PLEASE TELL ME MORE ABOUT BUZZARDSTAR 🥹
OK!! SO I DON'T HAVE MUCH YET but here's what I have! (His story is still inspired off of Hancock with a few changes, but his personality is pretty much the same, same goes for Arcade, who's also in this)
Buzzard used to be a loner, going from place to place, drifting from one group of loners to the next, only retaining a few friends in what he could call a "group". Most of his time was spent messing around and getting high off of whatever he could find, whether that'd be the very rare catnip or herbs that were definitely not meant for feline consumption. But a high was a high, and he enjoyed the risk.
This all changes when a group (Haven't decided on who this group would be yet) kills everyone in his group, his friends, and leaves only him to run away. He didn't even try to fight back or defend himself, and he hated himself for it. He was a coward. That was when he began to take anything he could get his hands on, to get a better high than the last, to forget what he did. But that only resulted in him getting sick, losing a majority of his fur and his face getting all messed up. He didn't really understand what was going on, but he was too out of it to even care.
This is when he sees what would be the legion in this AU, attempting to enslave a cat, beating him up and pinning him down as he resisted. Due to his high making him extremely confident, he rushed in without thinking, attacking the two cats and freeing the tom. The two of them run off, Buzzard asking what his name was once they were safe. He introduces himself as Dunerunner, which Buzzard thinks is a ridiculous name. To him, he barely even knew what a clan was, as there were practically none left. Dunerunner was probably one of the very few cats out here that still had a clan name. Most got destroyed by those Legion cats, which unfortunately for Dunerunner, that's what happened to him.
Alas, Buzzard waves him goodbye, that he'll be on his way, but Dunerunner stops him, wondering why he was leaving just like that after saving him. Buzzard tells him he's not some sort of hero, that he was just high off whatever he took earlier, that that's what gave him the confidence. Dunerunner doesn't believe him, but before he can say anything, he receives a prophecy from Starclan, who no one in his old clan had seen in years at this point. Buzzardstar is freaked out by how suddenly ridged and unresponsive he became and was just about to leave him behind when he was stopped. Dunerunner can only stare, shocked that he was the one who heard from Starclan after all these moons, and more importantly, that this cat was supposed to be the one to bring back the clans. He was gonna need a lot of work for that to happen. When Dunerunner tried to explain it to him, Buzzard thinks he's crazy, finding it funny at first before suddenly running away.
But he learns quickly that Dunerunner wasn't just gonna give up, and that his name fit him very well, as he easily caught up. He wanted to at least travel with him, he didn't say it out loud, but he didn't wanna lose the one thing he had to find his home, even if it wasn't his exact home. He just hadn't had clan life since he was a kit traveling with him mom in their tiny clan remnants, he wasn't even sure if Starclan was real until now. He didn't wanna let that go now, not when he was this close to figuring out who he was. Buzzard finally reluctantly agrees, but gives him some conditions he ends up never enforcing as the two travel together, he actually ends up liking having Dunerunner around, as much as the tom insisted he was the most boring cat out there, he still found him fun to be around. Especially when he burst out in anger with those smart words of his. Dunerunner had no idea why Starclan chose this cat out of all the graceful cats to be a leader, but he couldn't exactly change it.
I DON'T HAVE MUCH BEYOND THIS BUT basically what happens is Buzzard and Dunerunner build their group slowly, with their first members being Stagstep (Hange Zoe), Flaxfawn (Anya), and Blossompaw (Daisuke). Flaxfawn and Blossompaw surprisingly came from a clan, but not one Dunerunner knew anything of. Stag on the other hand, was a loner and she enthusiastically took the clan name Dunerunner gave him despite Buzzard lightheartedly teasing him for it. He only tells him he could learn a lot from Stagstep, as both a leader and a person.
I think after this is where Hancock's current personality in the game would start to shine through completely, as more cats from different backgrounds join in, and he sees that Dunerunner really isn't lying. This is what a group really should be, cats who care for each other and fight for each other. Not just run when someone gets scared.
