I write headcanons not fics or one shots, if that's what you're looking for I'm sure someone out there will do it

I won't write headcanons with potentially triggering topics such as any kind of abuse or death

there's also some topics that I just don't know enough about to write on accurately, including certain cultures, disorders, etc etc

I don't do nsfw requests. maybe slight spice but nothing explicit yknow

there's some ships and characters that I won't write for. I won't write for ereri and I won't write for floch (unless it's slander)

I don't do angst I prefer writing crack or funny hcs

I can ignore a request for any reason, I'm not obligated to do them

unless I can come up with at least 5 or more headcanons for a request, I won't do it because I just don't have enough ideas for it

(unless on hiatus) if I don't respond to a request quickly I probably haven't ignored you I'm just busy or haven't gotten to it yet

literally nobody asked him to throw a party. no one. his entire house reeks of weed and cigarettes and nobody wants to sit on his couches because who knows what's on there.

he invites his pals anyway, and they show up reluctantly, because if they don't he will text them nonstop for a week after midnight trying to figure out if he pissed them off or something. no dude, just clean your house

armin and annie

oh, my dear boy. parties make him anxious so he really doesn't enjoy them. he can't drink because he'll get sick. well, he gets sick anyway, he has a surprisingly sensitive stomach and it's worse when he's anxious. thus, our angel spends a lot of his time in the bathroom. last year he missed midnight because of it.

annie, on the other hand, sits on the floor of the living room or wherever they may be and either reads the labels of whatever she can find or looks around for any pets. now, if reiner is there, she is picking a fight, but that's a different story

mikasa

is slightly intoxicated on wine before she even gets to the celebration at eren's. sometimes she needs to be in order to listen to him without tearing her hair out.

jean, connie, marco, and sasha

they're together all night so.... putting them as one. oddly enough none of them really care about midnight they just use it as an excuse to hang out and have gummies that jean got from his cousin. marco eats way more gummies than he should because it helps his tics and jean always has to tell him to stop at some point.

thus, while jean, connie, and sasha are having a toast at midnight for the hell of it, marco is flat on the couch babbling about how he can't feel his teeth

historia and ymir

they usually just go out drinking a bit in the evening then have one of their friends bring them home so they can stay in together and watch the countdown themselves.

they rarely show up at new year's parties but when they do it's usually historia's idea and ymir just gets dragged along. they have had to leave several times because of fights being started.

erwin, levi, and hange

they are literally just. two gen x's and their millennial pal. it literally does not matter how much erwin drinks, he's calm the whole time and doesn't really make it obvious. levi doesn't drink at all he will literally just have tea. yes, tea, even on new year's eve.

hange sometimes has to be evicted into the garage for timeout because they get way too hype at the countdown and have on several occasions broken something in the living room at midnight

reiner and bertholdt

they usually just hang out with their dog but might bring her with them if they decide to visit friends for the night. she's their anchor to make sure they don't get carried away with alcohol or what have you because they still have to be responsible dads obviously

bert has a very low social battery and is most likely asleep not even five minutes past midnight. reiner however takes a while to get relaxed so he usually just tries to read for a bit while bert kicks around in his sleep lmao

porco and pieck

they literally just stay in his room with his cat and tune out the tv until midnight because they both think the performances are garbage. every now and then though they'll turn it up and ruthlessly judge the performer whether it be their outfit, moves, lipsyncing, etc. or if they just don't like the person in general because they're both spiteful of celebrities

zeke

sits either on a chair or couch, silently, 12oz can of cerveza palma in one hand, cigarette in the other, continuously checking his watch even though the time is on the tv. blows one of those paper party horns at exactly 12:00am then gets up and goes to bed

yelena

if the major news networks didn't know who she was on december 31 they definitely will on january 1.

Character’s worst habits/quirks? Have they ever tried to break those habits?

AOT characters’ worst habits

just warnings for bad habits

so obviously this is gonna include cigarettes and stuff

eren

stays up way too late then sleeps in sporadic intervals. his thought process is basically “alright I’m gonna check instagram / twitter / reddit one more time....” then all of a sudden the sun is rising and birds are chirping.

mikasa has pressured him into going to sleep earlier and has even taken his phone away before bed to encourage him to sleep but then his mind is just racing the whole time and he can’t keep his thoughts quiet, so even though he’s tried to break the habit, it never really works. melatonin doesn’t help him either

he also vapes but does not intend to stop :/

mikasa

90% of the time when she gets a text, she doesn’t respond to it, even if it’s one of her close friends. usually it’s not because she’s ignoring them but because she’s doing something and tells herself she’ll respond to it in a minute then forgets about it. she has not tried to fix this and still ignores people constantly

armin

he’s always way too critical of himself and over analyzes everything he does. he’s far too judgmental of his own actions and thoughts then acts like he isn’t if someone points it out. he’s pretty much always been like this so he finds it difficult to stop

jean

takes things WAY too personally. if someone says his outfit doesn’t match, or they don’t like his new haircut, or any other insignificant comment, it’s going straight to his head and he’s gonna contemplate it for hours. he just can’t help it and is doing his best to start not giving a shit

also vapes and has tried to stop numerous times but keeps going back to it unfortunately

connie

when he’s nervous he chews on his lips and pulls the skin off until they bleed BUT he has managed to switch up the habit by getting a chewy necklace :)

sasha

stares at the fridge then comes back a few minutes later to check if any new food miraculously showed up. that’s it that’s the habit she can’t help it

historia

says “like” a lot and has no intention to stop

ymir

swears as often as she speaks normally. she does it habitually and usually doesn’t even realize that she’s doing it. she’s tried to stop by wearing a rubberband on her wrist and pulling it when she curses but for some reason she still can’t stop swearing

also used to smoke cigarettes but managed to stop!

levi

insults people he hardly knows. plenty of people hate him at this point but the ones who don't take it to heart and mock him right back will usually end up becoming his best and likely his only friends. this is how he and hange got acquainted

hange

doesn’t drink enough water. they usually opt for coffee, tea, or some sort of energy drink. they’ve slowly started to wean themselves onto water with flavor additives though

erwin

has a glass of wine to help him sleep. he’s tried taking melatonin supplements but they just don’t ease his anxiety the same way and he knows it’s bad for him but doesn’t know how to relax enough to fall asleep otherwise

reiner

bottles up his emotions for way too long, sometimes for months at a time, and lets it all out in one grand explosion of anger and tears. he doesn’t know how to gradually let go of emotional baggage and it really wears on him. he talks about it in therapy and has gotten a bit better though!

bertholdt

bites his nails completely raw. he’s tried and managed to stop many times but the cycle always repeats itself and he goes back to biting. the longest he ever went without biting was when annie painted his nails

annie

eats things like avocados despite being horribly allergic to them so she breaks out in hives but refuses to stop... 

porco

procrastinates all the time on assignments. actually, he usually never ends up doing the thing that he need to do so it probably shouldn't even be considered procrastination. he doesn’t have the motivation to try to fix it anymore.

pieck

she has several unpleasant stims but the biggest one is picking and scraping at her skin until she’s bleeding, she has tried several times to replace it with another stim like tapping on her skin instead and has gotten better at it but sometimes it’s hard not to pick

zeke

he smokes cigarettes. not a lot, but more than he should, and has tried to stop before by putting toothpicks in his mouth instead but it just wasn’t the same. sometimes he uses nicotine patches instead though

eren: I honestly think he would push some boundaries (he’s not even trying to be weird, he just gets too excited) and tries to use his tongue way too quickly. once you tell him to slow down he panics and apologizes and lets you guide

mikasa: very gentle and would typically let you lead. as for her personal preferences though she’d like giving small pecks along your jaw and cheeks so lightly to the point they almost tickle

armin: expect lots of kisses on the hands, neck, jaw, and pecks on the ears. he’s super physically affectionate and knows how to display it

jean: for someone who doesn’t have a lot of experience he’s actually pretty good at it. he’d gently hold your chin with a few fingers and turn your head slightly in the right direction as if he’d done it a million times before

marco: is actually kind of nervous about it so he might tremble a little bit but he’s super sweet and gentle, with more experience he gets confident and might softly chew on your lower lip if you’re okay with it

connie: he lets you decide when to kiss and doesn’t make any moves himself unless you clearly express being okay with it. he keeps his hands to himself the whole time so you kind of have to tell him what to do since he doesn’t want to accidentally push a boundary lmao

sasha: biter. she’d pull on your lip (if you’re okay with it, of course) and laugh against your mouth because she can barely keep her composure even while doing something romantic

historia: usually isn’t one for long kisses and prefers quick, sweet little pecks. she also really likes being hugged during a kiss and she personally prefers romantic kissing rather than intimate, if that makes sense

ymir: she kind of tastes like cigarettes so it’s definitely something to get used to and she’s a bit.... touchy. fill in the blanks

levi: never initiates, always lets you start it first. another respectful king who doesn’t want to break boundaries and he sometimes asks if he’s doing it right (he doesn’t have a lot of experience, it’s cute though)

hange: usually quite vanilla in a normal romantic sense but in more intimate circumstances they like to trace your lips with their tongue, since they have a piercing

erwin: one hand on the back of the neck, one hand on the side of the face. slow and sensual, absolute romantic gentleman

reiner: he definitely has the vibe of someone who would bite and gently pull on your lip, I think he’d lead for the most part but immediately back off if at any point you want to slow down

bertholdt: nervous nervous nervous. before anything he’d ask what you’re okay with and usually keeps his hands situated firmly in his lap or by his side. 

annie: she often hums into kisses and doesn’t even realize she does it. she’s also not a huge fan of quick kisses and pecks, like if you’re gonna kiss, commit to it

porco: he’ll put one hand on your jaw but other than that he keeps his hands to himself. long kisses aren’t really his thing because he’ll get overwhelmed and worry about making you uncomfortable so he pays a lot of attention to physical cues and such. basically, he overthinks it

pieck: pecks. lots of pecks from pieck. that is all <3

eren: when someone says they trust him. why? how? what are you thinking? that’s suspicious

mikasa: people who stare. especially if she meets their gaze and they quickly look away

armin: people who put milk before their cereal

jean: people who slightly alter their story based on who they’re telling it to. why? what are you concealing? what's the point?

connie: when someone makes up an answer instead of just saying they don’t know. how smart do you think connie is he’s probably not going to understand that you don’t understand

sasha: not owning up to their mistakes and / or shifting blame. yeesh

historia: not respecting her decision when she says no to something small. miss girl here doesn’t want to be judged for saying no to a damn soda or something

ymir: when someone is very obviously hypocritical and judges people for things that they do themselves

levi: handshakes that are WAY too firm

hange: when someone borrows something from them then “””forgets””” to return it

erwin: when someone doesn't listen to music in the car and instead drives in silence

reiner: when someone starts a sentence with “I’m not homophobic, but-”

bertholdt: automatically distrusts anyone who feels the need to continually say “believe me”

annie: the second that you share what your IQ is, she doesn’t trust you

porco: when someone states something he knows to be false as a fact. either they don’t know what they’re talking about or they’re intentionally being deceptive

pieck: people who talk way too much about themselves and their lives, especially when she didn’t ask

zeke: trick question, he doesn’t trust anyone to begin with

headcanons for the aot characters at a museum?

AOT characters’ day at a museum

modern

eren: doesn’t care about the exhibits and just follows his friends around but eventually he saw a dog and was excited so he followed the dog and got lost. museum security had to find mikasa for him

mikasa and armin: both of them take a lot of time going through each and every piece reading all the labels and learning as much as they can about the art in particular, then they both geek out over it and ramble to each other nonstop on the way home

jean: takes an edible before he gets there and goes absolutely bonkers when he sees a god damn dinosaur skeleton exhibit

connie: giggles and points when he sees someone naked in a painting

sasha: spends all of her time in the paleontology part, carrying around a bunch of stuff she still has from the cafe. she sits and stares at the extinct animal statues while eating chips

historia and ymir: historia drags ymir around like an excited child and their parent, forcing her to hold her up if she’s too short to see over something. ymir also lowkey really enjoys museums and particularly likes anthropology and artifacts so historia always gives her time to marvel at them

hange: gets forcibly removed for trying to lick the exhibits

levi: is the guy forcibly removing people

erwin: carries all of his kids’ things in a backpack while they look around and has his trusty nikon d610 on hand so he can force them all to take a lovely group photo he can savor

reiner: LOVES the dinosaurs. once he’s done dragging bert through all the dino exhibits though he’s gonna try to round up the kids because they always manage to dupe him and leave his sight. but by god he’s gonna look at the dinos first.

bertholdt: such a good mom. he holds all of gabi and falco’s stuff while they look around and always ask them if they’re thirsty or hungry. when he’s not bothering with the kids he’s taking a lot of candid pictures of reiner happily pointing at the dinosaurs that he saves

annie: usually goes off on her own because she spends a long time looking at each individual exhibit and nobody wants to wait that long for her. she really likes looking at old machines in particular, like steam engines and planes

porco: history aficionado right here. he genuinely enjoys museums and makes little comments to himself when he sees exhibits he likes. takes a lot of pictures on his phone too

pieck: no matter what she has a backpack with her the entire time with water and snacks that she brought from home because she thinks museum concessions are too expensive. she just likes listening to porco ramble to himself and follows him around

zeke: seems nonchalant but is lowkey geeking out on the inside the whole time, he’s super enthusiastic about museums and anthropology in particular. he really connects with the neanderthals, you know?

I did a post for aot characters' gender and sexualities headcanons before but I wanted to revamp it bc I had some new big brain ideas

mikasa: as a wise anon once told me, big tiddy bisexual goth gf

armin: token he/they straight but would not complain about kissing a man

jean: cisbi with a preference for women but lowkey checks out dudes on the reg

connie: cishet but like in a really fruity way, he probably kisses his friends as a hello

sasha: cis pansexual

historia: cis lesbian, had a bisexual phase but was like Nah

ymir: genderfluid sapphic, I think she's okay with any pronouns but is usually fem

levi: cis pansexual solidarity w/ sasha

hange: pansexual and some sort of nonbinary, doesn't really use a gender label other than that. any pronouns (prefers they) and whether they're afab or amab is up to you, I like both

erwin: hear me out I think he's gay, but put up a straight front for his reputation

reiner: cis gay gay homosexual gay

bertholdt: he/they pan

annie: she had like three crises about her sexuality and eventually settled on bi. whether she's cis or transfem is also up to you because I adore her anyway

porco: bi trans guy, prefers women

pieck: she/they bi, whether she's afab or amab is up to you bc transfem pieck owns my whole heart but I love her either way

zeke: cishet but would flirt with a guy as a joke then genuinely question himself so honestly who knows bc he doesn't

onyankopon: cishet but like the really cool supportive kind that would go to pride

yelena: definitely sapphic. afab or amab? I like both, so your choice

eren: loud and disrespectful children that trample through stores and restaurants while the parents do nothing. seeing kids be obnoxious is annoying in and of itself but when the parents do nothing about it his blood is boiling. he genuinely wants to fight those kids.

mikasa: oblivious shoppers. like can people not take up the entire aisle when miss girl here is just trying to get some god damn yarn. MOVE.

armin: when people hint towards secrets but refuse to share e.g. "you'll never guess what I just heard.... I can't tell you though it's a secret"

jean: seeing a smoker toss a cigarette butt on the ground. that's gross stop it

connie: chewing, pen tapping, sniffling, mouth breathing, etc. there's so many sounds that just drive him up the god damn wall. misophonia represent

sasha: people who eat their steak well done. you could chew on a leather wallet and get the same texture.

historia: when people get way too close for comfort when talking. for the love of god back UP. get out of her face

ymir: absolutely NOTHING makes her blood steam quite like when she sees someone check their watch while she's talking

levi: when people leave things like the tv volume on odd numbers, particularly numbers ending in 1, 3, 7, or 9

erwin: dishes in the sink, right next to the empty dishwasher.

hange: when people make a comment like "I think you have adhd" or something along those lines, like wow yeehaw woowee thanks for the observation

reiner: he doesn't have pet peeves he has irrationally psychotic hatreds

bertholdt: people tromping through perfect, untouched snow. nobody likes the unflattering look of despoiled ugly foot prints in clean white snow.

porco: long list he is very easily pissed off but a big one is crumbs. god damn CRUMBS. the feel of them under his feet makes his blood boil and he wears slides into the kitchen just so he doesn't step in any

pieck: "should of" "could of" "would of" for fucks sake it's HAVE, or just add 've, jesus christ

zeke: people talking during movies. even if he doesn't like the movie he'd rather listen to it instead of what some dolt in the theater has to say

eren: mint juul pods, I don’t know why but I feel like in a modern au he’d vape a lot. I just think it’s funny and so him, you know? he’s probably also gonna grab like 4 monster energy drinks because he absolutely thrives on those. like his bloodstream is probably mostly citric acid

mikasa: she’s very nitpicky and gas stations make her uncomfortable (they aren’t “clean” enough) but she usually gets a bag of teriyaki jerky and has to fend off eren whose prying hands are always trying to get into the bag

armin: phone chargers. if the gas station has phone chargers he’s getting all of them. also probably an ungodly amount of redbull, it makes him implode but he can't stop drinking it

jean: gets beef jerky which he initially intends to share but very quickly becomes a greedy bastard and keeps the bag to himself like a goblin

connie and sasha: picture this, you give two eight year olds 20 dollars and send them into a gas station. what do they come back with? probably party sized bags of chips, slim jims, gummy worms, chex mix, swedish fish, various other candy... and of course, some apple juice, for a bit of finesse. basically the dream feast of small children. that’s these two

historia: water but she won’t under any circumstance drink aquafina. she says that true water drinkers know all water don’t taste the same

ymir: cigarettes and probably some kind of flavored water, she doesn’t really drink water unless it has some kind of flavoring

levi: gets a single black coffee and leaves

erwin: gets a pack of soft pretzels and leaves

hange: party sized bag of sunchips which they devour within ten minutes, it’s kind of intimidating

reiner: granola bars. he gets so many of them and he always offers one to bertholdt but bert hates them so reiner just has to eat like 5 granola bars by himself

bertholdt: at a gas station I don’t think he’d really get anything other than anxiety

annie: gets an xl slushie and mixes all the flavors or tries to make some kind of pattern with them. she drinks gas station slushies fast enough that she doesn’t have to swirl her straw in the flavorless ice chunks at the bottom

porco: a quart of soup, courtesy of pieck, because he never has money. any kind of soup really but especially broccoli and cheddar. he doesn’t even use the spoon he just slurps it straight out of the cup

pieck: it depends on the day but usually a few sodas and a bag of salt and vinegar chips which she forces porco to eat part of because she can never finish them

zeke: gets an s.pellegrino and a hot dog with a disgusting amount of toppings on it and just stands outside watching people while silently consuming the fruits of his endeavor

let’s play a game. one of these is from personal experience. try to guess which one it is.

How the AOT characters ruin their date in five seconds

no warnings

eren: takes a fat vape rip to do a trick and look cool but it gets caught in his throat so he chokes and goes into a nasty coughing fit

mikasa: talks about the intrusive thoughts she’s had regarding a plot to maim and/or kill her ex

armin: “when are we getting married?”

jean: tries to fight anyone who even dares look in your direction and is way too overly aggressive about it. then he got knocked on his ass and you’re like okay we’re done here

connie: whips out his tech deck collection and proudly displays them in front of you. (this would only ruin it if you don’t have culture)

sasha: belches. loudly.

historia: goes on a long rant about her familial problems and how much her dad stresses her out

ymir: shows up drunk

levi: breaks the silence with “surprise, I’m married.”

erwin: goes to a restaurant with a vegan person and eats a bacon cheeseburger right in front of them

hange: attempts to seduce with their outstanding prowess at solving a rubiks cube. got out their rubiks cube and proceeded to showcase this talent by solving it in a fairly average time of about two minutes. 

reiner: forgets your name. probably forgets his too

bertholdt: starts crying from anxiety and nervousness and has to excuse himself to the bathroom to hyperventilate for a moment then comes back looking like a drowned rat

annie: accidentally sends you a text while complaining about you to someone else during your date

porco: stops in the middle of a crosswalk, staring at a waiting driver like a deer in headlights because for some reason he couldn’t comprehend what to do. all the while his date waits on the other side looking back at him like ???

pieck: went on a long tangent trying to convince her date that she would make a fantastic serial killer

zeke: at the end of the date during goodbyes he didn’t want to make any assumptions about what his date was comfortable with so instead of a kiss or a hug he just patted them on the head and said “okay, goodnight”

i haven't watched aot in English so I don't know if this is canon or everyone just decided to have the same headcanon about hange using they/them pronouns?

I haven't watched it in english either actually. I only watch subs and refuse to watch dubs (some of the voices are.... so bad, honestly)

but hange being nonbinary is a pretty popular headcanon! isayama intentionally made hange ambiguous,

and the publisher of aot, kodansha, confirmed that hange's gender is open to interpretation.

so I personally headcanon that hange uses any and all pronouns but especially they since it's... semi-canon? if that makes sense

slightly suggestive of course, but nothing explicit

eren: he’s physically not gonna let you get out of bed. he’d hold you to him so tight that you’d have to tell him to ease up so you don’t suffocate (he’ll complain, obviously, but oblige). and, to be honest, he’s probably gonna wanna go again

mikasa: similar to eren she’s not gonna want you to leave. she’ll lay on top of you if she has to just to keep you in bed with her. she’s also very affectionate, think lots of caresses and small kisses.

armin: bless his soul he’s super gentle and sweet, giving you lots of compliments talking about how much he appreciates and cares for you, and then will probably take a shower once he gets out of bed. of course, he’s going to invite you to join him.

jean: oh this poor guy he’s so exhausted. he’s gonna sleep in for a few hours more than usual and just be super groggy if he has to get up before he’s ready. he’d love it though if you stay in bed with him and just hold him, he’s such a cuddler and likes having his hair stroked or his face gently caressed

marco: another absolute sweetheart. he’ll be up before you, probably making breakfast or cleaning up any clothes strewn about, just tending to stuff. he’ll just do whatever he thinks needs to be done so you can stay in bed and rest until he joins you

connie: he gets super hungry but like, he can’t cook to save his life. he’ll just ask what you’re in the mood for and order takeout. when it gets there he plops back in bed with you and the food and you’ll just eat together and giggle at some stupid romcom on netflix

sasha: now this is probably obvious but I think she’s going to get up early and make you breakfast. (well, it’s mostly for her because she’s starving by then, but she thought she’d be considerate). she’s also gonna put on something for you to watch together, probably a nature documentary

historia: this girl is clinging onto you for dear life and not letting go. super huggy and touch positive and if you go to the kitchen she’s going to hug you from behind the whole time and mumble on and on about going back to bed with her

ymir: first thing she’s gonna wanna do is take a shower (she can’t stand the feeling of being sweaty) and naturally she’s going to invite you to join her. of course she can’t control her libido so you’re probably gonna have to get another shower soon anyway

levi: super sleepy and just wants to be held. he looks adorable when he sleeps so why would you want to get out of bed anyway? he’ll just lay on your chest and mumble something about ‘staying with him’ for a while longer.

erwin: he’s up first and is probably making some food for the both of you or doing laundry. he likes to be very hospitable and help out around the house to let you both take it easy for the rest of the morning.

hange: they usually wake up first and will just scroll through social media for a while with you in their arms until you wake up. at that point they’re just gonna want to snuggle, they’re more clingy than they admit, and will probably try to convince you to just go back to sleep together because they can’t be bothered to do anything productive for a while honestly

reiner: he prefers to stay in bed for a while and just talk. he tends to be quite talkative and just ramble to you if you’ll listen. the topics can get pretty deep but eventually they’ll get more lighthearted and you’ll just be laughing with each other and once you run out of stuff to talk about he’ll put something on tv

bertholdt: he’s quite the heavy sleeper, so you wake up first, but the only reason you woke up is because he’s probably suffocating you unintentionally. his arms and legs are wrapped around you like some kind of trap, but, who would want to leave anyway? he’s super apologetic and nervous when he wakes up, but it’s cute honestly

annie: she doesn’t really have much to say. she thinks to herself a lot and you both kind of just lay there, it’s beautifully awkward in a way. eventually when you get up she’s gonna grab your wrist and ask you to stay with her a little while longer. 

porco: he finds that his mind is a lot clearer, and he’s a lot more open afterwards (no pun intended) so he’s gonna ask you a lot of serious or deep questions and just have a long, heartfelt conversation. eventually he’s gonna want to cuddle and go back to sleep, but he’ll stay up if you want him to. another clingy one, he’s gonna try to hug you at any opportunity

pieck: when you wake up you find yourself already in her arms while she’s watching tv, probably hell’s kitchen or some shitty tlc program. she gently touches your hair while you ask her about the show she’s watching as you adjust to watch it with her. you laugh about these dumb shows together and make fun of them until either of you feel like getting up

zeke: if it were anybody else, he’d be gone. once he got into a relationship though he decided that, well, staying isn’t so bad. he might be having a cigarette on the porch and when you join him he’ll just look at you endearingly and eventually ask if you want takeout

every year, it seems that the jaeger brothers show up without fail, despite both rarely ever being invited. they sort of just let themselves in and nobody says anything about it but quietly acknowledges their presences. eren will gorge himself on food then lay on the couch with his phone for a few hours before leaving. on the other hand, however, zeke comes prepared with plastic bags. he eats as much as he can then stashes whatever leftovers he can in plastic bags in his coat and leaves, rarely saying a word.

mikasa and armin are just... quiet. mikasa in particular probably has like, one slice of turkey, then groans about how full she is. armin however is a bottomless pit and never puts on any weight no matter how much he eats at thanksgiving and jean is irritated by him because of it. annie is there too, but she has a poultry allergy, so she usually just inhales the mashed potatoes

now that I mention jean, I want to point out that he’s kind of the ego stroker. he turns every conversation at thanksgiving into an intellect measuring contest by showing off his vast knowledge of pop culture, world news, and basically anything else he thinks makes him better than other people

connie’s the adult at the kids’ table. that’s it that’s the headcanon

sasha brings niccolo along for his first thanksgiving with her family (family as in her friends). she’s super enthusiastic introducing him to everyone and talking about how great he is, and he’s the poor sod in the limelight that doesn’t know how to talk to anyone and just smiles awkwardly when people look at him. bless his heart

erwin is the overachieving host that wants everything to go perfectly and employs his housemates levi and hange to help make that happen. levi, however, doesn’t care much for holidays, and hange cares too much. fill in the blanks and you can imagine how disorganized things are once everyone arrives

erwin’s also always trying to propose toasts, and he has become known as The Chronic Toaster. levi never gets his own plate and instead gradually picks at erwin’s food, and somehow, hange always has an announcement to make. maybe they had a grand new experiment they wanted to declare, or maybe they just got off probation, anything. hange always has something to say

historia and ymir always show up late, usually right when dinner hits the table, and they leave early because by god if historia doesn’t manage to snag some black friday deals.... anyway, ymir is sometimes left at the house instead of leaving with historia because she sneaks a couple glasses of (usually white) wine and gets embarrassingly sloshed and passes out on the couch. in this case historia usually comes to pick her up the next day

pieck is what I call the “it” talker. you see, every family has an “it” that, when uttered at the dinner table, collapses the entire conversation into disarray. yet of course she is the anarchistic entity that delights in the fallout caused by vocalizing the forbidden “it”.

though physically at the table, reiner’s mind is at the couch, watching The Game. only by the time The Game is over do you realize that he doesn’t even care about The Game or sports at all, on no other days does he watch football, but on this one (1) day The Game seems to entice him like he’s under some kind of spell.

we all have different kinds of aunts, but bertholdt is the cool breed of aunt. everyone seems to be content and at ease when he’s talking and telling stories of the interesting and apparently endless life he lives but is still, for some reason, more interested in the boring lives of the people around him rather than his own. no matter how divided the family is after the uttering of the “it” everyone can still equally enjoy and appreciate bertholdt.

you knew this was coming. it had to be someone. and it’s porco. he’s the political commentator. it’s usually only jean, reiner, bert, and maybe pieck that listen to him, but porco goes on long rants to whoever will listen about how we need to do more to help the environment and other stuff of the sort that I won’t go into because this is not a political blog. have a good day

reiner’s sleep schedule was, for lack of better terms, terrible. sometimes, he dreaded falling asleep, because he often had nightmares. he woke up a lot during the night and it took him a long time to go back to sleep. by the time he had to wake up for the day, he’d be sleep deprived and anxious.

he started to sleep better when he and bertholdt moved in together. having another presence by his side, one he trusted, let him relax more and sleep easier. (though, granted, sometimes bert kicked him in his sleep and snatched all the blankets)

eventually he got his sleep schedule in order. but, he still has nightmares sometimes. what’s different now is that when he does, he wakes up and has someone there to talk to or hug until he can drift off again.

for anyone who’s wondering, reiner is usually the little spoon. he’s the clingy one

bert leaves little sticky notes on the fridge before he goes to work to remind reiner to take his meds and stay hydrated. reiner is embarrassed to admit that he keeps the notes with hearts on them

they have a dog! she’s a red irish setter, and her name is warrior. they had been talking about getting a pet for a while and bert adopted her for their anniversary :)

bert can tell when reiner is lying about how he feels. when reiner is upset, he visibly shakes. if bert asks how he’s doing and he says he’s fine, but bert can see his shoulders quivering, he knows he’s lying. he shakes even worse when he cries. bert wraps his arms around him and rests his head on his shoulder to comfort him.

classic movie marathon nights almost every weekend. they curl up on the couch with their dog and a weighed blanket and just binge a bunch of classic movies they’ve been meaning to get to. this is how heathers became one of reiner’s favorite movies
