a few other good french artists are yelle (electropop), the bb brunes (alt rock, kinda like arctic monkeys) and cœur de pirate (french-canadian singer songwriter) - i love this blog! :D
Thanks for the suggestions, I (Ari) love Cœur de Pirate too!
And Spacey’s here with some classic 80′s jams and maybe some more modern stuff:
Les champs-élysées (YOU WON’T FIND A MORE CLASSIC ONE, LEMME TELL YA)
Début de soirée
L’horloge tourne (A “modern” one)
Les démons de minuit
T’es ok
Garçons (Also a more modern one but definitely too old)
Rendez-vous au tas de sable
La mambo du décalco
La tristitude
Le café
Partenaire particulier
Dis-moi
Au bal masqué
Planète
Primitif
Je t’emmène au vent
Désolé pour hier soir
On n’est pas là pour se faire engueuler
La lettre
La tribu de Dana
Petit papa noel
La seine et moi (more on that one in a bit)
Soprano, Christophe Maé, Grégoire, Tryo, Renaud, Oldelaf, Max boublil, Fatal Bazooka, Gotainer and Boby Lapointe, if you listen to them and all the songs in this playlist, you’ll basically have 95% of French songs. (In case you didn’t notice, this French fry was heavily raised on 80s-90s music and therefore I have no idea what music looks like these days)
Also I looked at some of the links in the masterpost thing and well, I gotta add some stuff
Youtubers
Le joueur du grenier AND Le bazar du grenier : these 2 channels are ran by the same dude and it’s about video games
Linksthesun : About music and kinda everything ? You’ll see what I mean if you check it out
Mr. Antoine Daniel : About messed up videos he found on youtube
Mathieu sommet : Same as Antoine-Daniel
Karim Debbache : About movies inspired from video games. The channel no longer makes videos though Apparently they do, see here (thanks @luciasatalina)
Les Kassos : Come take a look at gross French humour, you’ll most likely regret it
Movies
Les intouchables
Le roi et l’oiseau (AND ACTUALLY, here’s something we both worked on a bit ago, if you like old animation, go take a look at it)
Le petit prince
Un monstre à Paris
That being said, if you go watch Disneys and Pixars and Dreamworks in French, you’ll most likely have very different dialogues so go do that. And I insist you do it in FRANCE French, not the Canadian one. If you watch it in Canadian French, the dialogues actually try very hard to stick to the original texts.
(or if you’re bored/nerdy enough, watch both and compare for fun -Ari)
