“I would have been fine with all of us going.” He chuckles. It would appear as if Barley was sulking. The whole point was to get the werewolf out of the castle. To see other parts of the world and get him interested in living, not just surviving. Diethelm had always been a huge proponent of such a life. There was a clear difference between going by day to day, and then actually looking forward to waking up.
“But, with the way we move, it wouldn’t be as long. We wouldn’t take a plane…” Perish the thought. “I just thought it would be good to get away for awhile.” While Barley says such things that he doesn’t want others around him, it’s hard for Diethelm not to see how lonely Barley felt. Diethelm hums now. “If you don’t wish to go, then we can stay here also.”
“Oh, well I mean, that works too.” He spoke with slight confusion and surprise. Barley had always been so used to the Vampire taking time out to spend with only him. Perhaps it was due to his animal instincts when it came to strangers, but he felt a tad uncomfortable with the idea if all three of them went. Especially if Diethelm had grown attached to his fledgling.
Little by little it seemed that the Were simply grew more and more distant to those around him. Spending his time, even his life as it were, alone in the forest. Like the animal he was, it was all about surviving. Day to day, finding food to survive, a good place to sleep, rinse and repeat. He grew used to being alone, painfully so, that any sort of interaction had him confused and wary. Even when it came to Diethelm, a dear friend and rival he’s known for so long. “Ya got a point there, I guess.” He said softly with a shrug of his shoulders. “Don’t want ya not goin’ cus of me. So if ya wanna go, ya can. I’ll probably jsut, ya know, look around the castle for ya in the meantime.”
The sentiment is appreciated. It’s warming to hear from his old friend that he still cared for him in such a way. The truth of the matter was, is that for all Diethelm’s power and all his bravado, he had gotten lonely. There are only so many vampire lords that come to visit, so many demons or supernatural creatures in the castle to distract from that simple truth. He sought companionship. It was just found in an unlikely place.
He smiles gently, papping his hand down into the snow and leaving a clawed hand mark. “Thank you, Barley…” He says softly. It was nice to hear.
But then Barley goes about talking and distracting himself, the vampire knows why. The real answer is no. Diethelm knows that the werewolf probably feels the same way. There had been distractions from Lucian, probably, but just like Etienne for him, there would always be a hole there. And so Diethelm gives a sympathetic smile.
“Yes, I can understand. Hmm…” Fledglings and, in Barley’s case, ‘pups’, were a big responsibility. One that Diethelm knows first hand. Maybe what Barley needed wasn’t someone that was another were wolf, but just someone that would accept that he was. “I hear that Paris has a lot of people like us. I mean, not humans. Would you want to go and see? I mean, with me, sometime.”
Truth be told, the thought of his past interactions with Lucien still haunted him, just enough that any sort of intimacy felt wrong. Like it was all a trap to ruin him further, but, alas, he kept those thoughts away. Finding one distraction after another. Perhaps that had been the reasoning for his return to the industries. To find a distraction, to wreck havoc and fire where it felt... safe, despite the industries just being a fools game for money.
“Uh...?” Like a confused dog, he tilted his head at the Vampires offer before simply chuckling. The way the Elder worded it reminded him of when he was a teenager asking a girl out for the first time. Though he knew well that wasn’t the case here. “Dunno.” He started before changing the position of how he sat. One where he was more straight and his legs crossed Indian style. “Paris is sorta far, ya know? I don’t exactly like travelin’ much. ‘Sides, I ain’t exactly tryin’ ta actively find others like me. Why not take yer fledglin or sometihn’. He’ll probably get a better kick out of it than me.”
They come to the forest, which is no surprise. He knew that Barley liked to go running sometimes and disappear into the pack that he frequented. But for Diethelm, the forest was something he didn’t have dominion over, and so he felt out of control while in it. That was fine, though. Slowly, he brushes off a bit of snow from a stump and sits down.
“Hmm?” He hums looking up at the other. “Oh, he’s fine. With Marcel and Destan… having left…” He looks slightly pained when he says the names. “-I had become lonely from want of a fledgling. I have grown quite attached to him actually.” Then he tilts his head just a small amount. “How about you, Barley? I know it can get lonely in the castle… And I am not the best companion.” A chuckle. “Have you been out to see others like you?”
With the Vampire being the owner of the castle they lived in, the forest felt just the same. Barley knew everything about this forest, from the animals that rested in it to the trails and plants that formed. He even knew the best spots to hide and sleep in when he didn’t want to be disturbed during warm spring afternoons.
Watching as the Vampire sat to get comfortable, Barley did just about the same, going to sit by a tree as he listened to the Vampire speak. Though, he never knew much about Marcel or Destan. What he did know was that those two were held dear to the Elder. He almost felt a bit of sympathy, but for his own past, he’s blocked out most of what he could feel. People came and went, and it was something bitter he had t deal with.
Diethelm could probably feel how Barley felt deep inside, but on the outside, the Were kept his composer, or rather what he had of it. “Just don’t get too attached, ya know. Don’t want somethin’ ta happen ta ya.” There was a bit of a soft laughter that came deep from the Were.
When asked the question, however, the Pyro became still, a hand motioning to the ground beside him to play with the snow. Much like how he spent his time at the industries playing with the ground he knew to kill time as mercenaries stared frightfully like the monster he was. “Only a few. Though they ain’t all, ya know, dogs, I guess.” There was a big of a pause, fiddling with the snow more. “I don’t talk to ‘em much. They ain’t all exactly nice. Sometimes I just don’t wanna bother with ‘pups’ either.”
Barley almost seemed relieved. Sometimes, he couldn’t handle the Vampire when he became so energetic and childish. It wasn’t about energy or stamina, more so the fact that Barley had been getting lazy. All minor joys in his life seemed bothersome and pointless, but would he show that this was how he felt? No.
The Were simply lead the Vampire to the forest now, a place that was far too familiar. “So who's the new guy this time?’ He questioned the Elder, hands being shoved into his pants pocket.
Firefly is honestly one of the best songs I have ever heard in my thrice damned life.
Casually, there is a vampire sneaking up behind the werewolf. He waits for his opportunity, and then yells and tries to spook the man.
Little did the Vampire know that even he too had a scent of his own, one that smelt of sex and sugary treats. The Were was unfazed at the yelling and simply turned his attention to the Vampire, confused. “Uh? What’s up?”
The pyro seemed.... upset, judging by their body gesture. Arms were folded over their chest and they took up the entire couch out of spite.
► -Gestures the removal of the Spy's mask.-
Send my character a ► and a command. They must obey.
There was a brief of hesitation when faced with the request.
It had to be done. Regrettably.
Without any form of resistance, he gripped the top of the mask and instantly whisked it off, revealing the pale skin that hasn’t seen the light of day for years and the dark locks that laid flat and caked in sweat.
The Pyro had their arms neatly crossed over as they waited patiently for the removal of the Spy’s mask.
Though a small part of them felt bad for having forced the other to do so in such a manner, but once that mask was off, they couldn’t help but stare. Those eyes that were hidden from under the gas mask’s thick lens traced over the Spy’s features. They stared at the stray locks of hair that fell and were painted over with sweat.
It earned a small chuckle from the firebug. They pointed to the Spy's face and then up at the sky. Perhaps they were suggesting the man should tan.

“You’re quite easy on the eyes.”
With the change in body language, it just proved the Spy’s theory on how much more convincing and persuading that would be needed to obtain the end goal of seeing their face. It wouldn’t be an interesting pursuit if this challenge didn’t reveal itself.
“I understand, revealing one’s true identity is a difficult one.” His voice was gentle when he spoke, showing how much he cared and respected the other’s personal space. “I will try my best to earn your trust. My work may pertain to backstabbing, but outside, I do strive to be an honest man.”Antoine coaxed, fabricating his statement out of thin air.
“You have my word.”
The Pyro looked back to the Spy and shook their head with a few extra mumbles given. It was almost as if they were trying to disagree about hiding their identity. They gave a ‘noh’ and tried to gesture the best they could that it was more or less preference to keep his face hidden. But how good could he even gesture that from being covered up?
After his attempt, he just gave an uncaring shrug of his shoulders. The Pyro had a bad history with Spies, but if he really wanted to try, the Firebug couldn’t stop them. It would simply be a challenge the man would have to take and undergo.
