gunpowdergelatine-katsu:
This was a bad idea, not just being in the Land of Fire but so near to Konohagakure, but when Deidara not have a bad idea? She was just too curious much like a cat, ignoring where curiosity got it and maybe her too. After deserting—leaving the Akatsuki, she overheard whispers that Pein took out the Leaf Village, read it in the headlines too—a big, ol’ chunk right out of the nation. News like that went international and well, she just wanted to witness it for herself, see it with her own two eyes. You shouldn’t believe everything you hear in the papers, afterall. Like Deidara’s own “death” to one Uchiha Sasuke. Maybe Konoha was so crippled it’d make for easy pickings and with the Akatsuki bygone after the death of its last members and kamikaze by its leader—may the spoils go to her.
So, here she was, having dragged herself all the way from the safety of Yukigakure to be skulking around in the woodlands that gifted the nation its namesake trying to reckon the state of it. Just because it got turned into Ground Zero did not mean for one second did, she think there wasn’t shinobi stationed about so she had entered the nation, not by sky as she typically did but foot to avoid detection. Unfortunately, due to this, she couldn’t get an overhead look of Konoha which meant she was putting her neck out there just to get a glimpse of it—literally.
All of sudden, the ground rumbled and what could be described as a growl echoed from the dark depths of the timberland. Immediately, she hunkered down into the bush, handmouth munching on clay to craft explosives for whatever was lurking in the foliage. Whatever it was, it was large—large enough to inflict the earth with quakes as it walked and Deidara didn’t own enough knowledge of the Land of Fire to even guesstimate what that may be, beast or otherwise. It could be the Kyuubi itself for all she knew! Not that she thought it was. Afterall, it was locked up in that dumb, blonde Jinchuuriki! Wasn’t it? No, that was ridiculous.
Either or, she kept low, the black fabric of her old Akatsuki cloak which she had painstakingly plucked the threading of the red clouds out of blending her into the shadows like a blanket of darkness. Her eyescope switched on and the green screen flickered on, taking a moment to load before running a scan of the immediate area for any nearby heat or chakra signatures. Immediately, there was a hit and—It. Was. Massive.
Damn it! It couldn’t be—could it?
The fur on the back of his neck stood on hand. He bristled, ears flicking forward, twitching here and there. Something was about in the forest. Something foreign, dangerous, even. Whomever it was, they were hiding, but they could only hide so much. After all, he had a pretty good nose, to track things.
He growled, slightly louder, as he took a few step forward. While he was keeping his power in check, he was also slightly rising it, as he advanced. An usually effective method of intimidation, a warning, also. And while his mouth was closed, a small bijuu bomb was being charged within his maw.
Perhaps he was cautious, but lately, things had been hectic, and while he had no love for most ninjas, Konohakagure was still ‘home’, in a sense. And so whomever threatened it, threatened him.
He started sniffing around again, but more intently this time. He snarled, head snapping into a direction, bristling. Someone, as far as he could tell. His chakra spiked up suddenly.
“Who dares?!” He roared out angrily. His nostrils flared, and he had half a mine just blowing up that part of the forest. Trees could grow back, after all. And it would possibly eliminate the threat too.
