"I love you but you're doing wrong in a way I cannot condone" and "I hate you but you're being wronged in a way I cannot stomach" are top tier and I need more of them.
Pretty please criticize my DoD killer cast's designs!
I know quite little of DoD's lore since I joined recently, so these designs might just straight up be absolute trash. I will really appreciate it if y'all can inform me about the lore!
Explanation on my own design on undercut because holy yapperoni.
Harken:
This construct is funny for meā I just followed the ingame model wholeheartedly and did little more to modify it except making her taller. At one point, I made her too thin, so she looked like a toothpick.
Myyy main inspiration for her is Rocky from Project Hail Mary. It's only noticable on her hand though. I don't know how to make Harken have an "otherworldly construct" vibe, so I just used an alien as a reference. That's all for her.
Badware:
This virus is actually the main reason why I made this in the first place. I wanted a bulkier Badware. I thought it'll somewhat make senseā they're a pretty tanky virus, right? I heard that it can survive hard resets, and it uses its body to ram onto civilians. All of the fanarts I've seen of them doesn't really convey this, and of course it doesn't, the ingame model doesn't portray it with that body type. But I still thought it was an interesting enough idea, so I had to draw it myself.
Truthfully, I think I failed giving it the design I wanted. My first attempt actually looks more odd, so I had to change direction. At the time, I felt like Papyrus from Undertale was a fine reference because he's a skeleton (Badware has a skeleton drawing on its chest), and Papyrus also kinda looked bulkier because of his battle body. I thought wide shoulders was enough to send the message for a bulkier Badware, but⦠I don't know. I swapped the skeleton imprint with wires. And now, I'm afraid that this design is now completely impractical due to them having actual exposed nerves.
Killdroid:
This robot was the hardest for me to draw. This guy is my favorite out of the killer casts for no reason at all. I can't even play him right, I just think he's cool. They probably look odd because of the weird gradient. My only thought process was to make them look intimidating. I saw a Killdroid fanart on Pinterest that had that kind of gradient on its design and I thought it was really cool, so I wanted to try it. Er... Well.. maybe it wasn't the best idea?
"Why does the arms and legs look like that?" Because I cannot tell if Killdroid's grey things on its legs are knee guards or ankle bracelets. Probably the former, but I made the whole calves gray. The arms, I just forgot that he wears gloves, so I just painted their hand gray.
I might be lazy.
Pursuer:
Ahh, fresh meat. I didn't think much of this thing, I just made him malnourished and weird looking. Fluffy pursuer is nice and all, I just don't think it fits him. I have no idea what I'm doing with the spine though.
Also I was having way too much fun making his face. It's made with a lasso tool!
Artful:
I didn't think much of this french dude either. I didn't give him any crazy design. He's just. A dude. That happens to know magic. That's the point, he's a civilian like any other.
I did thought about give him a cape, but I ended up not doing it. Maybe I could've given him a swirly mustach?
