I am on my paws and knees begging folks to realize they don't have to be the world's most amazing writer ever to write! The alterhuman tags have been feeling really devoid and empty of a lot of the usual interesting essays lately and that makes me really sad! I love it when you all write! I love reading about the experiences of people! You also don't have to be interesting to write about yourself. Most people, I find, view themselves to be quite boring and are more fascinated with the lives of others. The reality of this is that you think you're boring because you've lived with yourself/selves your entire life! Of course you're going to seem mundane to yourself. But the secret is, nobody else is you. And no matter how utterly boring you find yourself or your thoughts or your particular relation to the alterhuman community I can assure you, you are interesting to others out there. Your voice DOES matter. Your thoughts and experiences DO have value. You ARE valuable. So please, please write. Please draw. Please share your experiences through literally whatever form you possibly can! I LOVE to read about everyone's unique experiences. Some of my favourite essays and writings out there have been from people who are so entirely and vastly different from myself that I could never have even conceived of the way they viewed things and how they experienced the world around them until I read about their experiences. Some of my favourite artworks are from people who's styles and preferences are wholly different from my own. I promise you, you do not have to be talented or skilled or amazing or perfect to create something of meaning and worth that revolves around your experience. Whether that be a handful of sentences attempting to verbalize a way you felt during a shift, or a several thousand word essay on your particular experience as a spiritual therian. Whether that be a simple pen scribble or a 16+ hour finished piece of work. Whatever it may be. It has meaning because you made it with your own digits with your own hands with your own claws and its yours. Please write.

There’s a reason why I’m very grumble grumbly towards the popular representation of therianthropy in masks and clothing. It all involves displaying the human body, which is something I don’t wish to include with my identity.

In short, I feel left out when all the focus for alterhuman representation goes to what your human body can wear and physically do. Because in order for me to accurately represent myself I would have to transplant my brain into a canine body or unload my consciousness into a machine. Or… uh… become the void. Launch me into space. That is my identity.

Forums, writing, art, video making, it all gives me permission to properly express myself, to let my identity run around and be clumsy. The focus is not on the body, but on what’s going on inside.

Plus, I don’t want to appeal to some broad, looming human audience that doesn’t care to research behind my identity. I’m not as comfortable with being so bold and open about this part of myself, which is why I stick to smaller circles and corners of the in the internet. Let me run around in my ecosystem with those who understand me!

It’s very hard relating to humans as a wolf.

I shake your hand and smile at you, engage in small conversation, I do everything like a formula day in day out. But it feels like such a charade, useless gestures to maintain social stability.

Truthfully, I don’t wish to speak to you or ask you about your day. I want to run, keep running until I’m far from civilization. I want to sink my teeth into prey. I want to charge headfirst into the forest without worrying about branches getting in my way at a bipedal height.

When I shake your hand, ensuring a sturdy grip for your approval and stare at your face so you think I’m engaged, I hate it. And I hate you too.

like yeah when kids ate just being kids leave them alone but some of us have been species dysphoric our entire lives, will always be this way, will not "grow out of it", and arent kids anymore. and i know im saying this as a 20 yr old but ive seen people way older than me still considering themselves unhuman and treating us like it's a phase or its just roleplay doesnt actually help us

“Why are there so many wolves?”

I have always seen skeptics and haters of therians ask the question: “why are there SO many wolves and canine therians if you all were animals in a past life and its involuntary and purely by chance.” And what bothers me is therians NEVER answer this question honestly. They never give the right answer and it’s right there, and all because they’re trying to sell the idea that all forms of animal identity are involuntary and spiritual. The answer is not “oh but there are all kinds of therians! I’ve literally seen bug therians! I’ve seen all kinds!” Yes, true, but there is an answer for why so many of us are canids and it has to do with the fact that identifying as an animal can have psychological and environmental components to it. And, comfortable with this idea or not, being a therian is in many ways, very human. Relating to and identifying as animals has been a thing humans have done for probably since the entire time they’ve been around. Add to this the fact that animal identity, like ANY identity, can be influenced by culture and life experience and you get the pervasiveness of canids in our community. Wolves foxes coyotes and dogs have close ties to us and show up in almost every culture all around the world. We are surrounded by dogs and surrounded by stories about canines and humans have an extremely long and pervasive relationship with canines and dogs. That is the answer. Even if you are a spiritual canine, it’s likely the answer. Being influenced by culture does not take away your validity in identity. Stop trying to push the idea that therianthropy is an entirely involuntary spiritual belief. It’s not. It’s just an identity. And it’s up to the person to decide and explore how that identity came to be. People who hate therians are not going to take you more seriously because you gaslit them into thinking we were a “past life spirituality”. lol. It’s stupid. Stop that. You’re excluding everyone else.

I have a question for the (were)wolf community with a partner, if you guys can relate to it or not.

Because to me, past-jealousy is a big problem. Like, I trust him fully that he wouldn't cheat on me. But the thought that there were others before me, REALLY bothers me. It haunts my brain and even ruins moments for me sometimes. Like I get it, neither of us knew that we would meet... But the wolf part of my brain always has been like "I only want ONE partner throughout my whole life." And now I know it's him... I finally found him... He is the first I ever let close to me, and I never want that to change... However, the fact that I can never be the first... or the only one for him, just makes it feel... Not right... Even tho it is and it doesn't change anything about how well we work as couple... It sometimes makes me wanna take a step back when it comes to intimate moments :/ I wish it wouldn't bother me as much as it does... Do you guys struggle with this as well?
