Hunting on Wheels | Fernando & Nova
@novaleightemple
When he first joined the site, he wasn't too keen on meeting new people. To Fernando Diaz, he was self-sufficient. He has two jobs to put food on the table, pay rent and medical necessities for his brother. His colleagues liked him just fine, his bosses likewise. His brother, despite his condition, was doing very well in school. There was nothing else that could have made him much more content until Aurelio pointed out that he needed to know more people outside the nice little bubbles he had fit himself in. His brother was right. Lio was such a smart ass but Fernando couldn't deny the legitimacy of his observance.
So meeting someone new and perhaps a little too happy about this whole meet up must be daunting to him. Yet, he was calm, pushing Lio into The Pie Hole and ordering their favourite slices of pie. It was the usual banter about their lives; Lio complaining about his assignments and how he alway seem to be running out of books to read in the school library. They have only been in LA for a year and a half and already, the boy talked as if he had been there for six. Their slices of pies were barely done when the door swung open and a petite woman in bright coloured clothes came in. There was something about Nova that made everyone suddenly light, comfortable yet brimming with positive energy.
Fernando looked up, squinting slightly before realising it was the woman whom he and his brother were supposed to meet. Lio had already perked up, genuinely interested to know who she is since he realised that Fernando kept smiling to the laptop screen the past few nights. If someone could make Fernando chuckle and smile reaching up to his eyes till the corners crinkle, there must be something. Lio waved to Nova, gesturing her over. "You must be Nova!" he chirped, grinning from ear to ear. "I'm Lio. The older one is Fernando and if he acts like a grumpy cat, just ignore him and we can always leave him behind," Lio said teasingly, chuckling. Fernando almost wanted to smack the back of his head. "Hi," he managed, shooting Lio a stern look only to be met with a tongue poking out. Fernando pulled a chair out for Nova to join them. "Do you wanna order a pie? We're in no hurry," he offered, gesturing to their own plates.
