Seeing Keigo like this was really adorable. Renji was baffled at how the younger couldn’t see just amazing he actually was. At least, the red head saw it. It seemed he had selective courage. Faced with certain threats, the brunet wouldn’t budge. But approaching with and obvious romantic intent? Suddenly a bashful Keigo appeared.

The stray leaned down, prepared for a kiss. When it was placed on his cheek instead, Renji tilted his head, watching him dart away-- for whatever reason. “Oi, Keigo!” Calling out to him, hoping to lure him back.

“C’mere, you forgot somethin’.”

Keigo really hadn’t thought much before he said what he had said, but now that it was brought into focus, he was a little embarrassed for having let it come out of his mouth. “Th-that’s– I m-mean, I k-know!! I wasn’t–” Keigo stammered horribly, waving his hands around in a defensive gesture. Once Renji got closer, Keigo fell silent again, sucking in a sharp breath through his nose.

He was so much … more than Keigo was. Taller, broader, stronger… It was hard to not get entranced by his presence, to not look at him as anything but some unattainable desire. But there he was, standing so close to Keigo, touching him. Keigo swallowed, letting his eyes drift over Renji’s face.

“…Mmn, y-yeah…” Keigo said, almost dreamily. He found himself leaning into the touch of Renji’s hand, almost like a cat might. “I-I’m okay with that.”

When the shorter began to stutter, Renji offered a soft smile. Continuing to stroke his hair gently. It was like nothing else, being so drawn to the guy, all from years of being around him. Keigo had matured so much in all this time. The stray felt more content in his presence. Like he could just be himself instead of trying to impress someone.

As Keigo moved into his touch, the red head smiled even more. Plus, that voice, it was so soft-- it struck a chord within himself. “Ok good.. because I really do like you and I don’t wanna mess this up.” He would then lean in even more, his hand now lowering to cradle the brunet’s cheek. Lips brought almost to meet his but paused, only to whisper his name in a low tone, brimming with adoration. “..Keigo~”

Eyes closed as the remaining fraction of distance was now gone. A quiet hum of wanting melted into the kiss. His pulse quickened as he prolonged the moment, savoring how he tasted.

Keigo watched as Renji moved his wrist, followed the bandana as it moved. His mind was already going lewd places, but he certainly couldn’t let that be known, could he? Though it was likely pretty obvious already, with how flushed his face was.

“‘tch, ‘later,’ huh…” Keigo nudged Renji back, huffing defiantly. “Only later if you’re lucky.” What better way to tackle his shame than to tease someone else?

His eyes widened, tying the fabric back around his head. “I meant later, as in later on when we’re at that kind of comfort with each other.” So, that was just a misunderstanding--but he was learning a bit more about Keigo.

Bringing that smirk back out. “Besides, we haven’t even kissed yet.” He stood much closer at this point. Reaching out to run a hand through those soft brown locks. “..that and I don’t want to rush ya into anything too heavy. We can take things one step at a time, yeah?”

Well. That was fast. Keigo balks a little, looking fairly flustered.

“O-oi! Why’re you lookin’ at me like that, huh?” As if it wasn’t obvious…

Letting out a quiet chuckle, the bandanna held loosely, swaying it side to side. “Oh c’mon, I was just teasin’.” Lightly nudging him with an elbow.

“I mean-- that’s somethin’ for later anyway.”

Keigo grumbled at the compliment (though he certainly wasn’t inclined to call it anything of the sort!) and nudged Renji back. There was no arguing about his stuttering, he knew that… he just couldn’t help it; the situation was so painfully awkward that it brought that sort of thing out of him…

“‘tch, nice save…” Keigo muttered, reaching over to rub his own arm, his palm smoothing over the sleeve of his shirt. That moment of silence that befell them felt like a million years to Keigo before Renji broke it, and Keigo almost wished he hadn’t. He didn’t know how to answer him! Chewing on his lower lip, he gave a shrug that was meant to come off as casual and uncaring. It didn’t really work. “I… I dunno… Um…” Keigo stared at his lap, his fingers resorting to a similar fidgeting at the hem of his shirt. “I-it’s not that weird, right? T-to think that sort of thing about each other…” This was all new to Keigo, after all. At least in this context…

Giving a little smirk at the offhand comment. The small things he did, just like that, was only part of what Renji found so adorable about Keigo. However, there was a bit of awkwardness surrounding the two. Which the fukutaichou was used to but at least it was mutual. If that made any sense.

His head tilted slightly, blinking as if trying to lure Keigo’s gaze back to him. He huffed quietly as he smiled. “Weird? No, I don’t think that at all. I suppose it would feel that way maybe if these feelings weren’t reciprocated.” Shrugging lightly as he stated so. Still, there was the question looming overhead-- what do they do now?-- Shifting his position slightly, so he was facing the brunet instead of just siting beside. “This kinda thing is natural. I mean-- when ya like someone, there really isn’t any helping it, y’know?” Hardly aware that he was inching closer as he was speaking.

It was one thing to be awkward on his own, but to have Renji just as awkward as he happened to be was an interesting situation to be a part of. It almost made Keigo more embarrassed to see Renji’s face turn a darker shade, but he somehow managed to keep himself in check. He was cute like that, wasn’t he? Not something he’d ever have expected to actively think about the Shinigami, but there it was.

“H-hey, I’m not some kind of awkward nerd or anything!” Keigo stuttered, laughing nervously after the fact. He dropped his hand from his neck and let it fall to his lap. He eyed Renji, noticing the persistent redness on his face. With another laugh, he continued, “You’re actin’ pretty shy yourself, y’know. All that from a dumb compliment, huh?”

Ok so they had both just admitted their attraction towards one another. Renji was feeling a lot more at ease with it out in the open now. He wasn’t even sure when it really started but it lead them to this point and that’s what actually mattered.

The red head had to laugh at that. “Oh yeah? That cute stutter makes me think otherwise.” He was teasing, of course. Lightly nudging Keigo’s arm with his own. Then he was called out on his own shyness. Renji’s brows furrowed as a small pout formed. “Me? No way. I’m just being a little quiet so you won’t get too shy around me!” Yeah, that was exactly it. Nice save. His gaze returned to the younger’s, feeling his pulse quicken slightly. “So-- what do we do now?” His hands mindlessly fidgeting at the fabric of his own sleeves.

Keigo glanced Renji’s way again, a red flush spreading across his skin. He’d never thought in a million years that he’d be having this conversation with Renji, of all people. Though, it wasn’t a bad thing, either; Keigo simply couldn’t wrap his head around his friend finding him that attractive…

Rubbing at the back of his neck, Keigo chuckled shyly. His lips curved upward slightly, reflecting his embarrassment. “W-wow… a-ahaha… Renji, that’s really…” shocking? Flattering? Keigo could barely string a proper thought together. “T-that means a lot to me… especially coming from you. Y-you’re a lot braver than me,” he said, pausing to add shyly: “…b-better looking, too.”

The way he was looking at him just now brought about a small blush of surprise. Renji cleared his throat in attempt to draw the attention from such a reaction. “I’m glad to hear you say so.” He admitted quietly. Damn, he didn’t realize just how adorable Keigo could be. Sure, they’d known each other for a while but the red head was now noticing how attractive he really was.

“Well, I try to be anyway--” Hang on a sec.. did he just..? His eyes widened slightly at the compliment. “I don’t know about that..” Now that the tables were turned, Renji was pretty much at a loss for words. Letting a small chuckle break the moment of silence. “I guess you’re not as shy as I thought.” Bringing his confidence back to the surface even though he was indeed still blushing a little.

Well, that was … something. Keigo swallowed roughly, his eyes darting away from the Shinigami as though that would save him from the awkwardness of the conversation. How did they get into this mess, anyway? Keigo chewed on his lower lip, reaching up to twist his fingers through his hair.

“’Hypothetical,’ huh…” Keigo murmured. He shook his head slowly. “N-nah, it’s fine… i-it’s just–” he sighed briefly, then fidgeted where he sat. “It’s shocking, y’know? Ahahaha… I didn’t even think you’d… um… find me attractive like that…”

Maybe he’d said too much? Catching all those tell tale signs that Keigo was nervous, the stray let out a short sigh. “Eh, don’t let it worry ya. I mean, those kind of thoughts happen from time to time. I think saying them out loud is like taking a chance.” He shrugged lightly, offering a grin to the brunet.

Renji knows how it is to feel anxious or nervous around certain people, he wouldn’t hold it against the guy, or poke fun because of it. “I just wanted to be honest and-- yeah I do think you’re attractive, Keigo. I mean, you’ve got a lot of bravery, some may not see it but that’s a quality I happen to admire.”

Not so pissed off but definitely violent tackling and one armed clinging. Don’t forget a good bite on the shoulder to help with his grip on the opposite side where he lacks an arm.

Is tackled and now tumbling to the ground. A wild Baiken is gnawing on his shoulder. Not a terrible death, he would have to accept his fate. However, he wasn’t going out like a chump! Cue a bite of retaliation to the other’s neck. Growling like a dog-- more like a puppy.
