Do you keep it a secret so no one can connect Spider-Man with your secret identity for a while? Or do you pop a pronouns pin on your costume and the next time you web up Doctor Octopus and he goes "I'LL GET YOU NEXT TIME SPIDER-MAN" you go "Spider-Girl actually! I've been figuring out some shit"
"Listen for Christ's sake we're a modern paper. Parker - Parker get in here - this is Madeline Parker, came out three months ago. Best photographer we've got. We're proud to have her on board. We at the Daily Bugle are proud to support the LGBTQ+ community bUT THIS SPIDER-GIRL IS A MENACE"
Overwhelming consensus on this post is that you should come out in your superhero identity first, and then a couple weeks down the line come out in your secret identity and when people ask just go “Oh seeing Spider-Girl come out really gave me the confidence to come out myself” which is the best possible answer
I used to see this image all the time in December but now literally nobody cares. We as a society have forgotten him. All he wanted was to offer us a nice treat and what did we do? We abandoned him. Hell has taken refuge in our hearts and its fires have burned to ash all warmth and love. We should be ashamed.
